  • @Evid3nc3 If you are still looking for meaning in prayer outside theism, I suggest you view the video "The Science of Miracles" here on youtube.

  • Find strength in holding yourself in-between paradoxes.

  • Where in the hell is Jesus going?...I loled. Awesome work.

  • what time was Jesus flying thought space?

  • Jesus is a alien

  • @Evid3nc3 Could you make a Jpeg of the pictures of jesus in space? xD

  • Amazing journey man. Thanks for sharing it, and not only that, but making something new, educational, and compelling in the process.

  • If I may, my 2 cents about prayer as a... I guess atheistic Buddhist... is that prayer should still work even if there is no one to hear it. It should still have a positive impact on your own attitude towards the people you're praying for. Pray for someone means trying to put yourself in their place and hopefully approach them more lovingly afterwards...

Your series is amazing, by the way, I'm definitely going to rewatch it again when I'm done.

  • @MortlachNL I agree; the power of prayer isn't in the direction of the prayer (to whom or what), it's the very act of expressing a will that potentially manifests in a force for change.

  • A bald man somewhat resembling the tip of a penis is always on my right column.

  • "In worshipping this image of God, we worshiped ourselves." such a beautiful phrase.

  • Towards the end it begins to sound very Buddhist-like. Where prayer becomes awareness and self-reflection. Just how Prince Siddharta Gautama awakened from Hinduism.

I agree and like the idea. Great job with all your videos.

  • I view prayer as a form of reflection, you ask for what you want, gives thanks for what you love, remind yourself of goals and appreciate what you have. I feel like a lot of the positive emotions people get from prayer are just the same as anyone who has experienced that feeling of clarity you get from having a good think about your own life. Just my take on it anyway.

  • imogen heap dude your great

  • "Where did jesus go when he ascended to heaven?" The mormons have the answer!

He went to the planet Paradisus, around the star Kolob!

  • "were in the hell is Jesus going when he goes up?"

an honest question i haven't though of before, and a question that makes me laugh till my sides hurt

  • This video: under 50.000 views.

Videos about hate towards humanity: millions of views.

And people still claim to be a god watching out for us...

  • (1)PAUSE THIS VIDEO @ 08:30. Those characteristics are what I look forward to, and have for many year, life to become in time. Every bit of this Universe, like you, is a portion of the whole. Try to imagine that YOU ARE THE EARTH, that YOU ARE THE UNIVERSE, with all 6 of these characteristics espoused to YOU. It may take life 10 billion, 100 billion or even a trillion or more years to achieve this status, but we have been on that road for 4 billion years.

  • (2)Looking back at mankind's present database of knowledge related to the activity of those years and the rate of acceleration at which we are making advancements and given the time it has taken for the Earth, and the Universe, to create all this life from non-life it may not be long before we have converted all the mass, energy and even the volume of space they occupy of the non-living Universe into the most massive organization of organisms that you can possibly imagine.

  • (3)By that time we will certainly be able to share this feeling of conscience with one another. In Star Trek this would be similar to the Borg, but so much more than the concept their creators have been given time to explain through any form of media. Do not, however let the fact that this concept has been hinted on previous by anyone at anytime in history, be it spiritually, technologically, biologically or cosmologically, etc..

  • (4)It is a concept, a practice, that HAS BEEN occurring since life began. It will continue forever. We will most certainly find other origins of life that are on this path as well and merge with them. The process of growth and utilization of the four fundamental aspects of the Universe we know to exist at this moment (time, space, energy and matter).

  • (5)Even the four fundamental forces of nature (strong and weak nuclear, gravity and electromagnetic) that we experience are on our scale of perception are also directly tied into this process. Life is the greatest counter to Entropy and Heat Death as well. We, life forms, are multiplying, spreading out in search of more resources and using them to increase our mass and energy over time.

  • (6)Our short life spans are supplemented by our reproductive process, just as the chemistry we are based on is capable of recreating it's reactants by a multiple series of circular chemical reactions. Each pass through the circle the very process is acquiring more mass as it works it's way deeper and deeper towards the Earth's core, thanks to gravity. Everything that has been and ever will be will be a part of this process.

  • (7)I cannot, in a night or a life's time explain this in the scope of detail I have spent years imagining it when my mind has been free of obligations. I have found nothing that contradicts this process in all my life's study of the sciences. In my interactions with other humans, my main goal is to bring this process out of my mind's pocket and put it into the light where I can get the opinions, relevant information, concerns and support for this idea.

  • (8)The process is, after all, more important than any one of the, potentially, decillions or more of individual life forms that has existed throughout the history of the Universe. Finding ways through which to accelerate the rate at which life is converting the non-living universe into the Living Universe, LIFE, is the most enjoyable aspect of my existence.

