  • perhaps some rye....

  • He pronounces everything correctly in their corresponding languages, I respect that.

  • Notice when they pan through the Tequila selection, NO PATRON! You fucking music video hype beasts take note.

  • only key bottles, oh that's ok then.... THESE DRINKS COST MORE THAN 1,000 QUID IN UK... BLOODY HELL

  • Come on, what about the green fairy? Absinthe!!!!

  • The hardest part about stocking a home bar for variety is not the liquors (which, with the exception of vermouth, will basically keep forever). The problem with having a variety available at home is the mixers. Keeping ginger beer, orange juice, simple syrup, dark simple syrup, pomegranate juice, coke, tonic water, soda water, and fresh lemons/limes/oranges/whatever on hand can be very tricky... as most of these mixers will go bad on you if you don't plan for particular drinks.

  • Cachaça is not your regular bottle in you house, unless you are nostalgic brazilian away from home.

  • @cuiqueiro what about Caipirinha lovers in Europe and China? drinks have gone international and technically everyone knows about them nowadays. a drink isn't confined to one society anymore. I think a Cachaça is now as important as a rum in a home bar

  • does any 1 no what would be good to get if im starting out as i dont own a bar or have the same amount of money as this guy

  • @b1gman11 1 Havana club 1 Captain Morgan 1 Bacardi Black 1 Skyy or Plymouth or Absolut or Svedka or Smirnoff 1 Bombay Sapphire 1 Jose Cuervo silver 1 Jose Cuervo Reposado 1 Bulliet Bourbon 1 Scotch 1 Martini Bianco 1 Martini rosso 1 Triplesec 1 Angostura 1 blue Curacao (optional) 1 baileys (optional) 1 Tia Maria (optional) these + the juices will make you a million cocktails

  • You're not going to be serving 100 different people with 100 different drinks every night. Plus, most people don't know what they're drinking or what they like to drink, they just pick one and stick with it. Oh and you'll probably want a bunch of "coffee liqeurs" (I mix them with coffee a lot) such as Frangelico, Amaretto, Baileys etc.

  • Honestly, being a bartender myself, you probably don't need any of the stuff in the back row that he mentioned. You'll need all your hard liquors. As far as scotches, brandys and cognacs are concerned, these are more a matter of taste. I suggest a blended and a single malt scotch and something aged, just in case you want to class things up a bit. Other than that McGinnis provides a wide variety of liqeurs that you can use to modify all sorts of drinks. That's about all you'll need.

  • what where the so co at?

  • what cachaca is he holding up there?

  • So...is blue curacao and 8-year-old kahlua good?

  • just buy every bottle that comes in a plastic

  • I've been enjoying all of Eben's videos, but when i saw that his no1 chocie of gin was Plymouth gin....well, the guy is my new hero.

Plymouth gin is the best i've ever had.

  • Where is your Kahlua and Bailey`s?

  • nice shit ! i'm a fan of scotch and bourbon but you have to think about girly drink...

always keep (hidden:P) some blue curacao... melon liquor like midori and some fuckin peach schnapps... i know it sucks...

  • "Perhaps" "perhaps" "perhaps" "perhaps". That list was excessive.

  • My rule of thumb for starting a quick home bar is to buy everything you need to make a Long Island Iced Tea. Not exactly a favorite drink of mine, but it is popular and you'll be able to make a countless amount of drinks with all the ingredients.

    Vodka

    Gin

    Rum

    Tequila

    Triple sec

    Lemons

    simple syrup

    Coca-Cola

Add a good bottle of Bourbon and maybe some dry and sweet vermouth, along with a bottle of bitters and you'll be set for a while.

  • lol the look on his face when he starts explaining how to bring alcoholism everywhere you go with smaller bottles

  • i think he wants to run our pockets empty

  • @Chipm0nk14 hahahahahahaha

  • I like Chopin alot, though it's good to go for another brand fir a different taste from tim to time. Vodkas differ alot, and taste depending on the brand and the way you serve them.

  • Russian Standard

  • lol, u gatto b kiddin me. Chopin or Belvedere is the only way to go. only Polish wódka's are the best u can get. but i agree that absolut is completely rubbish.

  • just wondering what your reasons are for being anti-absolut vodka. This is NOT criticism. The bar I work at uses adsolut as a house vodka, aswell as having premium vodka's available

  • You people are fucking stupid, there's no reason to splurge on "premium" vodka. Vodka by definition is a tasteless combination of ethanol and water. It's not aged or anything, it goes straight from the still to the bottle. Vodka is vodka is vodka.

  • Last year I would've agreed with you. But I've tried some of those stupidly expensive vodkas, and I can drink them straight up on ice. And I like it. I've never like vodka straight up, but there is a difference.

  • agreed the only time there really is a difference is the flavored vodka with the ratio they use between flavor and actual alcohol.. but if your buying regular vodka grey goose and bankers are pretty much the same.

  • @xPythox Too right! Any tasteless Vodka is fine. What is this guy on about? I thought this was for a home bar -_-

  • @xPythox

You don`t know what you are talking about.

  • I use Sobieski. It's good quality for how cheap it is. I paid $8.99 for 750 mL. It and Svedka are great cheap brands. So see? You don't have to go out and buy the most expensive brand you can find. I would be wary of the other cheap brands though...Sobieski and Svedka are the way to go.

