The baby swapping thing was sort of neat at first, but quickly just became an annoyance/chore.
The graphics were worse than it's SNES predecessor, which is odd since the DS is supposed to have more power.
But, I guess that is what you get when Nintendo hires a shovel ware developer to make their game.
Are the bosses the same from the GBA remake? I have the GBA remake and I started replaying it (lol I havent played it for around 6 years). This was one of my favorite games as a kid XD
@CreationsFlare because the snes has more memory then a hand held like the DS. kinda like pixels, since with the snes your using a TV, for a 3D game, for example, the TV has more room for more pixels, more pixels means more rounded edges and better graphics. the DS has a smaller screen so less pixels, so the 3D games have really flat and sharp edges, so its the same with memory. less room for better mechanics.
It's funny how in this game both of the World 1 bosses are defeated by stripping them naked. You egg the pants off of the Burt Bros. and remove the balls covering Gilbert The Gooey's body. They also get embarassed after defeating them.
Too bad even the boss music is not as good as in the original Yoshi's Island. However, YI DS is a very good platformer... but not that worthy as a sequel to one of the best platformers ever made. ;)

It seems to be an obvious homage to the original first mini-boss in the predecessor for the SNES, in which the boss is defeated by being embarrassed by the fact that it's naked. It's very poorly executed as a homage (more or less just recycled material), and isn't visible to people who didn't play the original (or for that matter, it's kinda difficult even for people who did play the original to tell).
@ApinaMiesification what other people would call a port...it was already ported to GBA and is available on the virtual console another port is pointless...though it would have been good to have it included as an unlockable :)
Seriously, what are you complaining at? This game is funny, highly playable, and stayed so true to the original one, much better than the N64 Yoshi's Island, which was crappy. This one is the best sequel that I can possible imagine. Same gameplay, same style, almost same graphics, different story. Another port would be a pain in the ass.

Lol my friend let me borrow her Yoshi's Island DS and I had an Action Replay so I played it with that and I had the code that you throw like a million eggs (and apparently keys too) and it let you throw keys until you go through a door/pipe...
YOU CAN'T THROW JACK!!! not your eggs. not your keys... nothing... and a little while after that... My Action Replay crashed... EVERYTHING got deleted some how... I'm just telling you... ACTION REPLAY SUCKS!!!
i played both snes and ds versions, the snes version is still one of my fav games, but this....after i went through it, i never rly played it again, it's harder, but not challenging, just annoying, very-very annoying, the soundtrack is boring except 1-2 song and overall, it had lost a lot of it's colorfulness. This game as a whole wasn't too bad, but it didn't have the polish the original had. The soundtrack is terrible when compared to the first and a lot of the new graphics are mismatched/poorly drawn.
I just notice that in the original, message boxes used a font that actually looked like chalk, but this time they decided to just slap in the DS's default font and not even bother to make a custom font. It may sound nitpicky to complain about things like that, but all of those problems really add up.

Anyways I've played both and I enjoy both, I guess I'm the only one who was thankful that there was a new Yoshi's Island game because I was still hungry for more after beating the first one and simply erasing one file from the first and playing through it again and again wasn't filling that spot. I wanted a new one that had new bosses and levels. Plus I hear how many people tear on this game so much as if it's the worst game in the Yoshi series *2bcont.*

Plus I hear how many people tear on this game as if it's the worst game in the Yoshi series, at least it still plays like Yoshi's island with a few new stuff added unlike Yoshi's Story which threw a ton of stuff from Yoshi's Island out the window. And it's not another minigame collection like Touch and Go, also its a huge improvement over Artoon's first attempt at a Yoshi game Yoshi Topsy Turvy (also known as Universal garvitation) *2bcont.*

I was actually happy that there was a Yoshi game that was finally going to be more true to Yoshi's Island than the rest of those games but geeze everyone seems to forget about those other Yoshi games that came before YIDS believe Me since I've played those games I know they are much worse, geeze I'm the only one who was thankful for a new true sequel to Yoshi's Island after wanting one for so long and too many people neglect to remember the other Yoshi games that came out between YI and YIDS.

i tried this game believe it or not at the end i ripped off the DS card with the microchip to pieces. THIS GAME SUCKS. all you do is run around random places and doing impossible stuff. why the last level is a insult to all yoshi games. each level toward the final boss is for one of the babies. THEY ARE STUPID! bowsers jr's level is impossible because of the ice and peaches level SUCKS. mario's is just downright sad wario's is confusing and donkey kongs is STUPID!
i give this game a -10/10

@superduperfunz I get that you don't like the game but isn't destroying the game cartridge itself you know a bit of a childish thing to do? If you don't like the game you could simply just take into the store it came from and refund your money and buy something different. As a Sonic fan who's not in the whining portion of the Sonic fandom I knew Sonic fans can act like children but Mario fans going as far to destroy a game cart for such reasons? I didn't know Mario fans were that childish

This looks like a cheap hack that someone made, not a DS remake.

It's a sequel, not a remake. But yes, the SNES original is far better looking than the GBA port of the first Yoshi's Island.

I love both lol.
I don't compare video games to other games. I just adapt and love them for what they are. Not what they could be =P.
The only game I do compare to other installments is the NBA Street Volumes because I KNOW that NBA Street Vol.2 is the best. You get my point though lol which is why I am sick of all of these Melee and Brawl fags arguing. *Ugh* xD
