Am I the only one wondering if he was wearing the traditional undergarments (looks like a diaper) under the Japanese outfit he's wandering around in at the beginning?
@carlomagno55 I find the best way to get a good tone is to focus on your guitar and your pedals. Ive played everything from Mesa-Boogie, to Marshall, to Matchless, to Peavey, all the way down to the cheapest solid state practice amp you can imagine, but as long as I have a decent guitar, and a top shelf overdrive pedal I can get my tone with just a few minutes of knob tweaking.
@bigfish0886 Excelent, thank you very much, it's very frustrating when the money is between you and the sound and feeling you want, what pedal do you recomend???
@carlomagno55 I'm currently using the VOX Ice 9 overdrive, but If you're on a tighter budget the Digitech Bad Monkey, Visual Sound Route 808, and the BOSS SD-1 are all great pedals.
@Sahilontube - That Dani California solo is off the hook! Jimmy Page does his lick at 3:52 in Dazed and Confused (1969). That is the earliest manifestation of that lick that I can conjure up. Clapton may have done something like it with Cream in the mid-sixties. Great little blues rock lick; definitely not original to KISS, though.
it's absolutely incredible seeing guitars and pedals in the wild like this, glad someone actually managed to find some footage of pedal families, strings and cables without human interaction
This is a fuckin awsome video and a fuckin awsome song, and an even fuckin..er (lol) guitar leson from the man himself.
What an awsome riff, and a killer execution of the runs and licks, such great phrasing. I always like Gilbert's raw dry tone he usually chooses to use during his lessons to because it really lets you hear what he's playing. Cheers, IC.
Lol! Paul i'd love it if i could really find your gear lying around like that and growing on trees.....but where do we find the skills and 2 ring fingers minus a little finger? :D
Paul rules! Love the white Marshall - Apparently Paul is sometimes using the Randy Rhoades 1959 model - with the cascade modification, where the tubes are wired in series instead of parallel for more gain. Looks like RR1959 is being discontinued and costs $4,000 anyway, so only way to get that sound may be to wire it up yourself. Search Marshall cascade modification for instructions. I plan on doing this to a JCM 800. Hopefully it won't blow the output transformers!