  • Sobieski and Svedka are very great vodka's for their price range, you might also want look into 3 Olives Vodka, its an english wheat vodka that has a slight sweet aftertaste that sorta hits the back of your pallate. Must try for all vodka lovers.

  • vodka is not distuingishable from eachover, its ethanol out and out

  • i disagree, i drink vodka "regularly" (dont wanna sound like an alcoholic lol, where im from the budget vodka is called glenns which i can pick up for about £5, i find it almost unbearable even when mixed, where as smirnoff, which i can pick up for about £8 for the same size, i enjoy neat, but i spose it just varies per pallate i guess :)

  • dun be fokin stupid mate, both those vodkas is shit, if you wanna compare use somethin like chopin/belvedere and then smirnoff not your local irish news agent piss water, jeezus.

  • if u read the comment i was replying to, it sed that vodka is not distinguishable from other vodkas period. Glens is a vodka, a very low budget vodka but vodka nonetheless, smirnoff is the most sold vodka across the world and cost slightly more, i was simply giving my opinion using a small but well known example, dont come on youtube and comment on post that 1. you dont know the context in which they are said and 2. have nothin to do with you, your use of language just makes u look like a fool

  • anonymous or not, the persona you put across is a foolish one, at the end of the day, i was responding directly to someone else, they have not responded and therefore have no problem with what i said, you however, use nothing but vulgarity and foul language in a situation which doesnt call for it, I have at no point been rude to you. From what i can tell, the world would benefit a lot more if you killed yourself, rather than me as it seems you lack the ability to have an adult discussion. Fail

  • @manicprime Pardon me? Your comment is verging on craziness.. You can most certainly tell the difference between a good vodka and a bad one.

  • Pytho you need to get out more. A sensitive pallet can tell between cheap and quality vodka.

  • This is just another case of someone trying to prove that they are an alcohol snob by name dropping some unmentioned brands.

Absolut is a very versatile brand who's different flavors lend well to mixed drinks, I always have a bottle on hand. It is all about personal pallet and to condemn another brand because of price or because it seems too mainstream at the time is wrong.

Taste a lot, then make your own decisions.

  • Yeah, thanks. "You can get a bottle of bourbon, or else you can buy these 1,000 other things." Something like "These are the essential 8 bottles that will make 98% of drinks people are looking for." would have been more informative, at least for little ol' me.

  • some akvavit maby. Thats nice.

  • I would not keep gin in the house for love or money. One gin hangover = life-long lesson.

  • @stone1home yes SIR!

  • all you need is Jamesons whiskey, Sailor Jerry Rum, and cabo wabo.

  • Vokda in the freezer and you're done. Don't get cheap vodka Absolut and up, stoly is garbage it tastes like petrol.

  • what would you say is the best? or a few quality brands?

  • There's two kinds of drinking sipping and gulping. There's no point in drinking a whole bottle of hideously expensive whiskey, it's for sipping. If you're drinking whiskey get a bottle of Jameson 12 year old, if you're sipping the the Macallan is good. Likewise with vodka Absolut/Smirnoff is ok, anything cheaper will make you blind.

  • Wild Turkey is fucking lethal, the best drink out of the US by far. Warning after 4 or 5 of those babys you are likely to get arrested and/or shot for no particular reason.

  • @nilbud "best frink out of the US by far" - me thinks you haven't had too much of a variety past the heavily marketed spirits from the US.

In bourbon alone, I can list 20 that are better.

  • @Bulldog22031 Jameson 1780 is a nice drop of Irish Whiskey, it's a little bit more expensive than standard Jameson but it's the best balance between being affordable and being rotgut. I just don't enjoy drinking whiskey that costs me €50 a measure. I don't see the point in €25,000 bottles of wine or flying first class either (it's the same metal tube, why would I spend thousands renting a nicer chair for a few hours).

Maybe I'm cheap but I prefer to drink it than look at it.

  • @nilbud Who said anything about €25,000 bottles? Eagle Rare 10 Elijah Craig 12 Buffalo Trace Evan Williams Single Barrel (very under rated IMO) George T Stagg Eagle Rare Basil Hayden's 8 Baker's 7 Booker's W.L. Weller Pappy Van Winkle Buffalo Trace Blanton's Knob Creek Jefferson's Reserve Four Roses Woodford Reserve Bulleit Bourbon ^These all range from 17 to 100 dollars (USD) and are all WAY better than Wild Turkey.
  • @Bulldog22031 Well ok then

  • @nilbud hahaha wild turkey is awesome i used to drink half a bottle a night when i was at a party

  • You might want to buy a liquor store...Good suggestions though.

  • Nice that they made this. But shows us like 100 bottles in 3 minutes. Not very informative for people who really don't already know t.

  • This will help me move beyond vodka and mountain dew.... yeah, one day I will be classy, lol.

  • This is helpful to someone trying to understand some of the variations, but it didn't break down the specific 7 liquors; then expand on the 'modifiers' as they were called. Instead it listed more products than I could count and with no real methodology. I'm sure the presenter knows his trade, but the content didn't follow the title.

Personally, I enjoyed the vid, but don't think forwarding it on to people I know would help them much.

    cheers
