I love going to the gorge. but ive never climb the staircase. i just got back from our january trip but were going again in feburary. whats the stair case like geting up to the top?
It's like a "staircase" haha. Actually it is a serious of knockouts in the face of the rock that is very weathered and smooth. Climbing it isn't much harder that ascending a normal staircase, with the exception of one little 20' stretch where doing it on all fours is easier than upright. Would not consider it a climb, just a special hike. You should check it out, there is, as far as I know, the largest rock shelter in the gorge at the top, Council Chamber. Worth the hike alone to see it.
