  • This song is so FUNKY! Love it! This is when you needed to know how to play an instrament to have a hit R & B song. The horns are great too!

  • I was on another planet having the time of my life. Were there other people there? :-)

  • What a bad song!

  • Deadly performance!! There is none funkier. That's how a drum set wants to be spanked by the way. AWESOME UPLOAD THANKS

  • God damn this shit is funky

  • I'm guessing from comments that Kool is that scared little kid on bass LMAO I would never have picked it. I thought he would be the guy up front. Kool cracks me up - he looks like he wants to run away hahahaha What a fantastic live performance. Love this track.

  • In case some of you didn't know, Bobby Womack is seen playing the congas on stage with with the band. You can check it at the 0:40 mark. :-)

  • At 1:12 - I'm probably the only one who sees this. But in this video Kool and the Gang remind me of "Fat albert and the Cosby kids"- minus Fat Albert of course.

  • Thems looks like some proper black mens, almost uncle tom like.

  • What are they playing so fast for? And what's with the white-clad cult up in front? Weird. A great song, though, and rockybull22 was definitely there.

  • @evlgenius09 Because it's a fast jam fool. ;) THis would be nowhere near as epic if you slowed it down. The point is for it to be fast, furious and funky. WHY would you want it played slower?

  • Get down get down and shit...

  • funky as fuck

  • Nice shit HOMIES!

  • Great seeing this on here. I love the early period of this band as opposd to the more popular disco period with JT Taylor.

  • I want to play with the Gang for about 77 years "then "do a solo project.

  • This is so hilarious and classic. Jungle Boogie is a song that WILL ALWAYS BE JAMMING> Kool looks like he is 8 years old, lost and scared to death. But he can play that damn bass. They are all great musicians as you had to be in the 70s... There was no faking back then real musicians playing real instruments real well....! Thank God I grew up in the 70s so grateful. Yellow Sweater lady you are the bomb !!

  • omg! ck Kool out!

  • More cowbell!

  • I love how they can just SIT and listen to K&TG.

  • I can see why Madonna would sample this tune for her 1992 tune "Erotica". It's so funky!

  • this is still a JAM!

  • Yep I"ve never lost that capacity to have a good time. I still love to dance (only better now) Have a good time and dance enjoy life there's enough shit thrown at you to be miserable later.

  • Does anybody know what happened tp Spike Mickens on trumpet ?? He just disappeared !!!1

  • @tubagee Spike died in a nursing home over a year ago.

  • My dad was the distributor for this band. Kool was sooo shy he had a itty bitty voice

  • @rockybull22 That is just too cool...I bet the other kids were jealous...

  • @rockybull22 my dads friend was their manager haha

  • See the girl in the yellow cardigan dancin and clappin like tomorrow will never come? That's me at 15. I was a damn dance major too. I'm very sorry for those who will never be able to close their eyes again.

  • @rockybull22 OMG...Well your dancing wasn't that bad...I mean it wasn't like Elaine's dancing on Seinfeld...lol.

Glad you stopped on by....Stay gold.

  • @rockybull22 Cool! Looks you were having a good time!

  • @rockybull22 Aw, you were having fun, and feeling the music!

  • Respond to this video... Love it, the good old days.

  • @rockybull22 you were there; you lived it! and it's documented! that's 'kool' as hell!

  • @rockybull22 I wish I could dance next to you that moment !! porblem is that I was 4 years old back then.... Go girl !!!

  • @rockybull22 Look like you were keeping with the rhythm of the group. At least you saw them perform live because this is probably the best live version of "jungle boogie" i've seen to date.

  • @rjam1974

Ya me too. thank you to all of you for your great comments. I love them!!!

  • @rockybull22 LMAO You looked fine. hahahaha Definitely feeling the groove baby!

  • @rockybull22 Shoot, you were gittin' ON IT, sister, the funk bus came by and you had an all-day pass...

  • @rockybull22 ........Doin' Yo Thang! But why didn't you get the White Folks up also? haha

    PEACE

  • It took talent and artistry to be on the Midnight Special. I loved watching all the bands every week no matter what genre of music that was on for the show.

  • Brilliant!

  • DAMN, who is the DRUMMER?

  • @jonsilence The drummer is George Brown....

  • @jonsilence Funky George...

  • This is when Kool were truly COOL, edgy & dangerous, with a blazing and brutal rhythm section who took no prisoners....before they were ruined by the likes of 'Celebration', which was really their epitaph.

  • Never has it felt so good to be eighteen and playing the drums to songs like this

  • even now in 2011 this song sounds cool. My 16 year old daughter even thought it sounded way ahead of its time.

  • Is 3:13 for real or fake?

  • @spankroft101 R u fucking serious??!! even my 92 year old grandma can do it better....

  • @spankroft101: The Tarzan yodel at 3:13---repeated years later by Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth during the intro for 'Everybody Wants Some'--is REAL!

  • the drumer

  • Dang, Kool and The Gang was and still is CRUCIAL!!

  • TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!

  • Black folks jammin' to a kick ass tune, white folks toe-tappin' and layin' there like a dead fish. WTF!

  • I remember when this came out. Totally new sound, revolutionary

  • Im a white kid, and I danced my ass-off to this song. I was in love with Ricky West, so anytime I got to dance and see my honey.....was sweet. RIP Babe.

  • Best part is Tarzan at 3:10

  • wow, a few of thse guys have passed on, RIP Funky George on the drums and Clay on the guitar

  • @jody808 , hiya , yeah and Ricky Westfield (Vocals and Electric Piano)..Man, what a groove........we'll hear in heaven..........mmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • @jody808 Damn it, do you really have to remind us fans how old we are?I was born in 1973 and I see guys like J. Brown and Rick James dying and I say to myself that it seems like yesterday when they were live, wild and kicking and I was dancing my ass off.Only it wasn't yesterday,it was ages ago(I'm getting emotional)Lucky for us that there are sites like youtube and people keeping the good music alive.I wonder if the next generation of kids will ever have such musical richness and fun in life.

  • @dixxjamm don't feel bad, i remember 1973 fondly through this music

  • @dixxjamm .....to answer your question: "HELL NO"! We crossed-over with Integration. Then we left the Black Church and sold our SOULS for the Almighty DOLLAR: (

    PEACE

  • @jody808 George is still alive, trumpet player Spike Mickens passed away just recently.

  • @GarwinEugeneW I did not know that, thanks for letting us know. R.I.P. SPIKE!!!!!!

  • @MrMegaFredzeppelin no problem

  • there's nothing compares to this music today music today and music then is like night and day.

  • I dig it...oh yeah...I dig this.

  • Bring back good memories.. I think I wore that 45 out and my parents were going crazy from me playing and dancing to it non stop.. Thanks!!!

  • GROOVY !!!!

  • Kool looks like he's 14 years old....lol

  • It goes to show some things never change... black folks are gonna move when there's a groove going on. ::))))

  • Such a positive energy !! They are born to play music ! So unique! So special!

  • all dem white kids need to dance

  • @NewAgeComix uhm... white kids CAN'T dance >.>
