  • This is a temporary fix at best.....

  • it worked but the thing is I turned it off for like 5 min I turned it back on and the error e 74 came up on my screen again!!

  • It worked

  • this dosnt work!!!!!

  • BE STILL ... get a TRIPOD ... did you repairing your XBOX inside a house boat during hurricane ?

  • hello DR nick

  • is this a permanent fix

  • Hey it's Tommy Wiseau.

  • an austrian accent does not make a guy schwarzeneggar. asshats.

  • Are you guys on crack how the hell does he sound like arnold?

  • is this a perm fix or must it be done often

  • horrible amateur video. sorry.

  • Ive watched this vid over and over but u never showed how to take off that copper line that is connected within that small metal box deal. I'm stuck on that for now.

  • @Lycan171 the copper line is only on the elite. he is working with a standard xbox. :)

  • @TheRyand123 oh ok. ty for the reply. i took mines completely apart and im like f*k it atm, lol. so yea...thanks.

  • nice tv dude

  • why doesnt xbox just give everyone who bought there garbage xbox new ones i refuse to buy a new one because my old one wont work unless i fix it every month and i play it once a week..or THEY can fix it for me for free...i wasted 8 months of live because it wont work...my fault i never returned it when the cd was acting the 2nd month

  • I would pay u to make a video of u saying Arnold lines from movies

  • Ever heard of a TRIPOD??????

  • this is not a permanent fix jackass!!!

  • @killionareUNC He didn't metion it being permanent jackass....

  • @PRODIGYCENTRAL i didnt fuckn say he did dumbass im jus tellin everyone that it isnt!!

  • @killionareUNC But he didn't mention it was..... so what's the point you un-educated prick?....

  • @killionareUNC this fixed my xbox for 30 mins

  • "That's what i did it" oh gosh lol

  • E-74 might be fixed by GPU re-pasting. The best way for me was the gluegun "idea'. But i never used the gluegun. I baked my xbox in the oven for about 5 mins at 425. I did the normal re-pasting and it worked for another few weeks then had to do it again.Granted you must remove everything from the mob. It's a regular thing now but it beats not having an xbox (saving for a ps3). I only suggest doing this if the X-clamp fix has failed after time and you already have the gear (and also desperate).

  • hahahahahaha plug out

  • I so fucking hate when ppl moving their crappy cameras around and all i hear is the fucking noise from their fuckng crappy camera

Anyway how long is this gonna stay fine?

  • just the prrrrrrresurrrreeeee

  • Calls up microsoft...

    "TAKE IT BACK"

  • hey microsoft

can you take me out to dinner the next time you decide to FUCK ME

  • @TheDemonKidBuu2

i like to be taken out dinner before i get FUCKED

  • i did this and my xbox is still displaying system error e74. what can i do

  • @iPumpPussy That's what she said... ;)

Seriously though, you push down in the centre of the clamp and then the sides pop off the heatsink hooks, if you have trouble just use a pen or something to wedge each clamp leg off. :)

  • this somehow works sadly enough..

  • idk to tak off the CPU and GPU yah have ta take out the 2 X's where the big screws are

  • helped

  • It fixed mine u got my thumbs up

  • @fdsdh1

it cool i fixed it.. i dont have a warranty for i opened the case lol but thanks tho im still going to look in to it.. i did what this video showed but i never took the heat sink off of my xbox and it worked for me just fine... time it took about 2min. for my xbox is not in a case.. just a board on my table

  • u sick guy thanks alot :)

  • Awesome!! It worked my friend.

    Thanks

  • Awesome!!It worked my friend.

    Thanks

  • wtf was that a crying baby in the backround ? roflmfao

  • Thank you man¡¡¡¡ It works¡¡¡ After one red light, error 74, i have cleaned the chip (later putted new heat compound). Then overheating, two red lights, press and voilá¡¡¡¡

  • the Sliver things are not fans :/ they are heatsinks.... Just metal that conducts the heat from the chip and moves it somewhere else.

  • @ImpossableRage Also.... at 4:00 that is the GPU not the CPU... :/

  • always trust indians because they know what they are doing ;P

  • Comment removed

  • Mate, all you're doing is prolonging until the E74 error comes up again. E74 is when there is an error with the motherboard, and resetting the xbox, by overheating it, will only make the matter worse. The ONLY method i would recommend is to replace the X clamps underneath the motherboard, but even then you may prolong the inevitable result of a dead 360. Simply put, there is no right or wrong way to fix an xbox 360, cos microsoft are to much of a dickhead to add an extra fan before now.

  • @JamesFuller09 Actually, the E74 is when the graphics chip is loose... that's the reason y it worked when he pressed on it

  • You may kill the gpu like that. when you see the two lights, you put the heatsynk back.

too much heat will kill it!

  • @REVOLTAR53

Just about to say, don't do like he did. A cpu / Gpu is Heat sensitive, never run a chip without a Cooling system or a heat sink. You will fry that thing in no time.

You guys should do more research. what he is doing is wrong.

