Yes, we are such short-sighted nation that no one in our government had the foresight to cut down the sequioa giants so they wouldn't fall on our SUVs. BUT you are wrong about Mother Nature being cruel. If she was cruel, she would have waited until the young man got back into his Cherokee before crushing it! This was just a warning not to fool with one of Mother Nature's most magnificent creations.

Man, sorry for what happened, glad you are ok. Really shows the power and weight of these old trees. To flatten a Cherokee like a pancake must take some serious weight and force. Just glad no one got hurt or worse.

Look at the bright side. How many people on this planet can make YOUR claim that their vehicle was utterly destroyed by a Giant Sequoia falling on it? I am certain that YOU are the FIRST and ONLY person in the history of our Planet that can truthfully make that claim. As a frequent visitor to Kings Canyon with it's Giant Sequoia's, I performed a little research on this out of curiosity. According to what I can determine, the last time a Giant fell,( Recorded & Documented ) was in 1966 @ Big Tree's St.Park, Calavaras Co.Ca.( About 80 Miles S.S.W from Tahoe ). Nothing was destroyed. But, The CLOSEST Ranger Stn. at the time was OVER 20 Miles away, & Two Rangers thought it was an earthquake. It was 3 days later when one of them discovered the cause of the "Quake"
