advanced?? yeah yeah, I have used this in a match! :) it is very effective.
my MMA trainer have trained Paul Daley and James Wilks!
and my Muay Thai trainer have been 5 time kickboxing champion in 5 diffirent kickboxing styles. his name is Trevor Ambrose, and my MMA trainer is Mathew Charles Turner. yes, I am very proud since I'm telling this, lol.
Auty lol I saw your video and you are not an mma fighter you are a sad wanna be. 1. zero face defense,( I have 16 years olds that would of knocked you out in first round. 2. crappy hands (you hit like an untrained girl) 4. Terrible kicks (nuff said) 5. no takedowns, submission or grappling skills. sorry man you need to train. You are not an mma fighter, and thats why you think the thumb has to be up.
I whole heartedly agree with you there. Those two basically had a crappy boxing match. Very little technique, no defence, and assuming no ground game. He cant call himself a mixed martial artist because all he showed us is that he can sort of do some boxing
No the thumb does not have to be up for this armbar. Anyone with any experience and knowledge knows this. The bicep must be up. that means the elbow is down. the thumb can be turned any direction and the armbar can be done correctly and effectively.
Definately a white belt technique. WHo says that the thumb up has nothing to do with the armbar surely knows nothing about bjj. In order to get the elbow in the right position fo snaping it, the thumb must be up.
the thumb has to be up to do an armbar! anything else will allow the elbow or shoulder to rotate. you might get a submission, but it won't be an armbar. the only exception to this might be if the person applying the armbar is NOT doing so from his back. oh, and don't call people stupid, that's disrespectful.
you want to bend the arm the way its not supposed to go, in order to make your opponent tap because his arm will break if he doesnt. tap, snap, or nap is the name of the game
Yeah it makes a big difference. It's hard to explain but if the thumb isn't up you can rotate your arm and come under directly passing to side control.

the thumb up is necessary to preform the armbar cuz if the thumb is down and the other guy lifts his hips its not doing any damage to the elbow
sockpuppet3123 2 years ago 2
the thumb has nothing to do with the armbar its the elbow you are trying to break.

a solid fundamental armbar. If the attacker has wrist control the defender is done.

I doubt it is a white belt technique. GSP is at least a purple belt he never thought of this being in the exact same positon against Koscheck.

But he did use it against Matt Hughes ;)