  • @AquaAngelCGT he was just demonstrating what happens withought it... he didnt intent for viewers to do that as part of the procedure

  • Hey I have a jtag xbox 360 :) but I did exactly what you did and the xbox does not over heat but it still has the lights it turns on then fans speed up VERY FAST!!! Then they just stop and it just does not do anything? Someone help?

  • I'm glad this worked for you, but don't go around telling everyone to do this... thats a really bad way to fix your xbox lol

  • cool

  • i remember when i couldnt turn off an Xbox

  • Your an idiot

  • IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going onto my third year with a USED xbox 360 arcade and it finally crapped out on me with this error so I took it apart, took out the heatsinks and let it sit... i didnt do anything else than to rub the video card gave up than put it back together and it started working just like that. I didnt have a chance to realy test it yet but i am mostly proud that i fixed it (even though I did almost nothing) thank you for the tips!

  • i dont approve.

  • im a dumb ass i just thought of something i am now on my 5th xbox and they all died from E74 error same everytime and i still had my old av cable from my first one thas why is kept doing it FIXED

  • @camdog124 damn bro

  • @denverbronco27 i bought a new cable yesterday and did not work FUCK

  • Thats Your xbox!!!!

  • vuwalla

  • @kematian896 FUCK YOU NIGGA

  • shty vid

  • @Xxx1Pwnage1xxX thats what all your vids are

  • Removing and replacing the heat sink worked for me. I use my heat gun to resolder the GPU to the MoBo. It was a success. Other problems that are also related to E74, is the AV cable. Basic rule of trouble shooting, start simple and move along trying every thing until you find a fix. Your method works quite nicely.

  • my xbox wont even heat up

  • Comment removed

  • Holy shit thats all it took. THANKS A MILLION MAN

  • -.- wow, I like how you fixed it but you are kind of stupid to leave the power connected while repairing the xbox.

  • @Dragonfire4 Moron, this is standard procedure when repairing an xbox. It makes no difference unless you take your tounge and place it on the motherboard.

  • @brodudesnsupras hmm lets see, have you ever repaired a computer? if so then your doing it wrong by leaving the power connected. xBox itself is no different then a computer. It heats up to temperatures enough to burn you like a computer. A single shock of static electricity to the motherboard will screw it over like a computer. So leaving the power connected will make no difference?

  • @Dragonfire4 Yes, I've worked on many, chipped many consoles, and flashed consoles as well, mr. know it all. I am telling you that if you want to diagnose quickly, hooking up the power with the mobo out is the fastest way to do it. I've done it hundreds of times, and I have yet to fry jack shit from static... which has never happened to me in my LIFE.

  • @brodudesnsupras meh, i'll do it my way and you do it yours. It's not like i can change your opinion of me as this is the internet.

  • thats not a CPU its a GPU (graphics processing unit)...its overheating because the newer games are more advanced and the if u use HDMI it just makes them so much hotter that they sit under the heatsinc and fry...i would recommend just dont use hdmi and let it cool or mod it if u need to

  • @dunlapcars Hdmi makes them hotter? da fuck?

  • e 74 error is covered by a 3 year warranty... just send it to Microsoft and they will fix it for free.. or maby even give you a new one!

  • @jammin1033 IF the xbox isnt open if you already tried to open the xbox and break the little sticker on it they wont do anything

  • ur the only dumbass asian i know

  • this is not fix you idiot! all that does it reset then its back to broke again. Fucking dumb shit

  • Thank you so much!

I just fixed the E74 using your method.Don't know how long it will last but... :)

  • what the fuck? im not gonna disect my xbox! if i do it will just break more, you probably have to have a fucking profession in mechanics to do this shit! isn't there an easier way???

  • @supertuber100

how stupid are you? most of the XBOX that had these problems are 2007-2008 models which are out of warranty by now. so it's either dissecting or simply dumping in your trashcan. plus 99.999% of the xbox are ixtreme hacked (to play backup games) and there's no option to even send them back to MS. you have to fix it by yourself (taking any measure available) or just throw it off your window.

  • @nasoszeppos i dont study xbox...

  • @supertuber100 actually it isnt had at all,all you have to have is the right tools.

  • I was also fixing the rrr for the 5th time on my brothers xbox becase he has 1 of the older versions that overheat. So it was working 4 three days then got this bullshit.

This guy in the video is fucking stupid those silver things are heatsinks and if he did this b4 he would of know he had to pull the plug to turn it off.

  • Simpsons:

"Dad, there's something different about you."

"A new tie I am wvaring"

  • i dont trust myself enough to do this

  • its not a long term fix thou:(

  • Cheers my friend, this was the only youtube vid that worked on my xbox when i got E74,thanks.

  • How Come Yours Has No Case

  • i fixed the red rind of death and then this happened 1 red light e74. i did what his cove said but when i turned her on she had the red ring of death i am waiting for her to over heat the cool down at the min so i dont no if she worked or no.

  • You might have to try a use a bigger size star key to make it catch but you can use that screw anymore.Thanx man your video helped did just as was shown dont know how long it was last tho guess will have to see.Thanx again tho.

