I've seen many awesome things but none of them are as awesome as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Its my number one favourite anime and will always remain there.

It had everything: character development, a great and engaging plot, an engaging concept, even a slice of life segment in Season 2. To top it all off, it ended on a perfect note. I have watched this entire anime 20 times counting both dubbed and subbed And I have watched over 200 anime series. This is by far, the greatest anime in the history of the world, and if you don't agree, then you either haven't seen it, you have horrible taste in anime, or you found the holy grail of anime and you must post its title as a reply to this so it may be seen by all. But it is likely one of the first 2.

MLP:FiM's plot does have a meaning, but with little carry-over plot continuity like most anime in general have, it's about as deep as a kiddie pool, if not less. The animation in MLP:FiM is not eye vomit to me, but still, it's not appealing. The music in MLP:FiM is.... eh. Overall a good cartoon?

@aboo612 ...not entirely two different things, but depending on the subjects, could be. Taking the two subjects... Gurren Lagann has plot continuity. MLP:FiM has little to none. The core of well known anime is that they have plot continuity. Also, there's a certain "je ne sais quoi" to anime. That's why, debatably, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is considered an American anime. So, yes and no, cartoons and anime are two different things.

We're talking about the epitome of manliness meeting what is based off of a franchise pandering to girls around the ages of 3-7, but somehow also is now pandering...
@seg162 fan made stuff doesn't have to follow the rules of a show, there can be fan made stuff that is completely different from the original in genre, meaning, etc.
there is no reason the two ideas cannot go together in fan made creations, also, being as no one would dare change the meaning behind gurren lagann, the crossovers tend to use the ideas of that and replace the characters with ponies, most commonly making rainbow dash kamina and scootaloo simon, which works perfectly since rainbow...

I will say it does sound weird, i mean without proper knowledge of the subject it sounds like putting singing monkeys in james bond, however with an open mind i believe that one should be able to accept it

i liked avatar a lot, but it left me wanting more when it came to some of the fights.
it seemed like the final fight was going for a homage to goku vs vegeta, but it felt... i don't know scaled back.

Bronies are NOT awesome; they are regular people, the MAJORITY of them thinking that they're SOOOO cool because they're well beyond the age limit and watching a show geared towards little girls. MLP:FiM is NOT awesome; it is a marketing gimmick that somehow gained renown in the internet to the point that it is now SEETHING with it. One talking about their social endeavors is not a deep plot. However, a bildungsroman IS.

@aboo612 And by shallow, I mean, there's nothing deep about it. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DEEP. How it even gained fame is beyond me, but the majority of people are attracted to crap.
On the other hand... you have Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, a semi-famous, but FAR LESS FAMOUS as opposed to MLP:FiM, anime. It's plot means something, giving inspirational speeches while narrating a story. The animation is beautiful, the music is beautiful, and is overall a good anime. That being said...(cont.)

@aboo612 Far less famous? I'm not saying that it's good because it's less famous; I'm saying that it needs more fame than it does. MLP:FiM's plot does have a meaning, but with little carry-over plot continuity like most anime in general have, it's about as deep as a kiddie pool, if not less. The animation in MLP:FiM is not eye vomit to me, but still, it's not appealing. The music in MLP:FiM is.... eh. Overall a good cartoon?

The core of well known anime is that they have plot continuity. Also, there's a certain "je ne sais quoi" to anime. That's why, debatably, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is considered an American anime. So, yes and no, cartoons and anime are two different things.

@seg162 fan made stuff doesn't have to follow the rules of a show, there can be fan made stuff that is completely different from the original in genre, meaning, etc.
there is no reason the two ideas cannot go together in fan made creations, also, being as no one would dare change the meaning behind gurren lagann, the crossovers tend to use the ideas of that and replace the characters with ponies, most commonly making rainbow dash kamina and scootaloo simon, which works perfectly since rainbow...

Also, yes. There was a bit of ambiguity in what I said, I'll say that. The similarities, while you can say they're present, come from two different shows with two different types of genres with two different types of manner of characters with two different types of DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING to the point that *I* would not see how the two could conceptually mix.

I will say it does sound weird, i mean without proper knowledge of the subject it sounds like putting singing monkeys in james bond, however with an open mind i believe that one should be able to accept it

@SiFronOnline a figment of belief and righteous following created by man in an image depicted thousands of years ago which we read in a book. or the son of god. i would almost call kamina a more realistic depiction of jesus. a man achieving freedom and dying so that others may rise and save the damned and opressed. to break free of the holds some may call divine and free others from their illusions of fantasy, (the labyrinth scene). i don't reject Christianity, but i believe in HUMANITY. =)

Ehh, redemption, prosperity, and promised land. Not quite. Kamina didn't bring redemption nor did he lead them to prosperity, nor to a "promised" land. The surface wasn't promised for anyone, no one was in need of redemption. However you are correct that he influenced them positively.
The only thing Kamina shared with Jesus in the Messianic Archetype is sacrifice.
