  • looks kindof cheap

  • Even though it may look ugly, and some may find it to be somewhat expensive, My High school provides these laptops for Freshman-Seniors. It is good, no more notebooks, and the heavy textbooks are turned into E-Books.

  • how much does it cost

  • Now that looks really ugly...

  • this is intel's attempt to kill the OLPC which instead ushered upon us the well known class of "netbooks" if it were not for cooperate greed, i wouldn't have my netbook >: P ultiatly i would prefer my netbook to have at least a core solo. Fun fact: 90% of the atom's processor issues are adobe's fault.

  • price?

  • @zoidbetag 325 -359 €

  • 500$

  • eee pc is better.

  • ugly shit

  • incredible thats great i wont one

  • i want one of these..but with windows 7 and a bigger HDD

  • yo compre una y me duro 1 semana me cambiaron el teclado se quedaba pegada la tecla "p" y eso que la cudaba mucho un saludo desde Guadalajara mexico

  • stupid comment about the pretentious korny lame people of saharan area.

i dont like people with big gold watches.

    F OFF.

u will never get a real life. so much abusing of other human beings.

  • I don't know, still looks too fancy for a really really poor country. This is good for countries like Bolivia or Nicaragua... definitely not for sub Saharan countries..

  • Mit Griff zum wegwerfen... klasse!

  • so is it an notebook or a netbook???

  • I dont know... the Idea is Pretty Cool... But... the Design... is kinda "Ugly"... :p

Is just my point of view...

  • Great ideas. I'de buy one for both of my sons for their class work.

One thought: I think the school systems here in Texas would need wireless connectivity within their classrooms. Right now as I understand it they don't allow outside PCs to plug into their network (if that is an extra optional add-on). THis way kids could log in with their school district user id and get access to resources.

  • kinda gay...

  • Battery time?????

  • Perfect for kids.

  • Yay -- I want to throw it!

  • if it would have a dvd device i would buy it... but it has not. thats a pitty!

PM: i saw that women on the background^^

  • One question : Why do you want a DVD burner/player in a computer? I used mine like three times in a year and I could have done without it.

With todays technology, high performance network connection and clever design (I'm talking about Apple MacBook Air here as an example) you can even install the OS over a network. And the best of all, you don't have to worry about losing data with a scratch since everything is in the cloud.

  • Its very stupid the screen turning thing. If they have lots of applications open and do that it will end up lagging/freezing. You can even see its running slow when he turns it because some of the taskbar does not load lol. Its also like a hoover :|

  • That's because it run on windows XP. If it used an OS like windows Vista or Seven witch use a desktop windows manager, all those refresh aren't needed.

It's not stupid, it's made like this. I use a tablet PC every day at college and it work so damn well that I can't buy a traditional laptop anymore ;-)

  • lol yea vista will make it even slower good old xp, i dont know about 7

  • Funny enough, vista perform better in the majority of "real world" benchmark that I've seen. Why? Every thing is closer to the user so it need less interaction to do something.

It also perform better in many other types of benchmark and is at least 1 000 time more stable than XP. I never manage to see Vista crash, even during the early beta. XP, on the other hand, crash on me several time, even in SP2 stage.

By the way, A BSOD is not a crash from Windows, it's a driver crash.

  • lolololol dude u cant be serious, vista will eat half of your ram, xp is much faster, i got toshiba qosmio x305-q701, 4gb ddr3 and i tried both, xp is much better, much better for gaming, vista can be more stable, xp was still good enough and we are talking about performance

  • I don't want to break you dream but, XP use a lot more RAM than Vista. Those who don't say as such obviously know's nothing about Windows memory management. You'd be astonished to know that there is NEVER more than 8 mb of free ram on your computer. The rest is wired, active and innactive ram with correspond to the os, running sofware and software previously run or that will potentialy be executed.

I will stop there because I don't want to spam youtube so if you want, we will continue by PMs.

  • well you are first guy in the world who say that xp consumes more ram then vista, try to play games with vistas and with xp, difference is big, also system is much faster with xp, vista is slow but u can do more with it thats all

  • I run Crysis at very high settings in 1080p on my old computer : 2gb ram, 8800gt and vista ultimate.

It's all about rumors. There is only 24% of Windows users who use Vista and we could safely say that 5% of it know what it is. Microsoft even proved it in a test that, just by changing the skin and calling it mojave, people said it was faster. Everybody that I know love Vista because they tested it personnally and was well inform by people like me who pass days just to know how this stuff work.

  • you must be from microsoft, otherwise i cant explain your opinion and its not rumors its my experience and my friends exp, if its so great why they do win 7 and not continue vista and ofc you run crisis with that setting on high i really believe you

  • First : I'm not from Microsoft; I even use a Mac :P

Second : Why did they made windows xp since windows 2000 was working great? Why is there a new version of OS X each 15 months? Why is there a new build of your favorite linux disto each week?! Because there has to have new features else that would not make any sense! Windows XP was the only version that for more than 3 years!

There is plenty of new features in 7 from a vista point of view as there is in vista from a xp point of view.

  • yes you can do more with new systems i dont argue, thats even what i said, what we are talking about is speed, and vista was not good, thats why they are running from it, xp>vista. Comp with 1gb ram with xp will turn on like 3 times faster then comp with 4 gb dd3 ram with vista

  • @KawazoeJapan WHOAAA NERDTALK!! LOL

  • Linux doesn't support touch screen yet.

  • says who?

    ofc it supports....

  • Nice product, but the cost its too much more like Asus Eee 1000 or Acer One here in my country.

  • COOL!

  • Looks great, maybe put a good OS on it though?

  • no dvd drive

  • Add Captioning!

  • this things cannot be good for kids.

its like drugs, computers should be +16, COMPUTER ADDICTION its a real problem for adults and for the kids in the future.

  • You think encouraging computer illiteracy is a good thing?

  • @foradordem

not necessarily, this computer is intended for educational purposes..

not to mention there are features of parental control included in the OS.

i think it´s up to the parents to control and moderate the use of it.

if so, it can be a very useful tool for kids to learn

  • i heard this thing weighs less than 3 pounds

  • Intel Classmate PC 1 - Magalhães 0

  • how much is it wen it comes out

    i want it reallllllllllllllllly bad

  • The feature that rejects the input of the hand's palm on the touchscreen is very handy

  • How much? $500? $600?

That tablet form factor has never worked for business nor education. Why insist on it with this?

I'd rather see a $100 Laptop using a basic ARM processor, sunlight readable OLPC-screen, WiFi Mesh and also Cellular internet. And then provide a separate pocket sized $200-max e-ink based E-book with a wacom touch-screen, low-power WiFi Mesh and cellular. Children can hardly read digital books on a laptop or such big tablet form factor.
