@SilentGunman Man, you're right!!! I noticed that too, and I think it's intentional. Also that visual reminds me the mask of the 'old man' from The Musical Box a lot. :)
@mypalchester LOL I hear ya. It's hard to date a girl who doesn't like your fav bands or rolls her eyes when you sing along to those golden "oldies" from the 70's or 80's. I think you made a smart move.
This is brilliant. Thank you guys for the intelligent, positive comments. Genesis are one of the greatest bands ever - no question. The diversity, quality and breadth of their back catalogue from Gabriel to Collins is almost peerless. What more could you want from music. This is make-me-go-squidgy class, class, class! Also: Mr Collins happens to have a voice in a million. In particular, his vocals on 'Squonk' and 'Eleventh Earl Of Mar' are among the best deliveries I have ever heard.
The editing on this concert is AWFUL. I want to watch them play the instruments but it cuts every 2 seconds so you can't get a decent look at anyone. So annoying.
I used to love it when DJ's would play both HBTS's on AOR. I don't think I have heard HBTS on the radio for 20 years, now. Oh well, glad I found it here, cause my cassette just broke and I was seriously bummed.
Everyone requesting Rock Band... (and please correct me if I'm wrong).. There isn't a keyboard for Rock Band is there? Because basically the person would need two of them, and might actually have to know how to play the instrument to even come close to what Banks plays. I hate to say it, but without Banks, there is no Genesis. (Unless you count Horizons, Entangled, More Fool Me, and a handful of other songs on Wind & Wuthering, but even then Banks played 12-string)
@richardhalo You're talking about the missing In The Cage Medley, aren't you? I know how it feels. Good thing? It WAS recorded in audio form, so the audio still exists (Genesis Movement Torrents). :)
@jlc7300 Supposedly Phil Can't even drum anymore so if genesis were to do anymore performances theyd need him even though they're all getting old sadly and I missed them by over 30 years :'(
@SirJeffJones1 haha, yes I remember the beer bottles flying, not funny really, but he must have been really bad, I don't actually remember his set at all. I sailed past Collin's house on Lake Geneva recently, he has certainly done very nicely thankyou.
Hey, I was there, just to the right of the stage, this set was incredible, Collins and Thompson on drums (I saw Santana recently, I'm sure Chester was on keyboards). Paul Young did the warm up, and got booed off!
@SirJeffJones1 My 14 year old son has just walked in wearing the tour tee shirt I bought that night, won't fit me anymore in this lifetime, the legend lives on.
If you were like me and saw this live you can appreciate the power of this sound in a way that`s hard to describe. It buzzed the seats in the arena...
@jlc7300 SOME PEOPLE CALLED THEMSELVES FANS DON'T THINK AS WE , ALWAYS TRYING TO PUT DOWN THE GRANDEUR OF PHIL ... BUT QUALITY AND GENIALITY ARE NOT ABLE TO MAKE US DOUBT OF ITS... GREAT GENESIS GREAT PHIL...! PEOPLE THERE DEMOSTRATE HOW MUCH ALL US LOVE THIS!
@jlc7300.......How great is a band that never really had any other band start the show for them - from what I understand it was always just a Genesis show from the very beginning - simply cuz there was no one else out there at all like them. I saw them in Winnipeg in the 70's and they played from about 8 til midnight with only one 15 min break - like who does that anymore???!!!
Usually live versions of songs are either inferior or just plain suck compared to the studio version. "Second Home By The Sea" is nothing short of a masterpiece & it is a great example of a live version being superior to the one on the album.
What do you mean "fashion mistakes? " This was the 80's, anything goes! lol! I think Phil could have performed in his pajamas and nobody would have minded! The music speaks for it's self.
