  • I Have no use for the Truth!!!!!!

  • I don't think that any human being can really understand how great Tom Waits is

  • at 01:30 that "aah"... that is way too much. goosebumps!

  • fuckin funky funk music..!! great Tom Waits..!

  • Anyone know the Bass player? Seen him on another Waits video.

  • @amacallan9 It is Larry Taylor, Tom's long time touring bass player. He used to play with a band...Canned Heat.

  • The thing I like about T.W YT vids - besides T.W of course, - is that his videos, hands down, have the best comments and the least amount of assholes/trolls. Talent attracts talent, I guess. ;D Thanks to all the awesome posters - you guys rock, and make these vids a even greater pleasure.

  • Die for me! Too good! A concert and all is good!

  • Can anybody tell me which guitar Tom is playing? Thanks!

  • @TheASCHAJ

    He's playing a Harmony Stratotone.

  • music of this kind makes me want to start drinkin again XD

  • stunning. and i thought i'd seen all his youtube videos.

  • Tom shops at the local grocery store I work at... His voice is rough when he talks too. And he likes dried fruit....

  • @BluEyedPit707 Probably the most random yet epic comment.

  • that fat guy on the guitar is the coolest. you can totally tell he's some girls dad or something

  • i love all the people saying "that cant be good for his voice" or "whats the point of the growling", clearly they dont realize that its the result of 2 packs of cigarettes and half a bottle of whiskey a day for decades. his voice aged to perfection. hes not growling, hes just being tom waits.

  • Tom waits in a way he looks like James Hetfield from Metallica lol the older version

  • @wanatee You mean James Hetfield looks like Tom Waits.

  • @aleceiffel

well, I suppose he will. But I certainly won`t.

  • What kind of guitar is Tom playing?

  • @AMxTAC It's a Harmony Stratotone H44

  • @LeninsVictory Thanks!!

  • I saw him on this tour at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Mind-bogglingly grand. Tom's the best.

  • tom waits has the best "death metal" voice of all time. he is a living link to the past, showing what folks like willy brown had in their throat

  • Tom Waits and alcohol together is better than sex..

  • This is too good for the world.

  • wtf is wrong with this man?... is it Downs?, tourettes?, ADHD?, OCD?..havent seen such hideous quirky, jerky, movements since viewing clips on epileptic seizures. Would love to know, ty

  • @leonakita it's called passion

  • Singing the truth.

  • Tom Waits has a very clever writing style he puts clamps on his testicles and they slowly tighten. Once it gets very tight great music is produced!

  • This guy is a complete fraud. Look at his guitar? Since when does he play guitar. i don't think it is plugged into anything.

  • @paulgad Probably since 1960.

  • @paulgad What kind of witless fool art THOU ? Its a TV performance, and the Maestro is probably just having a little bit of sport. Tom Waits is a wonderful guitarist.

  • @GonzoRecovery Ah, HA! Now, i know. I was never a big fan, but I have friends and family that love him. I like seeing him live, but I can not stand listening on I-pod, etc. I think sometimes people with a lot of money, like to prop up a homeless addict, and give him large sums of money. Like artwork. People who like paintings are not happy unless you pay millions for it. I have a friend with a gallery and if the painting doesnt sell, he doubles the price, and out it's gone.

  • @paulgad Not sure what you're getting at, but let me tell you; an old buddy of mine, ageing hippy, turned me on to Tom back in 1980. I was 18, didn't think much to him, I was into punk, ska, new wave etc.Later, older, bit wiser, I realised Tom was a poet, a visionary, revolutionary, an everyman genius who sucked in musical styles, twisted 'em & sent 'em back out into the world fresh and unique. Listen to the early stuff. Have a drink or 2 first. Smoke a doobie, if thats your thing. You'll see...

  • @paulgad this must be the first live performance you've ever seen considering you've never seen a guitar wirelessly synced to an amp

  • this is a wind up, surely

  • Genius. You never know which way he's gonna lead us...

  • @criodain77 listen to some of his other songs like "come on up to the house" and "warm beer, cold women." His voice just takes some getting used to.

  • a hobo would sing better, I just don't get him.....

  • I HAVE NO USE FOR THE THE TRUTH!

  • Awesome! I used to have the model Tom's playing (a Harmony Stratotone). Is that Duke Robillard playing lead guitar?

