Someone needs to write to the Census and ask them to clarify what a " Negro" is and furthermore distinguish them from blacks..... African Americans are those who great-grandfathers actually chucked spears in Africa...anyone three generations or more removed from that continent arent african amercians.......
ok i guess u still think you latin american or hispanic or something. go to a bathroom cut the lights out. wait for it wait for it cut the light on and poof your still black
The word Negro was used in the English-speaking world to refer to a person of black ancestry or appearance, whether of African descent or not, prior to the shift in the lexicon of American and worldwide classification of race and ethnicity in the late 1960s.
The word "negro" means "black" in Spanish and Portuguese[1], from the Latin niger ("black").
The usage was accepted as normal, even by people classified as Negros, until the Civil Rights movement.
I think you're onto something about this Census crap. Why on Earth would they think leaving the word Negro on the app was cool? You made some good points, and I think reconsidering that portion is certainly worth it. It says alot about the people behind the scenes to allow this to happen. I'm also with you on the whole DC public school thing. If you really want to get into something, talk about the Red dogs ducking the health care plan. That's something to talk about.
