This is just "DON'T HATE ME" from Stupid Dream...This was the first version of the song, when he wrote it in 2000s, then when Stupid dream came out, there was a new song to go along with the lyrics.
@Azured665 Sorry, I keep telling myself to reply to this but never get around to it. Stupid Dream was released in 1999 and this was demo'd for the first time in september 1998 or around the end of that year any way. I don't mean to appear like a smart arse, but if you're a PT fan I'm assuming you have excellent taste in music and music knowledge that would otherwise suffer from even the slightest faults. Just helping out a fellow fan :)

@xtimewind It's the Battersea Power Station in South London. The same location of Pink Floyd's "Animals" album cover, and of so many other things, but that Floyd cover has to be the most famous use as far as popular culture is concerned.
@josevb95 This song was originally issued as a free download on the PT web site September 2000. I remember getting some other free downloads at the same time, but missed this one. It is also available on bootlegs too. Not officially released on a hard disc.
As many others have said, this song sounds very much like the demo version of what would turn into Don't Hate Me. However, both are distinctly beautiful. Steven Wilson is a musical genius.
this song is featured on a cd called "phantoms" along with some other unreleased stuff, a radiocast and a live concert

I like this! Here we can hear yet another reference to trains. I wish this track had made it unto one of his albums.

Chords from "Waiting Phase One", lyrics from "Don't Hate Me." Still worth a listen though. Or maybe a couple hundred.
