both of my dogs, a border collie/catahula mix and lab/pittbull mix walk on a tread mill every day as well. if you know anything about high energy dogs, even several long walks a day are not generally enough to burn their energy. we find it to be a great tool for helping them relax, and got the idea from The Dog Whisperer.. they also both love it.. so before you judge people.. you should do some research!
first off the dog on the treadmill is my mom's dog, not mine. and my mom is not lazy, this dog is weird and actually likes walking on the damn thing. the dog does get walks outside but sometimes its too hot for the dog during the summer and she does over heat, or its too snowy and cold in the winter, or its raining and the dog does not like walking in the rain, most don't. this way she gets the exercise she needs to say in shape and excise her energy.
When it comes to the point that dogs need treadmills to help stay in shape and use their energy, something needs to change. (At least she likes it...)

did you train your dog to do that? I tried getting my chihuahua on it but she just jumps off.

are you just too lazy to go take a walk WITH your dog that you've decided to put it on a treadmill?
