youre right. he was the same type of being as gandalf, although he was probably a follower of Aulë, before he joined Melkors followers. Gandalf was a follower of Manwë, and apprenticed with Nienna, learning compassion.
but i might think that if gandalf defeated it while he was like he is now imagine his true power for he's probably greater than his white form. it is also said that he is the only one for coming as old men to conciel there powers
Indeed. But I think it's not only the tight fall. Tolkien never stated the Balrogs could fly, although in the LotR version of the creature, he seemed to have something that appeared to be wings (In the film and game, literally wings), but nobody knows whether Tolkien meant them figuratively or they could actually be used to perform air manoeuvres. In fact, in no story do they seem to fly, most relevantly in The Fall of Gondolin, in which they even ride dragons. D.R.
Anyone noticed as Gandalf is falling in the beginning that his sword, Glamdring, is upside-down and when he takes it, it is good:D. I just say this because I just saw it now.
If you ask me, this was one of the most influential parts of the film(s). That, and the destruction of the Dark Tower. But I believe this is supposed to symbolize falling from life into death, and then conquering death to come back and do what you set out to.
whats the soundtrack 1:33-1:45 gives me the chills

it only just occurred to me that the balrog has wings.....hmmm

Probably couldn't spread them enough to fly. That fall was kinda tight for the balrog, and he was probably in no position to starting flying xD

Hey, wait, it IS sped up! Normal fall is :72 secs. This fall is :68 secs. Not that it's a big deal or anything ():
