Did you have Kiki since she was very very young, and did you hand-feed her so therefore it became so loveable and attached to you? Or it will be enough to buy a 3 months lovebird and it will be easy for me to tame her?
@Corzine69 I think it's better if she dies before your eyes then you can at least say goodbye and you may then be in for a new parrot so it's better that the bird dies in your hands that gives us a great revealling it's better to now that she dies before your eyes then you now why she died at least it doesn't give you a good feeling to now that she maybe died through not having food or through the cold and all that sad thing swant maybe it's better this way but it's your own way of thinking
i am so sorry for your loss. she is such a beautiful bird. i really hope she found a safe , new home with another family. i got teary when i saw this video... atleast she had a very good owner :)
wow thats Incredible sorry for you loss and so happy to see that she had a wonderful life she seemed very happy in this video. I am getting a lovebird soon and i hope i can teach her as many tricks. Thanks for sharing Rip kiki
wow amazing i just got my lovebird JOJO 2 days ago.. but when he sleeps he goes a little back and forth and sometimes he blows up a little.. is that normal?
P.S. he is often tired during the day and sleep with his head in his feathers too (i'm just a bit concerned)
What a great friend and smart too! I'm sorry for your loss. My best friend, PJ died a couple months ago. I had him 8 years. I can't believe how my little pal stole my heart and life. He was a Fischer's and had plenty of 'tude to keep everybody busy. He did many tricks like your baby did. Thanks and God bless you and all your feathered friends!
I have one bird too...Kiki is so cute man...I need to learn how to make my bird stay calm because I always try to play with her but I think that I need to learn how to make it work
Its perfectly possible that Kiki found a new home! I fond a lovebird last year in my front garden - his leg was broken and he was frightened and very beat up and hungry, but he's perfectly happy and healthy with me now (i tried to find his original owner but there was never any word back about a missing bird at all)
our birdie even learned to talk really well! no tricks yet though besides step-up, but its amazing improvement.
Hopefully she didn't pass away. Maybe she ended up with a new family and is doing well. She's very smart so it's possible. I want to train my budgies, parrotlets, and my new lovie some tricks. One budgie kind of does tricks such as hang upside down or flip around my finger, but he doesn't do these on cue. Both budgies talk so that's sort of a trick. One parrotlet came home last month, another will be home soon, and my love is coming home this weekend. They're all tame so that will help.
sorrry for your loss /= in the summer i clip my lovebirds wings so he dosnt get loose again bc he almost got attacked last year when he flew out into my neighbors yard. could you tell me how you taught your bird these tricks ? my lovvies 6-7 and hes very stubbord >.<
@SaraxBabeey Thanks :D Lovebirds are actually very highly trainable in my opinion. What's most important is to gain their trust. You can start off by training them to step up and down with a T-stand and with target training. With foundation being laid, it will help you in shaping them to perform even complex behaviors. Good luck :D
I am so sad you lost your treasure! It looks like Kiki was a wonderful lovebird and you an amazing person to have showed it such love and trust, compassion, time, and effort to have such a special relationship with you. Great tribute to an amazing, intelligent, wonderful feathered friend.

Beautiful!!!! I'm very sorry for your lost. Mili's first wife died now he has a second wife, but when Cuquita died I cried and I didn't want to acept it.
@MarisolCuervo It's always hard to get over the loss of a friend, we just have to learn to cope with the sadness. It actually took me and my mum sometime to accept this fact.
By the way, if I ever get another bird, I'd really like to learn to train him like you did! Wow! I've bookmarked your blog. Do you have some posts on how to train them? Also, how do you deal with a bitey bird? My bird was so friendly and cuddly in the beginning but after she reached sexual maturity she became vicious. Someone said it was because we took her eggs away from her before she rejected them. Could that be the case?
@mysterycheez Thanks for your support :D Well I did wrote a few articles on Target Training and on how you can just in training. Parrot training is no rocket science and anyone can do it as long with persistence, patience and consistency in training. I believe you can do it too. Lovebird tends to be very territorial and very aggressive when maturity especially for the female. For females, they can be very moody during breeding seasons.
@mysterycheez Early this I was parrot-sitting 2 lovebirds & a parrotlet for my friend. One of lovebird was aggressive (my friend actually warned me abt e prob & difficulty in handling him, but he actually turned out to b a female lovebird because she laid eggs 3 mths later). The bite was bad & drew blood quickly. She can't response to step up command & wasn't approach. It took me a few days to get her to step up. Look for article on my blog on "Taming an Aggressive Lovebird". Hope it helps!
@proviewsg Yeah, my lovebird used to go and hide in the bookshelf and start shredding books to build a nest. When I tried to get her out, she would clamp her beak on soooo hard and I remember she drew blood then, too. It was so different from when I used to sit with her sleeping on my shoulder or cuddling up against my neck.
Thanks, I'll look at your article. I don't have a bird now and I don't know when I will ever get one but I do love them and if I ever have one again, it might help!
@PLA29184 Thanks. Technically speaking, I still believe Kiki may not be dead. She actually flew out of the windows 2 years ago and never came back. Seriously I do hope she's doing well no matter where she is. By the way, sorry that the music of video made you cried :(
@proviewsg Oh, don't be sorry. Your video was very beautiful and heart-touching. I always feel sad when a bird dies, or flies away. I lost a parrotlet (Tiki) the same way a few years ago, and it took a long time to get past it, even though, he will still be in my heart. We were very close. I really hope Kiki is still alive out there. :))
@megangatita Many always believed that only bigger parrots can learn many tricks and advanced tricks. In fact, I was actually quite surprise with the learning capability of a small little bird like Kiki. It's seems that there is no limit to the tricks a lovebird can be taught. If Kiki is still around, i believe the number of tricks learned still be counting :D
