Actually off the line a 4 stroke has more power because it has 4 stokes. But 2 strokes take a shorter time to rotate therefor they have a faster acceleration. If the rider was good the 250 would've taken it cuz it's super light and has faster acceleration. The only way you could say 4 stroke is better is cuz they're capable of making bigger 4 stoke motors like the 450.

LMFAO no you don't... 4 strokes means there is a power stroke then exhaust stroke then an intake stroke then compression and power again.. every 2 rotations of the crank power is produced... in a 2 stroke motor there is 2 strokes lol... 1 power 1 exhaust then power again... 2 strokes produce more power and quicker hence the need for a 450cc 4 stroke engine to compete with a 250cc 2 stroke engine. 4 stroke do have a longer and smoother power

Depends on what you're doing with it. It's proven that 4 strokes make better lap times because of the smoother power delivery and increased rider control. The fact of the matter is that more than 80 percent of all mx bikes sold NEVER see a track. I have a yz 250 2 stroke with exhaust, boyesen reed setup, ported, and high comp dome, and NO 450 bike with any bolt ons can catch me. I spent $1000 modifying it. a 450 costs more than $1000 more than a 250 2 stroke. It was beating 450 quads stock.

I own both, I like the 4 stroke because you don't have to work on it all the time. I like the power of my flat line racing built blaster that will top out in the 80"s. Gotta remember, it's also on the skill of the rider who wins.