  • @Tajavideo yes, Larry Taylor on Bass and his son Casey on drums

  • Big guy on the big guitar kills it.

  • What a voice! Like from the bottom of a tomb, but it's cool!

  • i loling at how he plays that small guitar XD

  • the man's a genius

  • This is too good for television.

  • Tom is the shit; I think that's his kid on the kit. scoobelleeee-wow-wow-wooowwwww!

  • just a killer tune!!!

  • Wha... Wh..what is it saying ?

  • @WhaleTHESnail you got to lie to meh... BABEH

  • Brilliant!

  • Is that Duke Robillard ? - Love those double stops at 2:44

  • @swamplifecontrol damn straight it The Duke...He makes this tune swing!!!

  • That's one cool cat!

  • 0:51 priceless

  • Like modern metal, it's good music, it's bluesy, but don't like the growly vocal, there is no point to it!!!!!!!

  • @jstoelb What are talking about?! The vocal is what makes Tom Waits the unique musician he is! I you don't like the singing-style, then stick to the metal-crap of yours.

  • @jstoelb get a clue brother

  • That can't be good for the vocal chords.

  • Tom Waits is both God and Satan simultaneously.

  • @zombeh42 the best part of your comment is that he actually IS both; in one movie he was god, while in another he played the devil.

  • Guitar solo by Duke Robillard...???

  • @songster50 if it ain't duke, the guy did his homework.

  • The lighting at :53, wicked!

  • he's a true artist

  • Fuck, that epiphone is old as time!

  • Awesome stuff. Satisfaction at 2:44

  • Is that his son on the drums?

  • sounds like he's trying to sing whilst getting raped....im not complaining, dont get me wrong lol

  • @CHUNDERTHUNDER99 bad try on being funny, fuck off if you don't like him

  • @QuiteHotBros suck my dick, i didnt say i didnt like him did i!

  • @CHUNDERTHUNDER99 ok, well your still not funny at all :(

  • Fantastic!

  • surgical

  • I hope Tom will come to Portland OR soon. He is pure reality.

  • I dig it. Sweet H44.

  • genius...... pure.... genius

  • Tom Waits really is a great guitarist. He should do a solo guitar album a la Neil Young's Le Noise.

  • kinda like that lousy sounding halloween music we have to put up with every year. i know this guy is acclaimed, but why??

  • @shesgonesailing I'm also not exactly sure why I love this guy's music. Personally, I believe it's the fact that he is such a chameleon with his music. This song is very much like the older style of rock and roll, but if you check out other songs by him you could get ballads (Tom's Traubert's Blues), Beatnik jazz (Step Right Up), and even alternative rock (I Don't Wanna Grow Up). Plus he is very recognizable. When you hear a Tom Waits song, you know it's a Tom Waits song.

  • @Dreadmonkey1 I know what you mean. And I realize I am a minority of 1. But honestly I am trying. So strange as I have such a broad range of tastes. Or I should more aptly say I enjoy so many different sounds. I am just as perplexed as probably all that read my post. I shall endevour to be a good student and study the auditory vibrations this man constucts that so many obviously enjoy!

  • @shesgonesailing Tom is one of those things that just clicks. I was thoroughly confused by why everyone adored him, but after two listens of Rain Dogs I was in love. Check out Swordfishtrombones or Rain Dogs as a starting point and give them a couple of listens.

  • Genius.

  • tom waits should live forever , amen.

  • @fishandchipsandpeas1 - You mean he won't?

  • Fuck, that's great! Good morning, man!

  • bass and guitar his all-star band, and his son on drums...friggin awesome line-up!

  • God I need to see him live...

  • Tom's guitar style always amazes me. He holds it like someone who never has played guitar before, but he makes it sound so f-n awesome!

  • What guitar is that?

  • One beast !!!

  • Tom is a special kind of god.

  • mmm... my mistake.. he INVENTED that type of singing!

  • Tom is kinda clever of a man! ... he chose a type of singing that shall never get old!

and ofcourse .. his genius is immortal!

  • I believe thats his son drumming

  • @spetow yeah his son drums for the whole orphans cd, i think he even did the drums for real gone

  • Id say David Letterman likes Tom considering Tom has been on his show a shit load of times over the years.

  • Tom Waits is priceless. One true talent.

  • It still strikes me weird when i see him holding a guitar. love it though.

  • freaking Talent....Love this guy 10/10
