I'm guessing from comments that Kool is that scared little kid on bass LMAO I would never have picked it. I thought he would be the guy up front. Kool cracks me up - he looks like he wants to run away hahahaha What a fantastic live performance. Love this track.
At 1:12 - I'm probably the only one who sees this. But in this video Kool and the Gang remind me of "Fat albert and the Cosby kids"- minus Fat Albert of course.
What are they playing so fast for? And what's with the white-clad cult up in front? Weird. A great song, though, and rockybull22 was definitely there.
@evlgenius09 Because it's a fast jam fool. ;) THis would be nowhere near as epic if you slowed it down. The point is for it to be fast, furious and funky. WHY would you want it played slower?
This is so hilarious and classic. Jungle Boogie is a song that WILL ALWAYS BE JAMMING> Kool looks like he is 8 years old, lost and scared to death. But he can play that damn bass. They are all great musicians as you had to be in the 70s... There was no faking back then real musicians playing real instruments real well....! Thank God I grew up in the 70s so grateful. Yellow Sweater lady you are the bomb !!
Yep I"ve never lost that capacity to have a good time. I still love to dance (only better now) Have a good time and dance enjoy life there's enough shit thrown at you to be miserable later.
See the girl in the yellow cardigan dancin and clappin like tomorrow will never come? That's me at 15. I was a damn dance major too. I'm very sorry for those who will never be able to close their eyes again.
@rockybull22 Look like you were keeping with the rhythm of the group. At least you saw them perform live because this is probably the best live version of "jungle boogie" i've seen to date.
It took talent and artistry to be on the Midnight Special. I loved watching all the bands every week no matter what genre of music that was on for the show.
This is when Kool were truly COOL, edgy & dangerous, with a blazing and brutal rhythm section who took no prisoners....before they were ruined by the likes of 'Celebration', which was really their epitaph.
@spankroft101: The Tarzan yodel at 3:13---repeated years later by Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth during the intro for 'Everybody Wants Some'--is REAL!
Im a white kid, and I danced my ass-off to this song. I was in love with Ricky West, so anytime I got to dance and see my honey.....was sweet. RIP Babe.
@jody808 Damn it, do you really have to remind us fans how old we are?I was born in 1973 and I see guys like J. Brown and Rick James dying and I say to myself that it seems like yesterday when they were live, wild and kicking and I was dancing my ass off.Only it wasn't yesterday,it was ages ago(I'm getting emotional)Lucky for us that there are sites like youtube and people keeping the good music alive.I wonder if the next generation of kids will ever have such musical richness and fun in life.
@dixxjamm .....to answer your question: "HELL NO"! We crossed-over with Integration. Then we left the Black Church and sold our SOULS for the Almighty DOLLAR: (
