Dillinger climbed up on top of, and then stomped the ventilation duct right off the ceiling when I saw them play club sonar in Baltimore! now thats the spirit of rock and roll!
but i wish bands that decided to cover a song and even record it would change the music a little bit, this sounds just like the orginal, and it's sad because DEP is so orginal
I think this is the best Wish cover outthere, bether than the DSP studio version, and way better than LP and Behemoth that sucked balls, but original NIN will always KICK ASS!!!1
Well, Trent Reznor mustn't have thought they did a bad job. Last night at Soundwave in Adelaide he invited DEP on stage to play it with them. It went off!!
The original is always best.. when you cover a song, it's just a tribute to it and the artist, not trying to be better.
Also, this is MUCH better than Behemoth's, which is shit, mainly because of the band's vocals, which to me, sound slurred and almost babbled imo. This occurs in all of that band's songs.
you guys may think this is a terrible cover, but i think its great. Only because I am a Huge fan of NIN and a big fan of Dillinger Escape Plan, and this sounds like a Dillinger Escape Plan song. They're not trying to be like NIN. They are Dillinger and always will be.
That's funny, but listening to PHM, all I can discern from Trent's "heart-wrenching" lyrics is a bunch of "she left me and now I'm boo" bullshit.
I've always though that Reznor ought to stick to instrumentals, and his latest work with Saul Williams seems to be a good direction for him. Truthfully, I haven't listened to him much since 'The Fragile', but he's always struck me as a whiny cunt, with his personal trainers and crying over his dead dog.
Man this is a SWEET cover. I saw DEP live last night for the first time ever. Intense does not even begin to describe it. Posting up vids of that gig on here. I also like their cover of Aphex Twins "Come To Daddy".
NIN and DEP f**kin rock.DEP are completely different to NIN and im really surprised they covered this. They did a good job but it doesnt suit them or their style.
Trent Reznor is a creative genius but DEP is a totally different genre and they are amazing for playing with speed precision and incorporating funk/jazz techniques with metal. Dillinger is an acquired taste and I really won't miss you if you aren't at their next show.... so complain on.
Ok, one of Trent's best. If you don't like it, die. As for the fuckwit that called emo - then apparently need to move out of your mom's basement and get a job.
P.S. And, no, blowing guys behind the local liquor store does not qualify as a "job", as it is tax-exempt.

also: nin is as emo as it gets. i have to hope that d.e.p. covering this was akin to their timberlake cover. if they meant this in earnest, may yahweh help us all.
i am stunned that anyone would mention linkin park after watching a d.e.p. video. unless they were to mention how any member of d.e.p. could easily persuade linkin park's entire line-up to lick their collective taint after an especially rigorous show.
I am a Linkin Park fan, but after seeing their version, oh my god... They turned the song into a joke, this version is so much better... Sure the vocals are a little higher, but it beat the shit out of the entire LP cover... By far...

I completely disagree. i think the LP was far far superior and i really like both DEP and LP and NIN. Out of the 3 i think LPs was best honestly. It accentuated what i liked best about the original.
Everything is great, except the vocals. That band needs a new singer. The music is almost exactly like the real thing. Even trent himself would be proud

Vocally, mis-toned and off key.
Guitar; fairly decent given the idea that in the album guitars don't actually happen until the chorus.
Drums; better of the covers posted via the YOUtube.
However, they miss a few steps in the song effectively ruining the entire attempt at a well produced cover.
12gaugeogre 3 years ago
@12gaugeogre:
They do what they do well considering they don't have any synths or whatnot to exactly replicate the Broken EP version.
And that said I have seen Trent perform this far worse.

Is he serious? Is he pinching his nose while he sings? WTF? That's just awful singing. Put on your hater pants kids, but it's true.
