  • So true, very well put my friend..

  • 0:44 HEY! SHUT UP! Matt's talking...

  • "It's about the song, it's not about the drum part." THANK YOU.

  • so did lars submit this using the name "taylor smith" hehe

  • matt!..you f'n rock!...if your as good as fucking as you are drumming..youd be the greatest porn star to ever walk this earth!..your number one man!..you guys cant ever break up!

  • @ethan2787 Worst compliment ever. Douche bag

  • @NickWayne100 Actually, that's a very wise compliment. So many young drummers think that they can start playing all this fast stuff right off the bat, and with no reference of time. So, when they do try to "make it big" later on down the road they have no sense of time when a producer sticks a click track in their ear, and they have no stamina because they didn't actually spend time working these skills up from slow to fast. It's just smart practice.

  • Oh, my bad. I thought you were talking about the video. Nevermind. I agree.

  • Haha same, but I bought new cymbals for my drumkit. Theyre awesome.

  • why am I watching this I play guitar

  • @DistortedBrain dude. me too. this guy just blows my mind

  • @DistortedBrain So do I, but this guy is the man, I want to meet him out of everyone else in ABR.

  • @DistortedBrain me two what part you play lead or rythm

  • @ImmortalInHisEyes Neither. Just guitar, if I was in a band, I would say Lead

  • fabregas

  • @adyawira Hahahahahaha I thought the same!

  • Check out a band called Sunlight Community! Give them a chance! =) Thanks!

  • I've played with a band and a few shows, and tempo HAS to be there. Remember your counts as well. Tempo and counts are crucial, or else when you add in a click track, you will have some many sticky situations on stage. Haha. That's my two cents.

  • NO Matt you stay a metal drummer or you will downgrade to

    Travis Barker level!!!!

  • He is such an agreeable drummer. I hate metronomes, but add libbing and just jamming to the feel of a basic song, is one of the funnest things to do. Doesn't feel like practice at all, way too fun. Helps stir creativity for me a lot as well. :)

  • If that had been me talking and someone started talking and getting feedback on an amp I would've yelled 'SHUT THE FUCK UP!" lol

  • my 18 year old sister walked by, looked at my screen and said, why are you watching the situation on youtube, i though you didnt like jersey shore??..........she was serious....i cried a lil

  • Awesome, What kind of snare does he use I have been dieing to know, If no one knows what type of snare would you recommend to some one playing the same type of metal as him, thanks.

  • @xSugarDaddy420 truth custom 5.5x14in snare

  • His advice is so good, hip hop songs are shit, but playing to them literally is like a metronome because of the beat, it helps me a lot.

  • I bet he would kill Travis Barker in that Soulja boy remix...

  • @ImReallyRen No shit, Travis Barker is the most overrated drummer ever, in other words, a fucking disgrace to drummers who put time and effort in what they love to do! (Matt Greiner, Adam Gray, Jordan Mancino, Grant McFarland, and many more.) Fuck Travis Barker.

  • @iwillwait Yeah, i dont think he's good at all, just a bunch of people who dont even listen to metal, or tock for that instance, that think he's good...

  • cesc fabregas gives drum advice

  • he kinda looks like the situation from jersey shore

  • thats sweet, i deffs like playing to songs rather than a metronome

i think hes the first pro ive heard say that

  • its about the song, not about the drum part, he is a wise sensei!

  • Cesc Frabegras or Matt Greiner ? lol

  • matt greiner is my hero.... <3

  • you can tell that matt really works hard with his drumming. he should be an inspiration to all drummers worldwide

  • he's not matt, he's cesc fabregas

  • These advice videos never get old. Matt greiner is the best.

  • Your stupid dude. You obviously don't know drums. He is one of the best drummers out there. He can do that if he wants. He is one of the only ones who can pull that off and play it exactly like the cd every show!