  • (9)Throughout childhood I even imagined that by this age I would have at least 10 children, something I imagine most children from larger than nuclear families look forward to before their head is filled with the idea that we could ever run out of any sort of resource. (see Entropy and Heat Death for the scariest of these scenarios)

  • Spong is a Satanist. Discuss.

  • Ascension into heaven myth was based upon cases of extraterrestrials literally taking ppl with them in the remote antiquity. When humanity matured enough the practice had to be modified accordingly but oral tradition carried on with severe distortions and the loss of meaning over the millennia.

  • i have heard buddhist atheist say the same about Buddha what you said about jesus. that even if buddha did not peforme miracles and was not the pinacle of human exitance, he was still someone who was wise and kind. well of course he is. jesus much like god was imagined to be everything that the wrighters found to be good in them selfs. i personaly find jesus revolting. he seemes to be like the modern cult leaders. any anyone who belives that you deserve to be punished forever is an monster.

  • I laughed out loud when you started talking about Jesus travelling through space.

  • @AlexPiti5 The only thing that could have made it better is if he played "Rocket Man" in the background..lol.

  • @Mogley52

Ever seen a turtle before? They can swim and walk on land. Similar creatures like this may have existed that could live in the ocean but preferred to lag their eggs on land because there were less predators. There is one 'survival benefit' off the top of my head.

Saying their are no transitional forms fossilized implies that everything that has died has became a fossil. It takes certain circumstances for a creatures remains to become fossilized. Living? Have a look at viruses.

  • @Mogley52 Myopia, presbyopia, gluacoma, cataracts, retinal disorders... that's for starters.

  • @Mogley52 Ah so that explains why I was born with Nearsightedness and Astigmatism. Or maybe it was just a product of original sin.

  • The Bible writers did not believe in a flat earth:

Isaiah knew the earth was round, Job knew it was hung on nothing, and Jesus even said alluded to his coming being both in the day and in the night.

Furthermore, the writers don't express a heaven/earth/hell trio. They express a heaven and earth duo. Heaven is mostly used for the sky, but metaphorically used for where God dwells. The same happened to the word for hell. It means grave and became a metaphor for death. Please read your Bible.

  • @obits3 Matthew 4:8 a very big mountain allows us to see all earth --> flat earth.

Of course that could be only metaphorical, but given the evidence available one must assume that the basic knowledge of the nature of the earth by the writters of the bible is bassically flawed, I don't think this was their main focus of course, for the knowledge is the fruit of the forbidden tree.

  • @cichriz The text does not say that they literally looked at the whole earth. It says that Jesus was shown the kingdoms of the earth. In the context of Biblical writing, this event would seem to be more on the level of a prophetic vision than actually surveying the surrounding area.

  • @obits3 I see what you mean and I think I pointed that out in my comment, but you should be careful with the "context" of biblical writing, some parts are meant to be believed completely litterally. the basic problem with this is a matter of interpretation, if the day night cicle and the roundness of the earth were stated clearly by one individual instead of three in semipoethic ways this flat earth bible discussion wouldn't have started in the first place.

  • You say that the pre exile people's believed that God was in the city and had to get bigger post exile, BUT several text pre exile testify to God not dwelling in a place made with human hands. The expanding of God from a city God to a world God is another straw man. It was always understood that God was bigger than the temple.

  • @5:50 the fingr was given.lol

  • So my question is... if paul made up all those stories, why would he die for not denying Christ? It seems odd that someone would die for a belief that they knew was false. And not only was he killed for it, but exiled from many cities as well.

So if i understand correctly, it would be like you making up a story, writing a book about it, claiming it to be fact, then being willing to die over your lie. Seems odd to me.

  • @bluefootedpig Is it possible that Paul felt that the idea and principles of Christ and his teachings were worth dying for?

  • @Bruciuschapmius guess it could be possible. But tell me, if you had principles worth dying for, and all you had to say is "my imaginary friend never existed", and continue on your way spreading the teachings. So yes, it is possible, but I find it unlikely for someone to die for an imaginary person when all you had to do was deny christ and you would live. Also, lets not forget that paul was a roman citizen, which we gave up to follow this path.

  • Well done analysis of Spong's book. I've read others of his and find his viewpoint refreshing and quite interesting. I think I am very much like him in my views. Very good video.

  • "If you can make god bleed, people will cease to believe in him." Atheists, free-thinkers, and non-believers are doing that, we are slowly bleeding god to death with the evidence and the believers are trying to mend the wounds with their ignorant arguements. They cannot win unless God shows himself in a physical form.

  • Who would win in a fight: Astro Jesus or Aqua Buddha?

