i like trip hop and i liked de la souls contribution to gorillaz... but... whether its old school or not i just dont get it.. i mean .. theres not really a reason for me to listen to this stuff... rap could tell stories or be used for concept albums (like deltron 3030 or dr octagon), be deeply philosphical.. just clever you know. and dont get me wrong i respect these guys a lot for the influence they have had but can someone please tell me what you find in this? i dont get it. seems a bit dumb

For all of yall hating on the new generation of hip hop, if you didn't know hip-hop is about diversity, it's about love no matter who you are, where you're from, or what you are doing. I listen to new shit mostly, but I don't hate on the old shit cause that was the founding stone to all of hip-hop in it's many forms. From breakdancing on cardboards to pop-lockin in the club, it's all good, it's about expression and sometimes havin fun expressing.

@TheZillaKilla There's still good hip-hop, it's just that the style has changed. Reflection Eternal, Sage Francis, and Atmosphere are some examples of great recent rap artists. The thing is that the industry has shifted, and it seems like the "Lil's" are just trying to replicate a style that's already hit it's peak. What's underground now will be well known in two years (I hope). But you're right about the mainstream hip-hop right now, it does kind of suck.
