Rickles compares him with Carson and their similar midwestern type of personality that works well with his antagonistic comedy. You might think that Letterman is a "talentless fuckup", but it seems that Rickles think he gives a fairly "good interview".

Rickles is a perfect example of my belief that if you can't take a joke, then you should fuck off. It's a joke. He's a comedian. He's not racist. It's annoying to hear people these days saying things like "no racism, no sexism, no political jokes," and putting limitation on what is and is not crossing the proverbial line. Well, fuck that. Comedy is comedy, and it's been around since time immemorial. Funny is funny, and nobody has the right to lay borders in comedy. It's a fucking joke.
