this dude i know has a kicker solo-x 18 u can see if u pull seat the down onl,y cuz he converted the whole trunk space into a box but has space for amps on an amp rack in the back , hes got a 5500 watt power acoustik bamf amp on it, and 2 pretty big like, 18''x3'' rectangle ports, idk how deep.. but it bumps really hard , u can hear from far as hell .. but yeh tight ass sub
@droppedcorolla Weird. It reccomends 5 cubes? My 15" cvx manual reccomends 3-5 cubes for a ported setup. Would've imagined your solo xs would be at least alittle bigger. But hey, maybe not. I can tell from the video alone it has a nice sq to it. I'm looking at the solo x manual now, and it says 5.59 for the dual 4 and 6.27 for the dual 2 for 1 solo x.
Broskii, you shouldn't have bought square subs. The old school circle subs will provide much more bass. Squares are for people who don't need much bass such as metalheads who want to heard the bass from the drums but still don't want to hear it too loud
So your going to tell me that a 12" circle sub will play more bass that a 12" square sub even thought the 12" square sub has more surface area. which if Im correct ppl buy 15" or 18" circle subs to get more bass because there is more surface area moving air. Your logic makes no sense. What next you going to tell me it doesn't sound the same as I was told once they can prove it by throwing a rock in a calm lake the circle rock will make a circle ripple but throw the square rock what does it make?
@kevinarnold021692 I'll let you look it up. Hint - Look at the way that the sound waves travel. I don't feel like arguing over something I already know about.
@droppedcorolla Who in the hell said I was talking shit? I was just saying, a bigger box would make these sound better. I never ONCE said "sounds like shit" "shitty set up" "mines better" did I? No, so don't be so arrogant.
Well so you all know kicker recommends 8.5 cubic feet plus a 100 square inch port 18 inches deep per 1 solo x 18 that will be tuned at 34 htz and they reccomen 2500watts per 18 musical .....have a nice day
@TAKINCAREOFBUISNESS2 yes but if you look up there vented compact box it is 5 ft^3 plus port displacement. and the port is at 60 in^2 x 14.5 long. sub displacement is included in kicker recommended box volumes. after port dispacement it is around 5.6 ft^3. who cares anyway everybody thinks they are an expert and most of the time they even own anything.
@droppedcorolla squares need way more box than rounds. for a solo x 18 to even begin to perform well it needs to be in at leat 8 cubes. more like 12 cubes per 18 is ideal due to the vas
@jguerra420 y does everybody think building a box is sceince and math. if u a good box builder u can build a box no using the exact specs the subs are designed for. it all has to do with subs and what amp ur running dumbass join a forum and ull learn sum shit
were are some sound competitions around indiana? i just got into building systems and have a s10 runing 4 12s custom back wall box and db reader only goes 140 hit that right away
were are some sound competitions around indiana? i just got into building systems and have a s10 runing 4 12s custom back wall box and db reader only goes 140 hit that right away
no offense cus i love the setup but why get subs that big when you cant even build a big enough box for them to push enough air to absolutely pound? like why not get 4 12s where you could have 3 cuft box to each sub or something?
@jguerra420 well its what they recommend if you have a problem with the size call kicker, as for me i dont care because i sold them for $800 for the pair.
@OSH313 its wierd that u just asked that because i just order 3 15 inch fi btls. Im gonna have to say fi btls are better. also the fis cost alot less,
both subs are good but juggernaut 12 is only 1400 watts rms, solo x 12 is 2500 watts rms. also if you blow the juggernaut you have to send it off for recone with the kicker you can do it youself and it will be cheaper. another good sub digital designs. depending on how much power you are going to run you could run a 3512 or a 9512.
I have enough money for a kicker solo x 18 the problem is space, i have a 1998 camaro and in the hatch when i rip everything out (keeping the backseats) have about 6 cubes. Kicker says 5 to 10 cubes ported so will it stil sound good with only 6 cubes? The other set up i was thinking about is 2 kicker l7 15'' .. i can get the solo x for 850 and the l7's for 300 a sub
you will get better sound from the 2 15s in a 6ft^3 than a solo x in a 6ft^3 box. it will sound a lot lower.the problem i had with putting them in @ 5ft^3 per 18 was the low frequency response. i had l7 15s in this truck before in this truck before and they had better response. the other option would be to go with a 12 inch solo x.
@droppedcorolla im thinking a solo x 12 would prob would not be as loud as 2 15 l7s .. the only part i like about the solo compared to the l7 is you can fix a solo x the l7 is kinda trash if you blow it
thats true. maybe try 1 solo x 12 for now and then get a second one later. solo xs can be blown cuz ive done it. i did it by pushing full power the second day i bought it.
@droppedcorolla yup i fryed my 15 cause my friend had the bass all the way up and i didnt know it and i turned my knob up a lil and my chest almost caved in lol...it started smoking 0_0
hey droppedcorolla i got one 18" kicker with 1 of those same amps is the combination good? and is the amp good? i dont have my shit hooked up yet as you can tell lol
@droppedcorolla is that gross or net? i think if you raised the box up a bit or maybe just walled it and went above the min recommended specs you would see a lot more output and changed you're port location, gave it something to load off of.
that box was 10 cubic feet net.. box was all the way to the top it was actually behind the amps as well. I no longer have this system. i changed to jl 12 w7s and now recently to digital designs. i will post a new vid soon.
@droppedcorolla you just didn't like the 18's? i have two trucks and i want to do maybe a single 18 in one of them, provided i can get it enough airspace. But my friend has done both 18's and 15's and he suggests 15s have more low end authority. I really wanna run some dual 15's in one and a single or dual 18 in the other, but keep getting told 15's will hit harder.
loved the 18s but I just like trying different subs, as far as 15s having more low end it not really true it all depends on the sub and having the right size box. You can have a top of the line sub but if its in the wrong box it will still sound like crap. The 8s i have in the truck now hit as low as any 15 or 18 i have ever had. Before the 18s i had 2 L7 15s and i also had cerwin vega stroker pro 15s. if you have enough airspace for an 18 then do it you wont be disappointed.
great setup man, going for something along the same lines, recently switching out my 6x15s for some dual 18's. what do you run for numbers?? have you taken it to a comp yet just to see?