  • 6:00 Now if only you had included E=m*(c^2) in the second last position, you'd almost literraly have given the "F.I.N.G.E.R" to God :-D . But I suppose FINGR is nice too ;-) .

  • God this series is fucking amazing, It never gets old.

Ive probably watches this series 6 times, all the way through, every time.

    I can't wait for atheism 3.3.5

  • @MewCat100 You should just give up. CartesianTheist fancies himself a philosopher but he is really just an apologist attempting to dress up the same old Christian dogma in some pseudo-intellectual garb. He's a complete coward who, when the going gets tough, resorts to name calling and personal insults to avoid admitting that his argument has been crushed. He sprinkles his with enough large words and references to authority them look legit, even though they are devoid of any real logic or meaning

  • I LISTENED TO THIS SONG FIVE MINUTES BEFORE WATCHING THIS VIDEO. THERE IS A GOD! That's proof, right?

  • there is a . after "...merely everything"

  • i'm also an atheist but before i was an atheist i was jewish and the concept of god in jewdaism is completely different, for example god is not everything we are not, he is merely everything he has all qualities - he is both smart and stupid and yet he is niether and so on.....

  • Spong is where I got my real start in realizing how much Kool-aid I had drunk. I have 3 or 4 of his books, I think.

  • Canvas!! <3

  • Huh...Spong's Christ sounds an awful lot like Spong...

  • Most awesome series ever. ever.

  • Thank you for these videos, watching them inspires me to live productively, and constructively. Thank you for your influence.

  • The Prophet Isaiah mentions a spherical Earth; James beat Ingersoll to the "faith without works is dead" viewpoint; and when Elijah helped open Elisha's eyes, it was clear that divine reality existed on a different plane rather than a really high spot in the sky. Have you not encountered any of this previously?

If this is a repost, blame YouTube.

  • @KnightOneDark The line says nothing about a ball; the word xug means gird or ring; he who sits on the horizòn is the planèt/god Merquri as allusion to Gabri-el.

The Earth is flat in holy books even until the time of -islààm. There were first two heavens, then three, then seven; then there were seven earths. Heaven was a sea where their bodies swam; the sky was a dome which held up the stars, clouds, and rain; earth was a mound which restd upon a lake upon a sea, and there was no America.

  • @alysdexia Disregarding your second paragraph as offered no evidence (Scientists should know better), I now look at your first paragraph about that (in)famous verse in Isaiah. You say it's describing Gabriel sitting on the horizon. Another guy on the internet said, "...this verse describes a spherical earth. The Hebrew word is hwg. I believe that this refers to the circular horizon that vaults itself over the earth to form a dome." Whom shall I believe? No agenda in either case, I'm sure.

  • @KnightOneDark *you offered

  • @KnightOneDark You mean I must put all proof in the same comment rather than you do any work? -jim is the Shemij dual ending: shàmàjim (two heavens) from màjim (two watters). A list of heavenly trips is at "The Seven Heavens in Jewish and Christian Apocalypses", google.com/books?id=GwBKktoqi-8C&pg=PA59.

Google "ancient cosmology" for maps of the flat Earth and sky (gates in which->rain), the latter first of stone, then tin or silver, and later gemstones topaz and sapfir (see J·xezeq-el).

  • @alysdexia All I've gotten so far is that you and another person disagree about the meaning of the verse, but that I'm supposed to believe your interpretation because of some maps and research concerning multiple heavens. Not seeing the relevance of maps to that particular verse. Oh, to answer a question of yours: no, you don't have to provide research, but you also can't assume I'm going to believe anything you say; I view you as a human, not a truth dispenser.

  • fuck the background music on this one.

  • dude, this is one of the most thorough and well informed series I've ever had the pleasure of watching. and this includes all the great footnotes/references.

    thank you.

  • No preacher will admit that he doesn't believe, as long as the check$ keep coming in.

  • Just finished Spongs 'The Sins of Scripture' and I found Spong a very odd type of Christian. You clarified him for me. Thanks.

BTW TSoS was another good read.

I like this author Christian or NOT, but especially his NOT.

  • Excellent presentation. Fascinating material and research, but in the end it went to no new place of knowledge for me. I was looking for a possible "logical" explanation for the "supernatural" nature of the date sequencing of the Genesis genealogy; from the creation of Adam to the death of Joseph. By reason and analysis, I traversed a similar road over 70 years but ended up on my original path back to God after understanding the message in the 2,309 year Genesis genealogy.

  • @cherokeenation "understanding the message in the 2,309 year Genesis genealogy."

    Please elaborate, if you can.

  • You should write all of this in a book, let me know..instant purchase!
