I supported his offer of a deal with the Tories. However, Cameron is becoming increasingly unelectable. If he had stuck to his promise of a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, then this deal would have worked. But his policies of so-called renegotiation have made it impossible for UKIP to do deals with him or his party.

An excellent speech but if Lord Pearson becomes leader of UKIP he had better drop the Lord bit . Otherwise voters might think he is a Tory grandee with his moat and duck house.
I dissagree. I'd like to see a hybrid chamber of 200 elected Senators, 100 life peers, 12 law lords and 5 Bishops. That's my vision for the House of Lords.
Very well said and clearly put Lord Pearson. The Lib/Lab/CON supporters need to be confronted with these facts. When confronted with these facts they should acknowledge the error of their ways and renounce their political parties. If they do NOT renounce these parties we will be able to tell they are dishonest people. They are betraying our war dead. Have nothing more to do with them, move on and give the information to decent honest people.
I am concerned that this is the Lord who invited Geert Wilders to show Fitna in UK and having seen the film myself and found it to be propoganda in the truest sense of the word I am now not sure that I can vote UKIP.
@beltanebabe55 What an absurd comment. I'm not even sure I understand it... Are you saying that encouraging free speech is bad? Maybe you should vote for Labour or other Authoratarians. Had you actually listened to Lord Pearson ever you'd know he doesn't entirely agree with Geert Wilders and was encouraging debate not just encouraging agreement with himself, but you don't care about debate do you? Only about your own opinions.
DreadLaw2, I am not saying that free speech is bad I just fail to see how you can have an accurate debate based on the info in the film Fitna or with a person who makes it quite plain that he thinks we are superior to Muslims. A concept I find rediculous and racist.
@beltanebabe55 What? Debate in the Lords is not limited purely to what is presented by a single aprty, that's silly. That's Geert's presentation. Have you never had a debate? Muslim isn't a race, and "we" aren't anything, that's the first racist comment made or referenced. Fitna was also about a book and how groups advocating opinions apply it, which is what debate is about, and as ideas can be inferior, screaming racist is childish and very anti-free speech.
@belttanebabe55, the word you should be using is Sectarian not racist as their are muslims of all colours and therefore not picking out a paticular race!!!!
boltonbobby, I stand corrected. I just am very concerned that what I am seeing here is the same tactic that Adolph Hitler used, he created an enemy of the Jews in order to gain the support he needed to carry out his personal agenda. I strongly feel that Geert Wilders, along with a lot of other people, is doing the same. Just my opinion and my gut feeling. I have friends from loads of countries and religions. When it all comes down to it we are all Family.
UKIP is not sectarian. It stands full square behind the vast majority of peaceful Muslims who are our friends. You only need to worry if you're an extremist.
I did not say ukip was secterian infact i am a member now. I was merely correcting someone on the use of the word racism as it is easly flung like cow poo.
coltrane1966, yes I have and I find it no more disgusting than parts of the Bible. These are ancient writings from long ago. just as most Christians don't follow the Bible word for word most Muslims don't follow the Koran word for word. A lot is misunderstood about the Muslim religion and debate based on the film fitna will not educate or enlighten. It is designed to create fear not understanding. The God in the Bible and the God in the Koran are one and the same.
coltrane1966, I don't know most Muslims but then i don't know most Christians either. I don't have to know everyone personally to understand what makes them tick. If I was to judge lets say Catholics in the same way people judge Muslims I would be calling ALL Catholics child abusers based on what a sick minority have done. I don't and I don't judge all Muslims in that way either. All I know is that the ones I have met have been people just wanting to live their lives like anyone else.
Lord Pearson stated that he did not agreed with everything in the film, but that he just wanted to stimulate a healthy debate about the dangers of radical is Islam. (which is a real danger). So I see no reason to chance your vote because of that.
Tolarjev, If Lord Pearson becomes the leader of UKIP I do see it as a reason to change my vote. For one thing I don't see him as someone who is in touch with life as it is for the average person in the UK, with all it's hardships and struggles. Also I am aware that radical Muslims are a danger but I believe radical Christians can be also. The truth is that most of the Muslims that live in the UK are not radical and don't like radical Muslim ideals any more than we do.
This is the guy I am voting for in the leadership election. I'm pretty sure they would all be ok but there's something about his clarity and they way he delivers the facts.
I wonder if anyone sees that all the political parties in Brittain, or America would ever run as a true "Conservative", that is to stop taking from one man to give to someone else. I think that people are getting really sick of trying to grow a giant oppressive, liberty draining, scandal riddled and self serving political class?!?!
the European system of control is damaging to our nation and our people,
as we the multi-cultural British of many races and creeds must be one and stand up to free our future from the tyranny of the Euro zone .
we in all our diversity are clear when we say we want jobs, economic security, low national debt, and no more globalist methods of control,
we want to be free in our own nation.

How about the Kinnocks dropping their "Lord" and "Lady" bit then?
At least Lord Pearson got his peerage for his achievements in business, unlike those two hypocrites.

Here here! I am fully against hereditary peerages; the House of Lords should be an elected chamber of life peers.