  • guys i can't remove the grill ive stripped it to its components and ive removed the 4 screws but it won't budge

  • To apply a permanent fix, clean the heat sink (metal piece) and the top of the chip under the heat sink using a q-tip and some alcohol and then apply heat sink compound (purchase at any electronics or computer parts store) to the top of the chip before replacing heat sink.

Also, clean all the chassis pieces and unblock the holes which may be full of dust. And clean the fans.

BE SURE TO ALWAYS UNPLUG THE XBOX WHEN YOU ARE WORKING ON IT. YOU CAN CAUSE A SHORT AND KILL IT FOR GOOD OTHERWISE..

  • i tried something similar, but it happened again, and then i tried overheating it again, it worked for a few hours then stopped. please help any1, does this mean i need to go to the mechanic?

  • GET TO THE CHOPPA ARGH!!!

  • Thanks alot for the info. Im gonna Attempt another repair.

  • U need a torx 9 and a torx 10

  • This is not a Permanent Fix the 360 will die eventually again and you will have to repeat this Process, and you will eventually get frustrated to the point to where you won't want to open up your console,, and you will revert back to the 'Towel -Trick).etc:.bottom line this works but the prob will never go away..the minute you get any type of Error Msg, you pretty much FUcked*

  • Can you tell me the correct measurements or size of the tool I need to unscrew the Bolts inside the Xbox360. So I know all I need to buy at the Hardware store. Thank you so much.

  • @TheSbaillie t10 and a t8

  • <====CLICK_THIS_NAME_FOR_FREE_XBOX_POINTS&MONTHS&PSNCARDS_AND_LOTS_MORE_WATCH-THE-VIDEO-OR-READ-THE-DESCRIPTION

  • This defenitely works i tried it and it stoped the issue. It only didnt work on my elite xbox because the inside was slightly different. But for all thos xbox with the same interior of the one in this video then yes that peice of shit metal x is worthless and take it off your console. You dont even need to put washers in it cuz the washers get just as hot as the metal x

  • dus dis shit actuaally work or r u just a bull shita

  • Your voice made me jizz man...

  • Do the new consoles have the same problems? Thanx

  • @TheSbaillie All consoles have the same problem, because it became a law in 2006 that all consoles had to use lead free solder, this has a lower resistance to thesolder crystallizing and becoming cold. For a true fix you need to reball with leaded solder.

  • I took my xbox to the shop and they fixed it for £219.99 with some free games thrown in

  • @cjellwood Isn't that like twice as much as the xbox is worth?

  • @Quickiezzz HE bought a new one you fail.

  • asta la vista baby.

  • @mk25121994 its "hasa la vista" (:

  • @mk25121994 its "hasa la Vista Baby" (:

  • @vidnkid2 Isn'tit actually Hasta.... #justsayin

  • @hundoe100 hah probally

  • this works but my problem is whenever i put the disck reader back on it goes back to E 74 and i already put 10 coins on top of the chip but it doesn't do anything and i've already done the xclamp fix like 6 months ago and i've taken apart more than 20 times trying to find a solution and i know what's wrong the heat sinks keep moving due to the heat and the system shakes alot inside cause of the heat but since my xclamps aren't doing their job anymore idk what to do now =(

  • at 1:30 , i sound like overated instead of overheated. jus pointin it out :D

  • YOU PEOPLE WANNA KNOW HOW TO FIX THE RED RIGN OF DEATH?? GET A PS3!!! HAHA BOOYAH!

  • lolwut?

  • tried this fix took me a while to get it down to just the board but otherwise worked like a charm good thing too i really wanted to play new vegas

  • OK GUYS GOT SOME INFO FOR ALL YA NOOBS. DONT WATCH THESE SHIT VIDEOS, AS THE FIXES WILL ONLY LAST AN HOUR OR SO.

the problem is either your AV cables, or your actual AV chip inside ur 360. both are quite easy to fix if you know what ur doing. firstly, buy a new set of cables and test em out. if its still fucked, then you need to replace the AV chip inside ur 360. you can find these online. just search on google. easy as that. dont watch these shit videos... lol

  • @mattbeast44

Its the 360 itself not the av cables....explain how the 360 works after doing the towel trick for a short time ???

  • @Swiper360 err, if you'd read the whole comment you'd have seen that i also said quote:

buy a new set of cables and test em out. if its still fucked, then you need to replace the AV chip inside ur 360. you can find these online. just search on google. easy as that. dont watch these shit videos... lol

douche.. and also, the towel trick if you'd like to be educated to today is for the rrod problem, and the idea is that when you overheat the xbox 360, you melt the thermal paste to a degree which

  • @Swiper360 can sometimes move the gpu around and get it working for a short period of time. for the e74 error, its most likely the av chip, or the ANA component... again, please.. it is better to look a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt...

  • an in 1 hr it will come back... so many fail "fix" videos online

  • hey i tryed this and it shocked me =[ now my finger hurts like a bitch

  • @EmoBoii2010 k this is what u do when the xbox is off take off the small heat thing(the one with the copper bar) then turn it on. then let it get the 2 red flashing lights. then when the lights are STILL blinking put the heat sink on CAREFULLY. then turn the xbox off when you put the heat sink on. then try it and and it should work if it doesnt sorry man but it worked or me!!
