I play with the drummer from the Rubber City Rebels and Hammer Damage Band, Mike Hammer. We are in Atlanta ga. He is no "has been", this guy still rocks!
Hammer gave me a copy of his Hammer Damage Band 45 with "Laugh" on side A from 1978. WOW! classic.
Anyway, search for some "Grinder Nova" videos here on youtube. You'll see. he still kicks arse! Also try "Cletis and his City Cousins" too. Cheers,
@johnnycheole Tell Mike Mike Steve from Cleveland said Hi! He played one of my parties as a member of the Walking Clampettes, out by the hotel pool...Cops came and we had to take it inside.
Excellent, mate. I' m not calling anyone but myself a has been. I used to sing in various punk bands. Bizex-B for instance. Can be found on here and on MySpace.
Rubber City Rebels? Had not thought about them in years. I remember seeing them in my first copy of New York Rocker. I went out and bought every record I could find from bands in that issue. Love the Nerves.. bought the 4 song ep for $1.
Yes, I don't have the record but I borrowed their album from a friend several years ago and I put that song on one of the tape compilations I used to make back then. I listened to those compilations very frequently so I can still remember it well. Rod Firestone from the Rubber City Rebels also played on some of Jack Lee's recordings so they obviously knew each other well. I have uploaded the Jack Lee version to You Tube but unfortunately it has been blocked in some countries. Cheers!
I remember The Rebels...I was a scene maker back then...what a great time...I was associated with the Wild Giraffes...Saw The Nerves at The looking Glass In Euclid...they were traveling in a station wagon...Jack lee was super nice guy.
All those bands like the Nerves, the Swell Maps, the Damned, the Ramones, Crass, the Fall, Joy Division, James Chance and the Contortions and whatever a lot of bands I can't think of or name here just go to show that and why Punk rock is the greatest genre in Rock music ever.
I think true punk is much more diverse than often credited. From garage to hardcore, same back bone, different sound. This shit out today though, garbage like green day, fallout boy and Blink 182 are not eve close to punk. I think punk completely died out in 1984. I very rarely hear a band today I can even consider punk. At the same time though may be this makes punk more alive than ever. It's more underground and misunderstood than ever, and that's what punks all about.
@BboyFlimsy Very good statement. In Los Angeles it was pretty lame by 1982. The 70's in LA punk Rock were great times. Thats all I can speak for since I was there in it. I'm sure NY and a few other places can say the same.
@BboyFlimsy Yeah, the "Punk" bands these days, like the ones you mentioned, SUCK. Borrrriinnng. But I suppose it's always been and will always be that way. Thank goodness for The Nerves and technology.
I love this song! I always thought it was stupid none of my friends appreciate the genius of this group!

I'm cutting out all my paper dolls
I wonder which one's gonna try to drive me crazy this time, oh this time
I'm cutting out all my paper dolls
I tried each one but they all, turned out the same, oh the same
I tried each one but they all turned out the same
I'm gonna tear 'em all up and then I'm gonna throw 'em away, hey
