i have heard mixed reviews about how effective the waterproofing is. some people say they sat in rain for 4 hours and were dry, others have said their shoulders got wet after about 20 minutes. could you please tell me what your experience has been? thanks.
I found one of these things. I had a tough choice between this and a issue high-loft fleece. Two different beasts but I decided on the high-loft (on sale and i had a coupon for it so it was practically free) for my parka.
My only problem with it is that there is a lot of tacticool in it. The two things I didn't like about it is the rubber cuffs doesn't stay attached very well. Finally, the zippers had really tiny teeth which is usually the deal-breaker if I'm on the fence about a product.
@AGA151994 Yup that should be fine. If you wanted to throw a fleece under it, go with a Med. They are on Pre-Order sale right now at the shop and we throw in a free fleece cap!

Looks great! Only problem is: it appears to be it's too short to cover anything except an Inside the Waistband (IWB) holster... If I could suggest making it just a little bit longer cut to cover a holster for conceal carry.... Softshells are great for Spring/Fall concealment if they are cut long enough.
@wolverine223 We normally say go with the normal size you would wear. Id say go bigger if your wanting to possibly stick a fleece or anything else under the jacket, it may be snug if you just go with an XL.
You say thats a medium? I hear a lot of people say I should buy a size larger because they tend to size it a bit small. Then again there are a lot of fat Americans out there. I am 140 pounds and 5' 7'' and I am trying to decide between the medium or the large.
I would definitely say go with the Medium. You will be floating in a large. You are a bit shorter then I am, and around the same weight. I would suggest a Med.
Sorry for not getting back to you. We have been super busy trying to get order packed ect.. This 44" of snow that we got was a killer! Two back to back blizzards is horrible! The next shipment should be late March =(
Nice review. Would you recommend this coat for normal cold winter weather? I live in central IL, and temperatures are usually in the low mid teens to mid 20s. I am looking for a winter jacket that can provide warmth without having to layer fleece under it. It sounds like the coat has a fleece lining similar to the micro fleece jacket. Is this correct? Thanks.
Thanks for the question. I would recommend this jacket as a winter jacket. It keep you very warm, even in the high winds. I was able to test this out twice in blizzard conditions. Most recent would be this past Friday and Sat. We had an official snow fall total of 28.9" with 44mph wind gusts. At point there were 4' of snow on the ground. Wore this jacket (only had a thermal on under it) and it kept me very warm, and at the same time so light. There is a fleece like lining on the inside!
It being windproof is the key. The fleece like lining is much thinner than the micro fleece jacket but if you invest in perhaps a wool shirt or sweater (perhaps smartwool because the weave is tight and just as, if not more warm than regular wool without the bulk), you should be REALLY good to go!
TAD Gear Stealth Hoodie rip off from top to bottom. But for the price, it is a decent option. I bet its performance will suck compared to TAD though. Still, I might consider one just to compare to my TAD Spectre hoodie. So far, all knock off TAD products suck in comparison that I have tried.
@stareandwonder They deffinetly look the same, but the performance is up there. This si a really well built jacket. We have some operaters who use this jacket who have or have used the TAD gear (and others) who think that this jacket is onpar if not better then some. Try it out its deffinetly worth it! We only have a few colors and sizes instock right now but more are on thier way.
I just got mine yesterday in Foliage, and LOVE it. It is actually more like a dark gray though, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
You have to be careful though if you walk around in the city, because the color will make you almost into a peripheral ghost of sorts, and people will probably almost run you over while walking the cross walks if you don't have a strobe flashlight... this happened to me yesterday as I tested it in the rain. :o( I almost got ran over! **yikes**
Well right now were almost out of stock on all sizes. WE have 1 Tan large and I believe a 2xl black, but we have a new shipment coming in, in about a week. After tehy get here they ship asap and get to most of the country in 2-3 days.
Hi I'm interested on this jacket, however i don't know what size to get. You said you where wearing medium size, may I know what your height and weight is so i can have an idea on what to get? thanks
Hey Man, Sorry for the dealy. We were away for the holdiay. We now have sizing charts up for the jacket feel free to check them out.
I am 5'9" 150lbs of a lean mean fighting machine lol ok, maybe not. I usually wear small, but this jacket is pretty good, I dont feel like im floating in it.
I've been eying this jacket for a while now. But I don't know it's sizing. You mentioned you where wearing medium, the jacket kinda looks big on you. May I know your height and your weight? This might help me decide n which size to get. Thanks.
