@cheesypasta - how about the fact that he is a part of the most elite special forces unit that AMERICA has. sounds pretty american to me. You must be one of those who speaks before they think.
how could you even say something negative about the SEALs, our country, or Americans in general after watching this? if you have the mental toughness, as well as physical toughness that this guy does, then please step up and you have room to talk. all the rest of you...shut it
@Boomercougar You can do not like Americans for whatever reason, but you all guys have to admit - as a nation they have big balls! I don't like everything in USA, but I admire American people for toughness and creativity. Greetings from Poland!
@Boomercougar what the hell does this guy have to do with america.. what a dumb arse comment, he represents himself, not the rest of you. America is the most obese nation on the planet, and more than that, they voted Bush Jr in twice. get real
no protection on nipples? he's quite muscular and dude i got pain watchin this just thinking about running this amount of distance with this wet shirt rubbing your nipples! :D
This is motivating, I need motivation badly. Every bit helps, so I'm thankful for this kind of stuff being online.. My life's mentally very hard and 99% of time I have to deal with it alone. I train my head to overcome problems and reach always new limits, only the physical part is hanging behind. So, still one hour left of today, not too late to DO something.. :)
@TheMightySinnerHD I'd appreciate your country's efforts if you actually focused on killing terrorists, but that's not the case in Middle East. If you don't know anything about THE FACTS of how the Iraqi oil infrastructure was taken over...I feel bad for you. May God have mercy on your soul, get back healthy.
@pacemaker2point0 Yeah but that's not the point here. I joined the Navy for the greater good, and I look forward to become a SEAL, but as for now I'm going to be stationed in Hawaii. SEALs were established by J.F Kennedy for US defense and counter terrorism. If you wanna chit chat and argue about the situation in middle east, find the army guys or marines. Even though its not their choice to be there. My respect to all Soldiers !!
who ever dislikes this video is a fucking homo!! its not discouraging. he is telling you what its like. it is fucking hard but can be done. this video along with some of his other ones should inspire you to not quit on yourself. because if you do you will NEVER know how far or long you could have gone!! YUTT!!!!!!
What's the point of living your life like this? He doesn't even sound like he's enjoying himself. I love to run, but I do so b/c I enjoy being in nature and connecting with her. My true motivation to run is this connection with Mother Nature, not running just for it's own sake. For me this gives the activity a deeper, more fullfilling purpose. By focusing too hard on the activity this guy is missing the purpose of his actions. I'm ready for negative comments now.
@Sherpaful Come on man, every one has his own reasons, I run too, sometimes b/c I´m getting fat, sometimes b/c I just feel like doing it...it´s ok to have different reasons, the best thing is that, at the end of the day, you become healthier and feel a lot better with yourself...bye : )
@Sherpaful Well I don't want to be too negative b/c everyone has his/her own opinion. But he did sort of explian why he does it dude. Some people aren't enjoying themselves at all an less it is close to or beyond there limits. I'm sure he gets amazing feelings of connectedness when he challanges and surpasses those limits. Just a thought.
@Sherpaful - Good for you. David Goggins is a US Navy SEALs and also a runner for the Wounded Warrior project. So while you're "enjoying being in nature", he's training to save life and to run ultramarathons to get money for the children of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
@DoLpH1983 I don't think he thinks he is better than anyone else. You are looking directly at his words and not looking at the meaning behind them. In everything he does he tries to push his limits and exceed a threshold. To die is to stop exceeding because you can no longer function. He wants to push himself past a previous barrier and to him, that is his definition of his existence. He is not saying "I did something that you couldn't, you are not on my level."
@DoLpH1983 He is saying "I did something I couldn't do before, I am on a new level." What he does is not pointless to him but it may be to you. Living is living in perception, and if he believes this is the way to live then that is life in his world. It just isn't in yours.
David says "nothing is impossible anymore", it is impossible for the human mind to exceed physical capability, to do so would result in death. When he figures that out he will put his extraordinary energy into something else.
Further to my last, The distance is irrelevant when constant "A" remains unchanged. Constant A = leaving it all out there. So if you ran 10 miles and LIAOT, this would be equivalent to running 150 miles and LIAOT. His strategical thinking is flawed and until he pushes himself to DEATH he will just be a wannabe Kamikaze. By finishing his races he is living a vicious cycle. He's a hell of an athlete but until he figures out why its pointless to run these races he will remain a grunt.
I'm an ex soldier, but its not for that reason only i understand why David has never achieved anything spectacular. In every event D claims to "leave it all out there" but in order to LIAOT you must fail to complete the race. If you complete and do star jumps on the finish line you NEVER LIAOT. D has not understood that in order to test human limitation he would have to push himself to the physical limit of endurance which is DEATH, until then the body is always capable of more.
your right. most people can't do what he can, he never once says they can. he was simply expressing that ANYBODY can push themselves past the limits they think they have, which is a fact. he also never claimed to have a "doctorate in performance and exercise" but what he has achieved in his life makes him pretty knowledgeable in running and limits. and i am grown up. pretty sure the only one that has made an ignorant comment is you "you must not know anything about running or the human body"
An amazing individual. Motivated by the desire to achieve excellence and serve his country. There are many like him in our military and that is why it is the best in the world. Keep pushing the limits David.
He's a SEAL and runs these marathons to raise money for fallen soldier's children to go to college, you might think he's crazy or obsessed but when you're tested in combat you will find that there are some reasons to push yourself beyond the limits that you previously thought you couldn't pass.
@CGBeatz Sure, but i think you are underestimating the human body, if you run like this, your body will let you know if you are eating right or not by how you respond.
@CGBeatz Definitely need to be healthy, but more importantly you need to make sure you eat the proper amounts of long-term energy (fat-calories) and short-term energy.. albeit that the short-term energy sources are useless in his situation. He probably eats a ridiculous amount of calories per day.
I understand he is trying to find his limits and go past it. But it seems like he has done that and is now obsessed which doesn't lead to a healthy, balanced life.
Who would dislike this video other than some America hating pathetic individual. This guy is motivated and an absolute phenom. I wish I could shake his hand because now I am going to push even harder..
I feel bad for this gentleman, as someone who has struggled with an exercise addiction I know that you need to balance your workouts with just living real life. No balance = No enjoyment = No Reason to go on other then pain.
I used to live this life, and this mind-set is powerful within the human body: unfortunately I almost died, and had to stop. I have never been able to go back, but maybe from the words of this one man I can go back without going "too far."
Very good!.....but please think on the possiblility of a twisted ankle, a snake bite or who knows what other perils in the middle of nowhere.......Who is going to help you?
@masonrudyg To tell people that every single person can do what the SEAL in the video does by having the proper motivation is a blatant fn lie. Don't be nieve. It's simple science and human physiology: it is anatomically IMPOSSIBLE for the majority to do what the guy in the video does. @DoLpH1983 David Goggins had a charity he founded himself.
The "Special Operations Warrior Foundation".
Basically any family of a lost loved one in the Navy SEAL's gets support from the proceeds of the money he won in the race he does.
David is done now because he reached the million dollar mark.
He is someone i look up to and was not a paid athlete.
Not a dollar went to him or his family.
This man has a cause which you obviously are ignorant of.
