@sauc2304 ive made adjustments to my theories and ways of a golf swing lol, your right! lag is nothing but speed, and another angle of attack in to the ball, now paths of a draw and fade have to do with alignments in the set up, yes your correct
When you hit with your hip and right shoulder instead of forearm, you then already have created lag without noticing it so obvious in slow motion that poor beginners get confused. Please stop all of these stupid shows. And lets keep it simple for average golfers. Thank you all
@RobertMirzakhanian well why dont u make a stupid video and properly explain these "simple techniques". Otherwise, keep your mouth shut and let us continue getting these FREE tips and vids, or as u so eloquently put it..."stupid shows"
@helenathena Its like "whhhhaaaaatttt!" lag has nothing to do with draw and fade! lol drawing and fading are results of numerous factors albeit address positions against the target line. Lag is a result of a good swing with wrist cock, shaft lean and hands leading the club head. Lag is nothing more than a speed producer ;)
The best training aid that I have ever seen for creating Lag is the Pro-Lag. You guys should check it out...i picked up 20 yards. They have a website....theprolag
i suggest one handed drill. hit a tee'd up ball using your right hand. This will train you to drop that right shoulder and push through the shot. make sure you follow through. then do the left hand. Follow through with the shot. it will teach you correct lag timming. once you have that drill down you will have know problem hitting the sh*t out it.
For a long time instructors taught students to have the feeling you were “sitting” on a bar stool. I always believed we should have been teaching people to feel as though you were “leaning” back on a stool. The last thing you would ever want to do is sit in golf. Sitting will cause the golf club to swing too level to the ground in the downswing, and you will have a tendency to hit the ground behind the golf ball. w w w (dot) golferbreak80 (dot) c0m
it's similar to a baseball batter.Of course, the golfer does not stride forward with his foot leaving the ground but the the hips do move toward the target and the shoulders are held back.
People you gotta understand that these players don't always hit it like that. There might be a few reasons for this lag, but I tend to use it more often when my ball to release when landing. Lag means reducing the release when swinging, so it takes off some spin off. Many tour pros use this by varying clubs meaning varying clubs loft, but when there's an obstable and have to hit the same trajectory, this is the way to do it. Full swing with same speed and keeping the hand low as much as possible
lag gets built in on the backswing. The hips turn 45 degrees while the shoulders turn 90.The lag is this coiled energy waiting to be released.Focus on shifting weight from right foot to left while the arms simply drop from gravity.
Lag is only the idea of maintaining the angle between the forearm and wrist, not the body's coiling. The lag I know of can create a lot more clubhead speed if it is maintained, meaning the angle between the forearm and the club is maintained as long as possible. Then when that wrist energy is released it creates a lot more clubhead speed without extra effort than what the uncoiling of the body itself can create.
Lag is analogous to the way nunchuck sticks work. That chain is similar to the wrist and the outside stick travels so much faster than the one in the hand because of hinging and centrifugal force. This is just one more way in which a golfer can create great clubhead speed without swinging harder. A person who is "all arms" has a tough time generating good clubhead speed.
you're talking about the release.Lag is a sequencing of the swing where the hips lead the shoulders through impact and the release of the wrists is a snapshot in time of one event in that sequence.
quite right. starting down correctly will increase your lag in the wrists. These guys don't "hold" the lag they make a move that increases it for these specific low spit low trajectory shot types.
rw5791 pretty much got it here. i dont care how much shou;ders turm pr hips turn, buts its caused by his 'coil' n shifting weight before moving shoulders n arms
Is the lag the reason for many pros having their hands/arms in front of their front left leg at impact ( right handed golfers )? I've heard people say they try to have their arms in front of their body as much as they can at impact to induce more lag for longer drives. Is that true, or would that throw off the drive/shot ? I am sort of doing that now, instead of just using lag to get my clubface behind the ball longer. Please let me know if you can help me. I am alos fighting fades....THanks
if ur trying to get ur arms ahead of the body then you will hit a fade. thats not what you want in the sequence through the ball. it should be hips, arms, then club. getting your hands ahead of the club is good but not when they outrace the hips. watch sergio, his hips lead the way on the downswing. if you are all arms, then you'll come over the top and hit a fade.
I don't necessarily agree with saying that if you get your arms ahead of your body you hit a fade. Everything needs to be in sync but your arms will appear on video to be ahead of the ball at impact ... hence lag. I may be clarifying what you already.
You have to let lag happen naturally. do not try to hold lag an the downswing if u r fighting a slice it will just worsen it and make your clubface more open.
Nothing in golf is natural at first. I would work on it at first and quite hard but eventually it should become natural. You shouldn't have a problem with an open clubface if you keep your clubface square the whole swing.
That's impossible... The clobe opens in the back swing completely and closes in the follow through completely. Only amateurs keep the club square on the way back which is why they cant break their wrists.
you don't have to cock your wrists to create lag and power. The cub opens in relation to the body turning, they actually don't move at all in a solid swing, only in space do they appear open
are you mentally retarded? you keep the clubface square the entire golf swing (if you're good). I don't think you realize that a square club face is always parallel to your left forearm. So at 9 o clock on the back swing it is pointing at the top. It has the illusion that it is opening, but in reality all you've done is turn your shoulders while keeping the clubface in a constant position. IDIOT
@tmousc lag isnt something you have to practice. it is the result of having good fundamentals. and i disagree with your first statement. the first time i picked up a club and learned how to grip it. i striped the ball and had the same effective swing i have today.
I get more lag than cross country jet passengers

The "lag" is only the hands not going back to the adress position but to impact position, waaay in front of the ball.

you dont need an extreme lag to be a goo golfer , just look at steve stricker..
its all about what fits the individual... This lag in the video might fits the player in the video.

lag is everything, its the reason you hit it straight, and to the pros its the way you hit both fade and draw, and it keep the club face sqaure
