What in the hell??? The original sucked and they made it 1000x worse! People honestly paid to see this train wreck??? This is the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. I'm very sorry if I'm offending anyone, but this is just so awful I couldn't keep silent.
DEVO is an absolute great band. There's no band in the world that can resemble this band. Their theory: going back to basics. This is 'Booji Boy' singing, the character from one of DEVO's first songs Mongoloid. U gotta have humor and some feeling for art to understand this. They're practicing Dadaism
Thumbs up if you know that this is a cover of Kipp Hamilton's lounge performance tune of the same name in the 1966 Toho Kaiju masterpiece "War of the Gargantuas"!
@bps3013 Yes! At an SF Godzilla film festival, Russ Tamblyn told a story about how, when he met Devo, they told him that they sang a song from one of his films. He thought they meant "7 Brides for 7 Brothers" or "West Side Story", but they said, no, "War of The Gargantuas!" LOL!
@dinosaurjr420 well i sure dont define it as some bumbling idiot in a mask wailing in some awful falsetto. I think talented musicians are those that make contributions to their industry, people that cant be replaced. People with unique voices and abilities such as Axl Rose or Eddie Van Halen, the ones whose music will live on forever. That is talent.
And what does me liking Seinfeld have to do with anything?
@Acquisto What's wrong with just having some fun with music? I hardly doubt that Devo was taking this cover so seriously- or else then a "girly" voice would not have been used, but instead his normal one.
Devo does have talent, and they have enough of it to the point where they can get away with jokes like this. Personally, I don't think that ANYONE can replace Devo. I've never heard any other band who sounds anything like them.
It was a touch of genius for Devo to perform this fascinatingly crummy song from War of the Gargantuas, but as dbzsamuele120 points out, it's funnier when you just do it straight. Trying to make it sound bad on purpose is a mistake. It's when you try to make it sound as good as possible that you realize what a funny awful song it is.
Equally genius that you made that connection. I think it was an original composition for "Gargantuas", which is even more bizarre. Check out the vid for Hevy Floe's "War of the Gargantuas".
God forbid music be something other than an ego trip, right spuds? At least, that's the vibe I'm getting from all these pro-braindeath PINKS!!!!!!!!!

Booji Boy is my favorite singer of all time.
He's the only member of DEVO who hasn't aged a bit.
He should do a solo record.

@Acquisto Oh yeah! And having Jerry Seinfeld in your favorites doesn't make you hypocritical at ALL... How do you define talent?
