Wow. This is awesome. I have Celiac, was diagnosed when I was 15, 9 years ago. I omit gluten, however cross-contamination still gets be sick sometimes, unfortunately. What are the other steps you advise to help reverse the autoimmune disease? Thank you!!
@zuzuhappysgirl many new books on gluten free diet, but hey we have the internet, key in gluten free diet. and gluten free recipes. all free.......and Delight magazine dot com.
I was diagnosed with RA 18 years ago when I was 19 years old. Been eating a strict GF diet for almost 3 years and have been off ALL my meds for about 2 1/2 years. I wouldn't believe my own story if I weren't actually living it! Still waiting for the carpet to be pulled out from underneath me but so far so good. Virtually pain free and going to the gym 4-5 days a week. Never felt better!
Do you believe it is possible to potentially eat wheat again for someone who is gluten intolerant? I have been on a strict gluten free diet for almost a year now. I've been taking pro-biotic supplements to try and repopulate my cultures. I also followed my doctors Anti Inflammatory diet for a month to try jump starting the healing process. Based upon the steps that I'm taking, do you think I can retrain my autoimmune system? If so, what is best approach to retrain my auto immune system?
@sk8erboob Why would you want to eat wheat again? It would make life easier to be able to eat wheat, but the goal is to heal our bodies and prevent disease, not 'be able to eat wheat again.'
@jlauralee I'm not on a quest to eat wheat. I'm on a quest to understand my body and potential medical breakthroughs that can help reverse my gluten intolerance. This does not mean I'm going to revert back to wheat. I really enjoy my whole foods diet. However, i'd much rather my avoidance of wheat be optional. I think our bodies are capable of curing just about everything naturally. It's just discovering how to do so. That is the quest I'm on.
@sk8erboob for me I had 50 years of pain with each and every meal. my uncle had celiac it showed up as they took biopsy when he was dying of colon cancer. the whole family had arthritis and this gene thing re: celiac....without the wheat my life is 100 percent better.....for me it is not optional, plus the food tastes better that I eat now, and NO more pain. wow. the whole family is doing this others for heart and arthritis.
@jlauralee even Wal-mart has gluten free cake mixes now, my waffle iron totally rocks.......and fresh veg and fruit are so good. also nuts with cinnamon and spices, roast at home for movie star treat, and popcorn is fine too.....takes about a year to find what you can eat, my diet is much better in every way without wheat.
Does this study speak to calming the immune system once you have anti-(insert organ here) antibodies being made? Or do you have to catch it before your body makes them?
@Cypressmyst VERY good question! The good news is that it is felt that it can still be reversed after the antibodies are being made to the organ's tissue itself since the true cause is being addressed. We certainly have seen it in patients.
