Black metal from South America is going to sound different than traditional European black metal. Keep in mind in South America, thrash bands like Sepultura play a big part in the scene's sound.

The extreme is preferred in most countries specially the very south like Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina (Argentina only in the last 10 years or so though).

And many bands sound completely different from anything from Europe or US...

Death Metal tends to be more brutal and sometimes more technical, and there's A LOT of Black/Death bands.
