  • loocks like a carroit

  • @SuperScruffypuppy WHAT THE HECK IS A CARROIT?

  • if you can't be bothered to wait the answer is yes if you pull it apart to get to the dry bit it will eventualy work

  • wilderness

  • waste of flint haha

  • That should be made to float.

  • i can start a fire with wet wood before you can make a fire with that

  • you know what works a lot better? waterproof matches

  • im am going to make some of thows just with whith waxs for my kit

  • im am going to make some of thows just with whith waxs

  • I bought one of these...it is NOT waterproof...the hinge lets water rush in. It would be a very big deal if it fell in water. I tested it. Just FYI.

  • this is even making me mad

  • why would u drop it in the water? -.-

  • @15951Thomas15951 People use these in hiking/camping crap situations I'm guessing. So, if you accidentally drop it, I guess you'd want to know what'd happen to it.

  • try using another lighter lol

  • doesnt that hurt ur fingers

  • If anyone has one of these, isnt it a lot of dead space at the bottem of the lighter?

  • do zippo lighters work when wet?

  • if you got stuck in the wild... you will do whatever you can to survive!!!

    lol

  • waste of weight.

  • I think that if you were in the wild, you would at least have an actual Zippo lighter also, and if it depended on your life, you would use a new stick.

  • lol it fell in the water

  • you almost get it, then you stop and spread the coton.

  • From the moment i knew it worked i would grap some sort of pliers to hold it, looks gay, but i won't burn my fingers, lol...

  • dry as a popcorn fart

  • Thanks Jeff nice video, looks like a cool thing to have in that backpack as a back up fire starter

  • This also goes to show people to try their gear out before it's an emergancy situation to make sure it's gonna do what it should.

  • I actually want one of these...

  • @Richardli25 actually I had to find the time to do this, it was requested

  • u must be really bored.... lol

  • wow i just realized i spent ten minutes watching you strike a wheel

  • what would of been better is if zippo put wax over the hole cotton thing and when u wanted to use it you just pull it apart so if you drop it in the wtar the wax keeps the hole thing coverd

  • "lets fluff this guy up" LOL

  • I just going to buy some F****** Matches.

  • Great vid!! thanks for sharing and the time it took you to make this video.Great job bro!!

  • @BackpackerTom yea, but what hes doing isnt really wet...

  • Thanks, this confirms my initial impression with the Zippo EFS. I'll just bring a magnesium firestarter, which I can soak in water for three days and it'll still work just fine.

  • Good to know Jeff! If you're in a down pour your kind of screwed if you don't take extra care with theses. What do think about replacing the Tinder Sticks with "Wet Fire" slices? Flint still still ignite them?

  • @BackpackerTom technically it didnt light when wet, it lit on a part that didnt get wet, it cant light when wet because the water blocks the oxygen, if there arent sparks, oxygen and the cotton present at the same time a fire cannot start, unless u have like lighter fluid or something...

  • Very interseting video Jeff! I am really considering buying one of these :) thanks, keep up the good work :)

  • theres so many spots in this video the guy should'f said no homo

  • @Nightstalker1968 defimatly you...considering the overwelming majority of viewers enjoyed it, your definatrly the minority here man...

  • @cutlerylover i enjoyed it!

  • @Nightstalker1968 hes an emo??? are u kidding me lol, not even close

  • @Nightstalker1968 from the looks of it a lot of people including me y did u watch even 4 min if your just going to cuss somthing up

  • @Nightstalker1968 Emo? What? You make no sense... Also, if you're going to flame someone on YouTube, how about learning how to write properly first? That way, when you post your randomly insulting comment you don't look like an uneducated moron.

  • @Nightstalker1968 You. 1- How is he emo? I'm just curious why you think that. 2- You can say fuck but instead say fck. Why? Are you afraid your mommy will see so you censor it?

  • @Nightstalker1968 you sir are an asshole

  • @Nightstalker1968 Who has a more emo name, Nightstalker1968 or cuterylover? I SAY NIGHTSTALKER!

  • @milotheamazing Seriosly Josh, whats the point of this comment? On a side note I hate people who live in America and speak foreign languages in public...If you like to speak in your foreign tounge why not move to your foreign land where everyone speaks it?

  • @cutlerylover I concure, if you live in America, speak our language. We don't go to Mexico or any other country or location assuming the people there will understand us completely.

  • @BitOBytes its just rude thats all, do what you want in your own house but in public I fidn it rude, you cna tell your freind or family the person right in frotn of you is an asshole without them knowing what your saying, lol...

  • @cutlerylover jeff rocks

  • @cutlerylover people if they want to speak their native language theyneed to do it in the privacy of their own homes or not at all.

