  • erg slecht :-(

  • BRING THEM BACK!

Thousands of pieces of Greek antiquities are hosted in the British Museum. Our campaign does not ask for the return of those.

We ask for the return of the Parthenon Marbles in Greece and the Reunification of the Monument.

We, the users of the Internet obtain power and we are able to mobilize the international public opinion. Our goal can be achieved this way.

Do you believe this is fair? If yes, help this goal come true.

Say your own BRING THEM BACK!

  • Woah thank you so very much YEAROFOX never seen him speak before and I-ve followed him since I first heard SPIRAL. Pure talent and a big statement to defy all those who insist on electronic music being cold and inexpressive. Great posting.

  • I'd been listening to his music for years but amazingly never hard his voice before also ,why can't you buy his live concert dvd's apart from Mythodea?

  • Hi thereWayne4suretlc. Well, as far as I know, there are no live dvds by Vangelis and I seriously doubt I'll se him live :(

  • @wayne4suretlc

Only one album has his " voice" that would be Spiral..not many ppl know that.

  • @MrRetje Dit is the Italian song van Jon & Vangelis

    grtz Cal

  • ik heb inmiddels 52 cd's van vangelis ...

    groet MrRetje

  • @MrRetje

ik weet niet of mijn laatste reactie bij je aan is gekomen, maar ik denk dat het 'Come To Me' is

    grtz

    Cal

  • Spiral is my faviorate

  • What is the piece about 4:20 - 6:00?

  • Spiral

    (I'm not 100% sure though :)

  • its spiral indeed

  • Spiral =D

  • The music of Vangelis is pure magic...

  • Does anybody know where I can find any future concerts of Vangelis?

  • If you ever find out, please let me know where I could find Vangelis' next concert. He has been my favorite for 20 years.

  • vangelis you must visit manchester uk

  • For those who may not realize... Vangelis is THE MAN!

    Leuke post! Thanks.

  • Vangelis Papathanasiou

  • Great post

  • I AM PROUD HE IS MY CO-PATRIOT.

VANGELIS, you make me proud of being Greek.

  • I remember one summer long ago, walking on the hot summer beach alone with my prized new "portable" Sony Pro Cassette Walkmen and headphones and listening to a tape of Vangelis's music. I suddenly had this euphoric feeling. What a special memory - I can still bring back that perfect combination of sun, blue waves and Vangelis's music going through my head :)

  • I remember listening to a minitape my dad had on the very first stereo headphones available,1980?It was Antarctica.Switched on Bach too.Really made an impression on me.

    vangelis is the god

  • I remember this, I was 18 years old back then, the weather was bad that day, his synths got wet real good.

In that same year, only a couple of months later, I joined the Dutch Defence Forces...good times.

  • Same here, same age, remember missing the metro to spijkenisse after this show. The parents of the friend i stayed with had to come and pick us up, they were not amused, we didn't care, the show was awesome. Same scenery was used in Jackie Chan Who am I. They used Pakhoed building for a great stunt. Vangelis used it for laser projection.

  • vangelis is the man, his music is all known all over the world, his melodies are very evocatives but his character is quite close shy and misterious, like one of his themes, vangelis is the unknown man....

  • Wait, Jon and Vangelis actually appeared live together in '91? There had to have been some serious "burying of the hatchet" after the whole Page of Life debacle for *that* to happen.

  • the rift between the two only occurred after Jon released his version of "page of life" in 1998 which used some variations of the tracks without Vangelis's approval..and this led to the issues.

  • Actually we both have it wrong: Page of Life came out in August of 1991 (according to Amazon, anyway). If this event was in June then perhaps the shit had yet to hit the fan regarding what Jon had done. This event was probably the last time the two worked together. Shame, really...

  • nop... the original "page of life" was released in 91 ..Jon released a version of it in 98..there are two versions..each have differnt covers and slightly different to very different versions of the tracks, and indeed different tracks alltogether.Vangelis never gave the 2nd version his blessing and is what lead to the problems.

  • Jean Michel Jarre', Tomita, Tangerine Dream, Enigma, Delirium, Pink Floyd...all greats. But no one is as prolific, as celestial, as grand or as great a composer as Vangelis. His music transcends all words. It's wonder and depth consistently describe the true emotion and awe in life. And, he rarely...if ever...repeats a chord sequence, a melody or a sound. True genius! I've created my best artwork whilst listening to his music...since 1976.

  • @ShoraAlchemist24601

Should try making art with Lisa gerrard in the background

  • @ShoraAlchemist24601 He Vangelis is the best, the very BEST!!

  • DANKE FOR VIDEO

  • Absolutely amazing... so far the best.

  • Vangelis is probably the best living composer! I could lose myself in my mind listening to his music!!!! Jarré and the others are great as well but, personally, I consider Vangelis a step higher. Most of the composer cited by Nadaaf reached the excellence with some songs, but Vangelis did it more constantly!!!! A living Genius!!!!

  • I would as far as saying he is the best composer ever!! But that of course is my humble opinion

  • Who can tell me which trach he's playing at 6.10??? Please Please i want to know!!!

  • Ooopppsss I mean which track

  • The track is Chung Kuo.

