They do break down eventually, everthing does, but I would think the Kia after say 125miles and the Merc 300.000miles. I live in europe and anyone will tell you, mercs can go that easy. On the fuel yr right, thats why the elite cars are going with hybrids etc. Merc has a blue efficicny out now.

Actually the argument about the Kia vs the Mb is a no brainer, the MB even from a financial point of view. Technically the Kia cannot match it, you say it yr self by quoting "half". Do you know the testing that goes into creating a MB? The issue is indeed money. if you dont have it then you will need to settle for less, but actually the MB is better. The depreciation on a Mb is much less as it has incredible resale value. ask any leasing company.

The only thing that Kia cant match is the resale value. Like I said before, Kia has come a long way in quality, and I have never seen a Kia stranded on the road, on the other hand I have never seen a MB stranded either. Mercedes has been slipping in quality recently so you reallt can't throw that in my face. Im speaking from experience. I dont see the pupose of throwing money away on a 60,000 MB E Class when I can get the same thing for 30,000 on a Kia Amanti, Hyundai Azera or Hyundai Genesis.

If you buy a 2009 KIA and keep it 10 years, if it last that long you will be lucky to get 5% of what you paid for it, whilst the MB will still have at least 15% of its value and they are known for averaging, yes averaging over 300K miles. In Europe people drive them not to say they drive an MBbut for its quality, actually they are used for taxis in Holland and Germany because of its comfort and durability.

The Amanti (Opirus in Germany) indeed is well equipped but I disagree: it is not completely on par with an E-class. Ignoring any image-crap, you still can tell and feel that it is not a Mercedes. KIAs are bargains, KIA owners know that and mostly important: they expect nothing more and nothing less. That being said by a satisfied Morning/Picanto owner who has "known" a Clarus/Credos (which really stood behind) for about nine years. Personally, I'd like a Ceed SW, too. Good car for the money.
