My history teacher (caucasian) showed us this movie today and said it was his favorite movie ever. That just speaks volumes to the great execution of the film and the tremendous actors. I almost feel connected to them until i remember theyre actors. Moments like these make me proud to be an african american, and show our true abilities if we put passion into it
This is a very powerful scene. Denzel and Morgan both deserved an Oscar for their performances. The final scene is what gets me everytime. So much racism and foolish beliefs that blacks weren't worthy to serve along side the whites. In the end they all ended up in the same massive grave. Death recognizes no color. Its there wating for us all. When will we all understand that we're more alike than we are different.
A cruel irony: the only way they could validate their lives was to risk death. Like Denzel's character, most of these guys had no family, no money, no rights, no freedom, no citizenship. This was their only shot at being something other than slaves.
I loved this movie........I am a white guy from the North and it is always nice to be reminded that without the African Americans, we would have lost the Civil War.
hollywood at its best.

Still amazes me that this is the only movie in which both Denzel and Morgan shared the screen.