  • I think you two need to get a life

  • @GretelGoldshark and I think YOU should stop trollin'

  • @BitOBytes america has no offical language fyi

  • @CubanRevival fine if it has no official language come into our country knowing every single language invented, you know because people only speaking chinese, russian, italian, ect. could say the same thing

  • @verbaltag i dont know if your comment has any amount of animosity twords me, but i was born in new jersey, and the usa does not have an offical language. just saying.

  • A pair of sopping wet breasts. Their always hot.

  • @milotheamazing and............?

  • Jeez, just get some waterproof matches already!

  • most intristing video ever

  • The most interesting man in the world... likes to try to light cotton for 10 minutes...

  • this video is such a fail

  • @TheMajorMicroMedia2 its an honest test to shwo fi it works and it does, whats a fail?

  • @cutlerylover

the fact that it took you 5 min to stop talking and do something and then not even light shit

  • @TheMajorMicroMedia2 ? this is not an edited video at all...once long shot hesne the longer video...all I did to get it to work is pull apart the wax area to reveal dry cotton

  • @cutlerylover

yea yea i dont care anymore im gonna go take a shit ok

  • @TheMajorMicroMedia2 when ya got to go ya got to go...wouldnt want to hear you shit on your chair trying to argue with me, thats no fun for anyone...

  • this guy tries to light a piece of firestarter for 10 minutes

  • this is dude it just trying to light this one piece of cotton for 10 minutes

  • Yea i dont see this working in rain...

  • Also, consider when this might be used: Maybe you fell into a frozen lake or conditions are cold and wet. Soaking wet, freezing hands that are going numb would not react well to that tiny thumb wheel that barely sparks. And the tinder provided doesn't work well with water, as demonstrated.

I'd spend my 12 bucks on a couple ferro rods that throw much more spark/heat and will last longer than those tiny flints.

  • The more I look at this thing, the more I feel like it was made more for Zippo collectors than for use as a serious survival (or even just for camping) tool.

Even at 12 dollars, I think it's overpriced considering it's capabilities (or lack thereof).

It hardly throws any spark, so I'd imagine trying to use it with any "unmodified" tinder source would be extremely difficult. Also, it just doesn't hold much tinder. God forbid your first couple fires blow out before you can get them started.

  • do regular zippos work when wet that might sound stupid but I was wundering

  • Every hunting rifle I have with a hollow stock has an orange Bic lighters and is full of wax paper.

  • Great video Jeff!!!!!!

  • I had an idea for a small fire kit using this product.. buy two extra things of zippo flints.. and buy extra tinder sticks.. put them all including the kit its self in a small water proof container,,, and boom.. you have a little lite easy kit

  • I'm sorry but this thing seems like the worst idea since scented toilet paper. For $4.00 more I would rather have a strike force that comes with 1 cube of wet fire.

  • @MaximumDensity1 dont forgte its retail, you cna buy these for $12...not to mention for $4 more its not forget same price...yes a strike force is a great option too!

  • Great review jeff i may pick one of these things up

  • oh and......you could just wait for the cotton to dry up.

  • man........GET TO THE POINT!!!!

  • Dude, I think a flint and steel is a way better choice than this as a backup. It wont run out (in your life time), and it's 100% water proof. This is kinda hookey

  • soak it in vasoline

  • the light my fire fire steel and some natural tinder will do better

  • Are the flints regular zippo-flints or something special with more magnesium in it or something? Also the wheel.... regular or more coarse?

I never thought you could lit that soaked cotton. I'll try to wax my tampon-tinder!

  • this is a cool product, but magnesium fire bars produce alot more sparks, but this looks like it's probably lighter in weight. it does have alot less flint though. maybe cut some matches in half and put the half with the head and the striker tab in with the tinder.

  • you can probably make a better tinder stick. melt some wax fromcandle stubs in an empty food can over a sterno can, and tie a string to some cotton balls. then all you have to do is drop it in and pull it out.you can probably find a way to compress the cotton. maybe you can take apart a shotgun shell and lace the cotton with gunpowder-haha!

  • should have held it with one of your many multi tools

  • @VaporGloryYears yes that woudl ahve been a good idea..

  • Nice video Jeff but IMO this product defeats itself. Yep, it doesn't run out of fuel. But it can run out of tinder. If you intend to carry extra tinder, then you might as well pack something simpler. If you just carry the package itself for an emergency - then a normal lighter or zippo has plenty of fuel to meet your needs. Interesting but I don't see a market for it myself.

  • @TheBackyardBushman if you throw the product in a bag and forget about it your capable of lighting 4 fires easily if your smart double that...it will work fien for about 10 years after 10 years you need to replace the flint since they deteriorate, do the sasme with a regular zippo filled and the fluid is gone within a week or 2...yes you cna still spark it but with the chimney it m akes it harder to do...its a good piece of gear in addition to other ways to make fire...

