  • When i first saw this movie at the Dendy Cinema in King st Newtown Sydney Australia, I knew then that this is a keeper,

  • i love the build ups... every one of glens songs in either the frames or swell season has a build up, this is my favourite along side "in these arms" from ONCE. thumbs up for both bands!

  • You know this song explained "speechless" for me...

  • Truely inspiring

  • Beautiful, beautiful song.

  • @scouse812

weird isnt it, i was gloooed too.. i was on my laptop with other things going on and i still couldnt help but be completly drawn in the movie...

mostly when i watch hollywood movies nowadays they are sooo crap i fall asleep... but this was magnititiing, best film ive seen in many of years regardless of budget size....

and one of my favourite films ever maybe even favourite..... so real and perfect... the acting was amazing the songs were amazing, ending couldve been a bit better.

  • @quickmantan It wouldn't be the same film if the ending was different, in my opinion. :)

  • aha this is on tv now, fell in love with this song when i heard it! :]

  • Just watching this movie. The songs are very good, especially this one.

  • haha im here because of live to dance :)

  • @hell0jack1e me too! I love jill and jacob and i loved this song and i listened to it and now i cant stop listening to it :)

  • This song is where I am right now. The moment you decide to change the course of your life because the one you believed in became unbelievable. A new future awaits.

  • 28 people need to wake the fuck up and realize that, THIS IS MUSIC!, fuck your teenage bullshit bands, good on you Glen and Marketa, love it! ;)

  • I love this scene....this song. So passionate! Too bad it is such a bad video. It would be nice to this in better clarity. But hey, only version I can find so....thumbs up to the contributor :)

  • great film ever.... felt loved when my fiance showed me this film.

  • So so emotional and powerful. One of my favourite scenes from any movie. This film has so many scenes like it too. Brilliant.

  • I can't get over Glen Hansard's vocals on this. It blows me away.

  • I love these two!! amazing. I can listen over and over again. To the person who said it was crappy, something is wrong with you it was a great movie, just because something is low budget does not make it crap.

  • love this song and this scene

his voice is just so awesome.

  • I heard about this movie from "Falling Slowly" when it came on VH1 one morning when i was getting ready for school. 4 years later my Lit teacher tells us we are watching the movie and I just was so happy this is a really good movie I see why it has recieved and been nominated for many awards. Also I love this song it's the first song in my MP3 playlist. The day I heard this song I got it ASAP

  • Love the producer's face at 1:11 min and especially at 2:35 min...so powerful :-)

  • I loved this scene in the movie. You can see the sly smile on the studio owner's face as he was producing it - its so obvious that he was thinking "woah, this is awesome".

  • Three years on and this beautiful film and its soundtrack still arouse passions! I discovered it only last week-end as it was never released in France. Watched it twice and told everyone about it!

  • @cayoul63 it was released in France, I saw it there :)

  • the soul... the passion... its so beautiful and unbelievably moving.

  • Great song and great performance---beat song of many great songs in this movie---kudos to glen hansard and markita irglova---they deserved the oscar for their great song in this movie "Falling Slowly"

  • ohh man !! this song is addictive like hell .....

  • This my friends is REAL MUSIC! just when you lose hope in finding truly great singer/songwriter , along comes Glen Hansard belting out this tune with the most heart and soul I have heard in many years...A true pleasure to hear and see.....Brilliant.

  • 27 people are deaf.

  • I love the engineers face when he looks up and realizes that the song is actually good.

  • mme n my mate usually go out n get pissed n look for some pussy

The other night we stayed in n watched this

    Quality film I swear

  • toutes les chansons du film sont super mais celle là c le vrai top et aussi le meilleur enregistrement

  • epic song!every performance by glen is!

  • Whenever I hear this song i'm speechless.

  • 2:30 sent shivers down my spine. The combination of his voice and the backing vocals are just...amazing.

  • this song/movie brought me back into a deeper love with my girl. i cant thank everyone involved more.

  • really really touched my heart i can't forget this movie and feeling

  • awesome, awesome movie...made ppl watch it, whether they wanted to or not

  • @empiretotalwarnoob9 gr. movie but very amature video, gr songs & gr. actors also.

