have a hilux SR5 new And a BJ40 land cruuser............i know which is better off road...maby not as comfortable................. but landcruiser is diesel hilux 4L petrol
Awesome...just bought a 1972 FJ40 and plan to restore it...i could do a 350 swap but why I dont like changing the toyota reliabilty of it....the 2f and a webercarb will suite just fine...not enough turbo charge it....
Glad to see American children arent the only ones you have to tell "come over here" more than once to. I've had 3 of the vehicles in this video. Have to say that the FJ is still my favorite. So geniusly simple and will go anywhere you point it. I've considered dropping a 350 in mine but the damn 1F still runs so good I just can't justify it until it takes a dive for good.
Oooh I know, and whilst the cars are rolling maybe it would teach us a lesson if some of the kids got killed, or better still we all crash into each other and die.
Sorry that is a really well thought out comment...
Depends where you"re from I guess. In Victoria Australia a chev will cost from re-ringer to full rebuild $1800 to $5500, (whichever way you go though, I recommend a "stage 2" cam grind- INSTANT power!). Turbo 400 auto- $400-$600. Adapter plate for the transfer $900 odd & an engineers cert- $800... OR you could buy a resto job like this one already with the conversion done for $2000, spend another $3K for a roadworthy and eng. cert, then go out into the bush and reek havoc.
Bad for the earth???? HAHHAHAHAAA how so?? Is the nasty chemicals on the tyres going to ruin the wet dirt they're driving on?? Don't worry...I'm sure tress will be able to grow there for you to hug.
hmmm can drive thru it with low revs, but fun when in the mood. just wonderin where the trailer of wood is? We all do stuff n look back at it, enjoy the lowd noises!!!hv fun or don't do it! cheers.
Yep that is pretty bad alright, sometimes you get too carried away, after doing this we have made a conscious decision not to do it again.
Not sure what you mean by amateurs? Seriously I dont know too many people that get paid for hitting the trails on the weekends with their kids. Do you? Are you a professional wheeler at 18? Mate my hats off to you.
I miss my 76 FJ40, wonder how long will my drivetrain last on my 97 TJ with 35 mud tires doing that. Thank God I convinced my wife to get our new FJ Cruiser. I feel much safer at home incase of a real emergency.
yeah it was a rich reward finding that mud hole, we had driven down an overgrown track which wasn't too bad for the FJ40 and the 4Runner but the two brand new vehicles were crying as it was like driving through barbed wire. The Pajero is covered in new scratches :)
on to my 5th toyota ...... never go anywhere else....maby a GU patrol some day...haha

Ceh? You don't need power to spin it up in mud, my 55KW 4Runner would tear that shit up!

why u guys change original 2f for a v8?
nocturnehawkve 3 years ago
because it is more powerful and more fun than the 2F and even more economical
Scottsinoz 3 years ago
How is it more economical?? I have a 45 with a 2f that I wanna put a v8 in. Expensive to convert?

i mean are the spider gears welded in the rear end. kind of like a locker only both wheels spin at the same speed all the time.
x84toyota4x4 3 years ago
Nah mate LSD only I think
Scottsinoz 3 years ago
was the rear end of the 40 welded?
x84toyota4x4 3 years ago
What do you mean?
Just a standard rear end I think - nothing too flash or otherwise

This is so bad for the earth, no wonder people hate us 4 wheelers. Stay the trail, have some respect. Amateurs.

Oh I get it, that was an insult...

Yeah, seeing this gets me a bit ticked. Sorry. I wish I got paid to take my 40 out. Instead it usually costs me lots of money!
lex33144 4 years ago 2
No problems, I will be posting some more footage more appropriate to what we do when we get out into the bush. It costs me too...