  • @cutlerylover Think about the practacality of this though. For someone who goes backpacking or camping and needs to save weight then why would you want this AND another source to light something? That is extra weight. You double up on a lot of stuff, do you go backpacking? I'm curious about how much your pack weighs.

I think the idea of this is cool but in the end, it isn't practacle.

  • @aquafinabo if you pack a lot for long trips this sint for you...I woudl just pack a few disposabl ighters and a ferrocium rod and fatwood as a backup...lighet package...this is roughly 3-4 ounces...the metal weight is unnesesary, but for an overnight bag its not anythgin to worry about as weight shoudlnt be a big conern...

  • @cutlerylover ok to be fair to the zippo product here... not every one knows how to strike flints... look at the show survivor.. how many times did you want to shake them and yell YOURE DOING IT WRONG!!!

  • @cutlerylover Each to their own I suppose. I'll stick with the firesteel.

  • i would say that if you drop that tinder stick into water i would let it dry in sunlight for for few minutes before trying

  • The flower on the towl.

  • A for effort...

    good video...

  • what if you tried to flip it open, and the entire thing would drop on water (while it's open)?

  • Jeff ROCKS!

  • Cool product. Thanks for sharing, CL.

  • Jeff rocks. :)

  • i guess even if u did soak all the tinders and they didnt light ur not left for dead theres many natural fibres u can use the flint is the most inportant part to making a fire

  • personaly, small zip-lock bag of cotton wool, and a flint strike, costs about,,,,£5 in total.... works alot better

  • use twizzers for an idea for dealing with fire like that... small stuff...

  • ow ow ow. lol :)

  • hahaha "ow ow ow!" Ssssssssss. Lmao. great vid though, i was wondering if that would work

  • dont forget to bring a towel. lolz joke for you. a lion would never cheat on his wife but a tiger wood.

  • dangers of the one take

  • make your own tinder sticks by dipping a q-tip in wax...they burn for over 1 minute

  • Didn't anybody ever told you not to play with fire...

  • thx for the demo.that looks like too godamn much work. i wonder if you could just remove the insert and install a cheap butane lighter with the tinder sticks

  • 2:34 That's what she said

  • he says water in a wierd way

  • instead of buying all the cotton with wax couldnt you just stuff normal cotton balls in there, i know they dont have the wax but it still seems like they would be able to start a fire.

  • whats the advantage of getting a legitimate Zippo versus a chinese knock off. i bought one for 5 bucks the other day and aside from the paint, and wick, it basically the same, what is you take?

  • @Dmajorproductions besides overall quality the fact that I cna have it fixed free for life...no questiosn asked, thats worth the extra few bucks for sure!

  • @cutlerylover really? thats pretty sweet. but to get a real zippo, you have to go to a shop and they will probably card you. i didnt get carded where i bought mine, but i suppose its worth 8 more months and 30 dollars if what you say is true about the warranty. i cant decide between a shamrock or US Army.

  • @Dmajorproductions err.. you could buy them on eBay too. I bought mine off there for $30 and it's legit. I got the 6-point ninja star one haha /asian

  • 2:12 listen closely, is ur stomach growling or something?

  • Jeff rocks

  • you should try this outside

  • dude just spark that shit near your ass and fart as hard as you can and you will fire all the woodland..sure they will find you and then you are going to jail becouse "you farted"

  • Another Great Vid Jeff....if its pouring down rain, and you need a fire...its good to know what will and want work...just about any fire started works when it dry.

  • Nice towel :) I am going to add one of these to my bob, thanks!

  • Still Bic lighters are cheep, weight next to nothing, and you can get them any where. If they get wet rub the wheel against a pant leg/tree till the flint can spark and it will light.

There hard to beat; stilll love my zippos, split pea's, strike anywheres and soo on.

  • rofl you can here it growll dont worry jeff u still rock and mine always grows

  • Jeff Rocks

  • 2:10 listen for the stomach gurgle. C'mon Jeff! Food > videos

i also liked all your food videos. One of those every once and a while would be cool!

  • nice job jeff!!

  • Wow, this video is perfect demonstration of why one should practice with any gear one may rely upon in an emergency. Awesome video, cutlerylover!

  • Jeff Rocks

  • Jeff RAWKS!!!

  • cool piece of gear but I'll stick to my fire steels

  • burn baby burn!

  • Jeff Rocks!!!

  • Patience really is a virtue. Good review yet again.

  • very cool and way to stick with it..

  • Jeff Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cool, good job.

  • "and i just burned my finger again.." LOL

"ow ow OW....." lmao, i just burst out laughing on the spot.

  • haha, you have the same bowl as me :)
