  • Are u filipino? If u are just to tell u im also filipino

  • great stuff!

the song was so funny :D

    hehehe

  • Are these lessons for Tagalogs or for foreigners wishing to learn Tagalog?

  • These lessons are for anyone who wants to learn Tagalog. There are many Filipinos living in the Philipines who are interested in learning how to speak Tagalog.

  • Thanks a lot. I thought that after decades of teaching Tagalog / Filipino all over the Philippines, everybody should understand their national language. From what you say it has failed. Very interesting.

  • I didn't say that the people who have received instruction from people teaching Tagalog/Filipino all over the Philippines are interested in learning how to speak Tagalog here in YouTube.

Hence, the conclusion that the teaching of Tagalog has failed comes from your own assumption, and not from what I've said. :-)

  • Doesn't matter. I just wanted to tell you your lessons are well made. Congratulations.

  • Thanks!

  • That is so cool- My new yorker friends would love this!

  • Very neat. I'll subscribe and keep watching!

  • u mean.. kumustaka??... yeah tagalog is cool...

  • Salamat sa iyo, kumusta ka naksnakes. Slowly I am understanding more of Tagalog and hope by the time I move to the Philipines, I will have a good understanding of your language.

Maraming salamat sa comments & corrections

    Mag-ingat

    John :-)

  • wow... your good... keep it up... i'm not so expert of tagalog but i can teach you...lol...heheheheh just keep tryin...

  • It's actually spelled with an "A" Kamusta and the "ka" is another word so It should be spelled separately. Kamusta Ka?

  • It is spelt kumustá in my dictionary, and the expressions are Kumustá ka? "How are you?" [singular]& Kumustá kayó? "How are you?" [plural or singular respectful]. It comes from Spanish Como está usted? "How are you?" [singular]. Kamustá is mainly used by uneducated people.

  • Uhmm... I wouldn't go *that* far. :-)

Try living in here in the Philippines for a few months, converse with highly educated people, and see how often they use "kumusta" vs "kamusta." :-)

The point is, the use of "kamusta" or "kumusta" does not depend greatly on whether one is educated or uneducated, as much as it does on a person's conversational environment.

  • Living here in the Philippines. :-)

  • sorry but i use kamusta instead we must remember languages evolve and its not the dictionary that dictates its actually the other way around the dictionary records usage obviously the dictionary you are using is a bit out dated i guess... :P since we borrowed it from "como esta" does it mean we are uneducated as compared to the Spaniards? then the latins are the uneducated greeks the spaniards, the uneducated latins etc., it all depends on the point of view im an uneducated "kamusta" user ;-)
  • @Qcumber it's spelled kumusta? officially it's spelled as 'kamusta', your dictionary is wrong. i went to private schooling & 'kamusta' is the right spelling. the 1 who made your dictionary is probably uneducated

  • @nenabunena Spanish 'como esta usted?" (how are you?) was tagalized as 'kumustá ka?" (same). The "kamustá" form developed later among illiterate people.

  • @Qcumber como esta is spanish, it was filipinised to kamusta - this is common knowledge. If you study languages & the acquisition of foreign words, most lborrowed words are changed phonetically to adopt to the locale. This is true for english, japanese, filipino & every other language. No1 uses kumusta in my understanding, i went to private schooling from nursery until college & post graduate studies, everyone uses 'kamusta', not kumusta. If ur an educated filipino, you should know this

  • @nenabunena In what language were you taught in your schools?
