  • This is a great interview - I remember seeing the original broadcast 25 years ago. Too bad there's no Part II - Moon and Dweezil come on after the commercial, and Moon kids her dad by claiming that he "forces us to listen to classical music all day!" Zappa has this great smile as he watches his kids take the piss out of him - he obviously loves seeing them being so funny and having minds of their own. The apples didn't fall far from that tree!

  • @OrchestrationOnline The second part is there, the name of the video is - The Sweetest Rock and Roll Family; The Zappa's, 1986.

  • Zappa is of Syrian decent, not Italian.

  • @catalinaumbert AAAAHHHNK! Wrong! Zappa was Sicilian Greek in descent. Read his autobiography, or do some of the most basic checking up on the net. He has a whole chapter of his book kidding about how his, ahem, Sicilian father wanted to write a history of the world centered around Sicily. So Zappa tries to do it for him, with hilarious and very cynical results.

  • @catalinaumbert Also, on his mother's side he was part French.

  • 3:27: The Middle East is NOT about religion !

  • Awesome!

  • FRANK IS SOOO RIGHT, LISTEN TO DUMB ALL OVER OFF "YOU ARE WHAT YOU IS" ALBUM RELEASED 1981.

  • Bigger than the concord schnozzers

  • Zappa is right about that. Religion is the most evil thing out there. If we can get rid of all religions we would be a happier planet.

  • ive heard cowboy ballads from the 1800's that would make vince neil blush

  • looks like borat

  • I bought the album "Dirt" by Alice in Chains when I was about 15, and my mother wanted to take it away from me because she thought it was evil and harmful. The songs were about death, anguish, substance abuse, and sorrow - which spoke to me on a very personal level as your typical disillusioned adolescent. But, the album kicks ass! I was inspired by their music and it actually convinced me NOT to commit suicide, which I had considered prior. I am now 29, in a working band, and life is good.

  • @JazzyJonas i love that album! It was on endless repeat my tenth grade year.

  • This aired on September 23rd, 1986- the day before I was born! Amazing.

  • @SIMPFANN Wow, a fellow Zappa fan born on september 24? Cool.

  • Im sure Bush had him killed as he knew too much, too much power and made a fool out of the family.

  • @zappatx

  • fuck aspartame, just get fat with real sugar!

  • Then it was nutra-sweet and today it's splenda and high fructose corn syrup. Splenda or sucralose is just as or more poisonous. They claim it's made from sugar but the sugar molecule was chlorinated to render it calorie free. The same process was used to make DDT!

Even though HFCS has the same calories as sugar it has other properties that has been directly linked to obesity and diabetes. Unfortunately it's in so much crap it's hard to get away from it. Read a food label and see!

  • @garminpink :yeh man, high fructose corn syrup is bad news i reckon

  • @garminpink The same process was used to make DDT? No it wasn't.

  • @garminpink Where has it been scientifically shown to be dangerous other than in EXTREMELY high doses with rats? I think you're full of shit, let me know if I'm wrong.

  • @garminpink Its STILL Nutra-Sweet (aka aspartame). Its in just about every popular brand of bubble gum. Juicy Fruit, Big Red , Orbitz, Freedent, Dentyne, Trident, Bubble Yum. They all have it. 10 percent of Nutra-Sweet is Ethyl alcohol. When it gets in your body it converts to Formaldehyde and that can give you neurological problems; its poisonous. Frank sounds as if he's just joking around but you wonder if he knew because what he's saying here is very close to truth.

  • @ReeseMac My memory has gone to hell since drinking Diet soda and using Nutrasweet exclusively. Never really thought about it but we've been trying to figure out why for a while now.

  • @cranie4 try products with stevia

  • @daddysevenpointfiver I've cut out Aspertame completely for 5 days now and it does seem to be getting better. Amazing how many products that shit is in.

  • we need him today

  • uhoh look what this mister Frank Zappa said about our product, we deffenetly can't let this guy get mainstream...haha

He should kinda refrase that(but no)to Government for the cause of more wars. Hare Krishnas a religion, the Vatican and what not...just another form of government. I don't claim myself to any religion but ppl just get the wrong idea sometimes...

  • Hey MisterEsoteric,

Frank is of Arab & Sicilian heritage. You should correct your posted info, and read THE REAL FRANK ZAPPA BOOK.

    Thanks for the video.

  • i love this interview

  • I don't know about the whole nutra-sweet thing, but aside from that, everything Zappa says here is EXACTLY right, and exactly how I feel.

I also notice that this was back when they didn't play music over a guest's entrance so that the guest could actually HEAR the applause they received. I miss that.

  • SIMPFANN,

If you "don't know about the whole nutra-sweet thing," you should watch SWEET MISERY. Nutrasweet is aspartame, which chemically is not substantially different than drinking anti-freeze or wood alcohol. It eats holes in the brain, and as usual Frank's instincts were right on the money.

  • Oh you could go on with the toxins the gov.(ultimately)feeds us. From pills to tap water. They stopped putting "sodium fluoride" in the h20 supply, maybe because of ppl catching on over the years. But now they have something different they're putting in(hmm obviously theres something to this conspiracy)Its called "Hexafluorosilicic acid". Don't know so much about that 1 but sodium fluoride for a fact I know is am Endocrine System disruptor so is birth control...

  • Well, the reason I say I don't know about it is because, and maybe it's just because I'm autistic and/or don't get out much, but before looking it up I didn't really know what nutrasweet is, let alone its effects on the brain.

  • a great man.

  • Yes, thats what TV needs; more sane, reasonable people saying things that resemble reality.

  • Frank~telling it like it is

  • Nutra-sweet.. LOL

love you Frank, and always will
