The Itu I know borders Akwa Ibom with Cross River (that's were the Calabar-Itu bridge is located). But you're right, we actually share a border with Abia state, Aba to be specific. But that's through Ikot Ekpene. And a steep valley separates us. I know that route as I've taken it on numerous occasions, and it's quite busy.
However, the area that borders Akwa Ibom with Abia (on the former's side) is inhabited by the Annang tribe. But I won't be suprised if I here a bit of Ibo as it's a very busy trade route, and we have a lot of Ibo traders that sell their wares on our side of the border.
On the other hand, I think I know your region far better than you. I spent a large part of my childhood in Enugu, Onitsha, Idemili (Nkpor and Ogidi -python worshippers), Atani, and Ogbaro. I also schooled in Isiukwuato-Abia state (Marist Comprehensive Academy). I've also had the oppourtunity of visiting Owerri (Imo state), Nnewi and Enugu-Ukwu. Those were all very fond memories that has shaped me to become who I am today.

I'm sorry you had to go through that experience. However, in my case it's quite different. I happen to mix up with a lot of Nigerians from different ethnic groups, and everyone of them have a number of flaws. But each have their own strengths and things that make them unique. That's what makes Nigeria special. If possible, I advise that you take a trip to both the west and North. Soak in the scenery and mix with the people. It MAY change your views on Nigeria.
With regards to the Yorubas, I think I understand what you've gone through. Over here in UK, I tend to hang out with Yoruba friends on some occasions.And sometimes, I feel left out in conversations when they switch dialect. But they do take pride in their culture, and that's understandable and ought to be further encouraged among the different ethnic groups.
And maybe those Yorubas that treated you wrongly were actually intimidated by you. The Ibos are known to have this raw entrepreneurial spirit and street-wise intelligence that is unrivalled by most (if not all) ethnic groups. And that alone is a source of envy among a number of people. I haven't even mentioned their resourcefulness and innovative spirit.
If you're refering to Ojukwu, he actaully returned a long time ago. I think he's currently in Nnewi with his lovely wife Bianca. By the way, they're still Nigerians :) .

The Itu I know borders Akwa Ibom with Cross River (that's were the Calabar-Itu bridge is located). But you're right, we actually share a border with Abia state, Aba to be specific. But that's through Ikot Ekpene. And a steep valley separates us. I know that route as I've taken it on numerous occasions, and it's quite busy.

However, the area that borders Akwa Ibom with Abia (on the former's side) is inhabited by the Annang tribe. But I won't be suprised if I here a bit of Ibo as it's a very busy trade route, and we have a lot of Ibo traders that sell their wares on our side of the border.

On the other hand, I think I know your region far better than you. I spent a large part of my childhood in Enugu, Onitsha, Idemili (Nkpor and Ogidi -python worshippers), Atani, and Ogbaro. I also schooled in Isiukwuato-Abia state (Marist Comprehensive Academy). I've also had the oppourtunity of visiting Owerri (Imo state), Nnewi and Enugu-Ukwu. Those were all very fond memories that has shaped me to become who I am today.

I'm sorry you had to go through that experience. However, in my case it's quite different. I happen to mix up with a lot of Nigerians from different ethnic groups, and everyone of them have a number of flaws. But each have their own strengths and things that make them unique. That's what makes Nigeria special. If possible, I advise that you take a trip to both the west and North. Soak in the scenery and mix with the people. It MAY change your views on Nigeria.

With regards to the Yorubas, I think I understand what you've gone through. Over here in UK, I tend to hang out with Yoruba friends on some occasions.And sometimes, I feel left out in conversations when they switch dialect. But they do take pride in their culture, and that's understandable and ought to be further encouraged among the different ethnic groups.

And maybe those Yorubas that treated you wrongly were actually intimidated by you. The Ibos are known to have this raw entrepreneurial spirit and street-wise intelligence that is unrivalled by most (if not all) ethnic groups. And that alone is a source of envy among a number of people. I haven't even mentioned their resourcefulness and innovative spirit.

Bonny island.......Ibo names.......I think you're right. But I just made an interesting discovery. Bonny is owned by the Ibani people, who are a sub-category of the Ijaws. However, the name Ibani is actually Ibo from which the Bonny is also derived from. So traditionally, it's owned by Ijaws, but some Ibos settled there as it was a transit point for the slave trade, most of the slaves being Ibos. So, i'll give you that.

All my journalist friends drew blank. While right now I cannot comment further until I find out what really happened in this video, I will say this. I remember a part of the bible were God told Peter not to call any of His animals unclean.
