Man, after training with Cobra for three years here in D.C., I can really see how loose he is. I'm sure Marcelo is a great capoeirista, and he knows how to play capoeira for sure, but you can tell as far as body movents are concerned, Cobra makes him look out of his element. Cobra always stresses playing "fechado"(closed), playing small, playing your body tight. It just seems marcelo wants to break out of this 'small' and 'tight' game and just go full regional.
i dont agree with the "out of the element" comment. M Marcelo was getting his 3rd degree mestre belt, and had to play not only different mestres but adapt to the different styles (like true capoeira). true his not an angoleiro but he is not regional. he learned angola from m. gato preto and thats how he learned to play angola. angola is different from mestre to mestre. if you want to see m. marcelo playing "small" and "tight" try: Mestre Marcelo Caveirinha and Mestre Espirro Mirim 6.
Yep. He's contemporanea. Most players fall under the contemporanea category nowadays. Regional is only regional if it follows Bimba's principles very closely. Marcelo is from Cordao de Ouro, which is definitely a contemporanea school.
pure true and amazing handz down art self defense and self expression all in one

This game is just so good I feel the need to comment on it even though I probably already did and have seen it dozens of times by now.

man that's crazy. Mestre Cobra Mansa did a relogio 540 degrees. If anyone knows how to do that, can you message me how? even if its a small one.

you must practice a lot. try to do it just moving your body in the queda de rins with the other hand...
but you must try it lots of times before you know what are you doing wrong..
