Other than Chara, who are the hardest and "heaviest" shots in today's game? Shea Weber's got to be there. Who else? Any goalies out there care to comment? As a former defenseman in my playing days who blocked quite a few shots, it takes a certain kind of craziness or courage to become a goalie and serve as a human target, more or less, all the time. Even so, I am amazed at how many shots today's position player block. It's a big difference between today's game and the 1970s and 1980s.

Chara is a beast, no question. Makes me wonder if goalies today say the same things about his shot that netminders used to say about Bobby Hull's slapshot, which was clocked at 118 mph in one test. Many of the goalies Hull faced declined to wear a mask; no wonder those guys didn't drop to their knees to stop shots. It must have been worth your life and sanity to face guys with big shots back in "banana blade" days. So, does Chara break his own skills record next year?
