Evony is very different than its adds and is a pretty fun game for sure kinda hard to get into but when u find good friends and alliance it becomes really fun :D looks like u guys didn't try it so why knock it? but building times take forever when ur staring out so i can see why not to many ppl stick around but adds are weird 4 sure lol
The advertising for Evony is actually quite genius. Misleading yes, but genius. The game itself is not very interesting (a typical run-of-the-mill RTS). So how do you get people to play your game? You advertise with something that everyone likes......yes it's deceptive, but It's clear they're getting the attention that they want......and they're probably getting some money off of it too. History shows us again and again an advertising truth - sex sells.

I went to a site that had like.. games intended for kids to play, and that ad shows up. Sheesh! They shouldn't even be advertising there, either. Freggin' annoying, really, they should remove them in the near future.
@PHT07UK I think it has to do with who hosts the ads. The Evony ads probably take up the same slots as those nail fungus ads. I know that AdHitz runs ads for Evony because I tried putting their advertising HTML on my blog once and one of these ads showed up. Thankfully, I don't think Adsense does, though, which is what I use now.

But I mean Shaiya doesn't make those claims, directly or indirectly, and the goddesses actually play a larger role in that game's story line then, say, the princess in Evony that is just a marketing ploy. I never heard of Citizen, but it almost looks like an online Civ clone, much like Ikariam is. What bothers me though, is that they offer adult content in their ads, but not in the game. On the other hand, I heard Shaiya has some actual adult content, and requires that you actually be 18 or older to play. I never got far enough in that game to find out for myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. At least the goddesses are in that game, though, which is more than Evony can say...
I now I meant Civ4 but I spelled it wrong. Another thing that bugs me is not only the ad's but the fact that they spam pages. They spammed my blog like 8 times! The ad's where just awful have you seen the one with the girl wearing no top?
I don't think I have. I realize that some ads for it appear more often than others, though. The last one I showed in this video took me a while to get a screenshot of. But yeah, it's starting to look less like ads for an RTS type game and more like ads for a dating site like Trūe...
I'd try it out myself, but I've got too much to do with Ikariam already, anyway, so yeah, I don't have any time to even check it out. I looked at some vids though and yeah, every vid I saw, no adult content. Not even a single nipple... I think if they want to advertise that, they should at least provide their players with it.
