The Sunderland at the RAF Museum was given by the French as Britain had failed to preserve an example although one at Singapore was lined up for preservation but it was accidentally damaged beyond repair so could not be flown home. Another Sunderland in Britain also came from France at a later date- it had been used as a night club!
Most of the footage is from the movie, Coastal Command, shot during the war. A great flick with a good plug for the "ozzies". If you catch the original, Dad said they never talked that way in real life, but they did camp it up for the movie. Sound much better in French, although I am not sue about the line about le derriere. A rather rude way to talk about the back of one's boat.