Vangelis is a Genious, I love his music style.

  • Thank you!!!!

  • the song is titled chung kuo from the album china

  • vangelis & michael cretu rock!

  • ..kriptomera..vangelis is great.. but dont forget Jean michel jarre, Kitaro, Mike oldfield, kraftwerk, ..last but not least...Giorgio moroder!...

  • It seems that, for you, if smbd's playing the keyboards, it's the same shit, right? Wtf has to do Kraftwerk with Mike Oldfield? They have nothing, but NOTHING in common! (except the "keyboards" thing). Or you have an "electroniclate70s&early80s" category, where you put all of these? And Giorgio Moroder was never conceptual. Funny and melodical - kind of. Successfuly comercial - YES. Deep? I don't think so.

  • and remember...Tangerine Dream and Isao Tomita.....but they are all different styles. The best sounding ones in the 70s were Vangelis and Jarre. Moroder's From Here to Eternity is one of my all time favorites in the synth world. Great piece of music.

  • sakamoto, ray lynch, enya....

  • he is a living genius!

he'll become a great part of the history of music... have never heard anything stronger than his tunes!

  • Did somebody say that YANNI is better than Vangelis!? WTF!?!?

  • wonderful

  • Thanks for posting this. I remember reading in Lighting & Sound International, just after the concert took place, that for this concert they had a 7,500K sound system ! That is HUGE. I would of loved to of been there.

  • i rembember seeing him live back then :-)

  • I love Vangelis since a was 12 years old, during the 80's. But a don't swallow playback presentations in music shows!

  • This was cold event of excellents.

It was an show over four hours. And so far I know the first show whit an laser show that big.

Also to the left en right of the floating podium there where two harbour cranes dancing to each other. It where fugge cranes named giant one and two.

At the and a giant sigma sing came down. But that was send shown on tv.

In Holland de tros showt it life on tv till midnight.

For so far I know there is no video or dvd of the show.

  • Could ask the tros.. They might still have the tapes in their archive. I know I will.

  • Love the riffs at 4:10 What a soundscape of majesty this performance is. Does anyone know what song that piece is from?

  • spiral from 1989

  • Spiral, 1979

  • at 4:10 the song "spiral" starts from the album of the same name. spiral was the first of MANY songs that made me realise his musical Genius

  • thanks for the big spiral bit

  • If anyone knows of a video/beta/DVD of this concert from Netherlands please post. Thanks in advance.

  • I wished I got tape that show , I am from Holland I have seen it too

  • Yanni is better, and Mike Oldfield puts them both to shame.

  • One of the greatest ever modern day composers.

  • Vangelis is one of today's most incredibles human beings a. It seems as if the spirit of the ancient greeks is alive in him and in his music.

  • he is the best.

  • I'm afraid everything he's performing is sampled and "ready made"... Well, I love him anyway : )

  • You never know with electronic music that I love and have collected over 20 years and more. Not sure about Vangelis but I get that feeling with Jarre and the crowds he usually takes onto stage with him.

  • Yeah, this is awesome... it's cool to see him talking to the camera... he doesn't much like giving interviews...

  • Vangelis is the best Genius

  • I read the review of this gig in Light And Sound International. They used 7500kw of sound. Thats HUGE. Jean-Michel Jarre's 1990 Paris La Defense concert used 2500k, to put it into perspective. Thanks for posting this video. I wish they would bring it out on DVD. Think again.. 7500KW of sound system LOL !!!

  • Led Zeppelin in their heyday used a 70,000 Watt sound system and were often branded as too loud. How does 7500kw compare to 70,000 Watt? Lol! :)

  • It compares as Ledz 70,000W against Vangelis 7,500,000W

    Learn your suffixes.

  • Who made you the spelling meister---dick!

  • How mature of you. Please stay on topic.

  • Do they make headphones that powerfull...hehehe

  • @oxygene65

I would have love to sitting in a cafe outside somewhere in downtown Rotterdam...I am sure that the whole city was listening that night.

  • just amazing! Pulstar.... Spiral....Chariots of fire....China...

He speaks so nice and gently. Great Video!

  • he´s fat, but hés a fucking genius. I love the Portraits album, which contains all his great hits, including some sung by another genius of the vocals: Jon Anderson.

  • He's fat? Well, he speaks English with an accent too. And what do either of these things have to do with his music???

  • being fat has NOTHING to do with his amazing music. I said he's a genius. Sorry if this comment sparked anger in you. I just stated a fact. Maybe an obvious one.

  • Idiot, stupid fuck...

  • vangelis is a genius...

  • Fantastic!! My dad had the whole concert on video.

  • You should consider transferring it to a PC, getting a director's account, and uploading it to this site!

  • @TheKegmaster es un genio vangelis

  • fuck the yanni

  • WHY IN THE (HEAVEN &) HELL! THERE ARE NO VIDEOCLIPS OF THE 70s AND 80s OF VANGELIS????

AT LEAST THIS CONCERT OF MASTERPIECES SOULD BE ON DVD!

  • great performance.. wish i was here to ear the pieces of 70's music made from vangelis, the early 70's albums.. so great !

  • why is this not on video?

  • simply wonderful,music from a superior race

  • lindo!