  • what a fuckin hippocrite i cant think of one august burns red song where the drums dont completely overpower the rest of the band. he does crazy fills all the time. not that theres anythin wrong with that tho, he just shouldint say is not about being showey when hes one of the most showey metalcore drummers today

  • @KYamada416 he doesnt try to be, hes just that goddamn good man, trust me.

  • @KYamada416 He means showy as in stick tricks and random stupid showing off crap. If you haven't noticed, all metalcore is pretty drum heavy/oriented.

  • @KYamada416: That's not called showy. That's called creative talent.

  • @KYamada416 This kid knows nothing about drums apparently..

  • @KYamada416 woooooooooooooooooooooooow. so ignorant. if you dont like abr or matt then why are you watching this? his drumming embodies their genre of music. i listen to metal as a drummer because i dont want to hear some boring ass "neon trees" drumming where its the same beat the whole 3 minutes. i want fills up the ass, crazy rhythms, crazy tempo changes, and doing that doesn't mean showing off. Yea there are metal bands where the drummer is a little overpowering but abr is not that band

  • @KYamada416 Someone is a non-drummer......Yes, he has lots of fills but they don't take away from the music. He is the perfect drummer for the music that ABR plays.

  • @KYamada416 Showy as in Stick Flips and tricks.. Like a showy drummer would be Adam Grey of Texas in July, but there fills compliment the riffs dude, he's just a technical drummer all his fills go hand in hand with the song

  • wise, wise words.

  • lol i cant believe he does the same thing i do. I dont use a metronome, i use songs. Only one thing, i practice my drumming while i listen to THEIR songs =)

  • What i don't understand about drumming being a drummer myself, is how all these drummers in bands get so good.

i've been playing for a while and i would say i'm alright, but no where near as good as drummers in bands. its as if they were born to play drums D:

  • @Thecityheights ive been playing for three years now and i play every DAY for at least an hour thats key practice practice practice. I come from a family of guitarists and im the only drummer so i get to jam out too , but drumming came A LOT more natural to me then lets say guitar or bass or keys. Drums take practice but you kinda need the rhythm and timing to be a really good one.

  • @Thecityheights They get so good because they play every single day. ;) And they practice too.

  • i think his ADVICE is for Taylor Smith. . the fat guy on drums who played for 3 years. . Matt gave an inspirational msg for him . COOL

  • @bhadong7 I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not...but this was recorded for one of my high school students, not "Taylor Smith."

  • @fiveclothing but it says what up Taylor Smith at the start

  • @RockMetalAndStuff it says what up Taylor "Schmidt", one of my students.

  • @fiveclothing u are the best teacher EVEEEEEEEER! ! !

  • @fiveclothing definitely Taylor Schmidt

  • @fiveclothing YOUR student? august burns red?

You must be an awesome teacher.

  • @bhadong7 I know it has been a year, but I'd like to know who that fat guy is, I found nothing on google for "taylor fat drummer"

  • @oscarmvl I think he might actually be referencing this guy, ha not some Taylor. Here is your inspirational message. /watch?v=v4IVN1Gx5gk&feature=channel_video_title

  • I REALLY want to see him play those hip hop records! i bet it is the coolest thing ever!

  • @rjthegolfer93 It's pretty cool. He's a very well rounded drummer because of this. Work on EVERYTHING. Play as many different genre's as you can. Study them. It's what will make you greg, and not just good..

  • @rjthegolfer93 Dude, I actually have a short less than 2 min video of him drumming to... I think it's to Eminem. I've actually got it up in my facebook videos and i lost the file for it, so i'll have to try to steal it from myself somehow and then post it up here.

  • @rjthegolfer93 yea he would wipe the asses of cobus and some other hippies

  • @rjthegolfer93 i beat when he plays those hop hop beats theyre tripper than skrillex! :D

  • And Talent Is Spilled Out To Our Computer Screens... :D

  • BAZAN Shirt!! Sweet!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!
