  • no problem - I do use this proa as a shunter, etc, and the sail although looks tiny, it is plenty big for one person - I do not use any steering - so I guess I am agreeing with you - the whole point of the tacker was to just experiment - I get bored easy - that is whay I built this proa some years ago and rigged first as classical as you can ge away with in Miami

  • The sail works really well as a shunter - so the sail works - the issue is as I conver this rig into a tacker - it loose all the advantage of a crab claw - it will need a small jib - look at the proasailing -long version video to see how fast the boat was moving with winds of 5 -10knots - plenty fast

  • What are the issues?

  • this is originally a shunter proa - it works great since I do not have to tack - i.e. the bow does not have to come across the wind - the steep V hull makes it very hard to tack w/o a daggerboard and a tiller - frankly the shunting mode is so much easier since i do not need a daggerboard nor a tiller to steer the boat
