As far as I'm concerned, denim jeans are trousers made from denim cloth, and I just call them jeans. Dungarees to me are always the trousers made from a simple and robust cloth, usually heavy cotton, not always denim, with a 'bib' at the front with two straps over the wearer's shoulders that attach to the waist at the back.
