Many protesters arrested weren't peaceful. They broke windows, tipped over news stands, pushed police officers, and refused to disperse for two hours before the police herded the crowds and took action.

The fact that people even showed up at the RNC to protest reveals ignorance. Do they think they will cause Republicans to change their minds? If you want to make a difference, there are more effective ways, such as thinking rather than emoting to start with.

Uh, actually there were a lot of bistanders and peaceful protesters were arested. A lot of journalists were arrested too. Its hard for the police to tell the difference, but the problem was that many were over zealous. Its an old issue, and its universal. Also, I don't think they want to change the RNC, they want to voice their dissatisfaction. I'm sure a lot of them "thought" before the acted, even though emotion plays a part.