  • @seamogger Part of what makes it great is the "amateur" video. They had legit operators with little equipment. I'm sure Hansard, the producer and the director chose to have the shaky, handheld, look, rather than spend $3,000 on steadicam rentals. It makes the film look a bit like a documentary, more realistic in a way. Also they shot without permits in most outdoor shots, so they hid the camera and used very long lenses, so it could look like they were close, but gaining a lot more shakiness.

  • Love this song, it brings tears of joy to my eyes every time...and that's exactly what its supposed to do. Its arranged to pull every string it can, from withholding the drums until the second verse to the tinkle of the piano to that building roar. Add in the visuals of the sound tech, casual, reading a paper to fully engaged and smiling. Brilliant, beautiful.

  • No number of trolls and their negative comments can dilute the emotion in this song. This is what bliss is all about. This is raw emotion at the peak of intensity. This is honesty that can only come from a heart that's known what love is. Absolute delight!!!

  • @empiretotalwarnoob9 Yeah I am a big sci fi fan, but I only got to catch the end of this movie two or three times on hbo.. so I finally bought the dvd, this is by far my favorit movie..

  • Twenty-seven people here don't have souls. How could you vote something this beautiful down? Fiends.

  • eats me alive !!!! it's killing me but so treu i love it

  • I LOVE GLEN HANSARD.

  • @empiretotalwarnoob9

Which amadhan was responsible for that comment?

  • my god i actually got chills up my neck at the really loud bit. beautiful!

  • I liked how the recording studio manager was like bored at first... and then near the end he was putting his full attention into it haha.

  • @VanillaPrinter Yeah...this is my favorite scene. He suddenly realizes "Hey, these guys don't suck. They are actually good!"

  • Chill a little bit, y'all. This is pretty gay.

  • @apoplecticus Shut up child.

  • @apoplecticus maybe to u but not 2,247 people.

  • It's amazing what you can do with a couple of handycams. No expensive cameras and still a huge hit. Pure brilliant film.

  • What you can do with low budget and people deeply talented

  • Great soundtrack n movie.

  • The love, knowing it won't be consumated. They're manifesting their feelings into music and words. One of the most beautiful songs/flicks seen/heard in years.

  • I've just watched the film and it's got one of the best and original soundtracks I've heard in many years. I'll be buying this for Xmas presents.

  • beautiful

  • This scene gets me every time. Powerful stuff.

  • i was having a dream one night and i woke up to the climax of this song in tears and i was dreamin about my ex, and the lyrics are so intertwined with our relationship.... his vocals, the drums the melody is soo moving i couldnt get out of bed, i was in tears, a true artist who purs his heart and soul into every performance

  • I love this.

  • Yes, this is really a great song. The bass and drums propel the song to the next level and then the singer takes it even further, it is relentless and uncontainable, a force of a song to be reckoned with. It is an example of the total being a lot more than just the sum of its parts. Some magic was going on there.

  • @rohaihuparaguay ~ Perfect choice of words to describe such an amazing song! there was definitely magic going on when this was recorded.

  • i like to watch that guy's reaction lol.

  • omg i am so inlove with this song. . music at its best!

  • what an awesome song!! the drums and bass make it brilliant!!

  • @empiretotalwarnoob9 good movie true that., but it would need some final touches on the screen play.

  • my favirite!!

  • This movie reaffrimed my faith in humanity......

  • Deep, Gentle but direct.

  • chills everytime i listen.

  • There's no auto-tune on this one!

  • the drums make it awesome

  • To me, this scene shows the power of music being made in a group, the build up, the momentum, how every instrument carries the group and how, at the same time, the result is a boost for every musician.

And BTW, very sweet bass line and very nice drumming.

  • @mikeyfehr You're retarded

  • I love this movie!!!! SONGS ARE GREAT!!! I want to buy the CD!!!

  • This movie only got beautiful musics! The best movie I've ever seen!

  • this is my favorite song of the movie. I really love it

  • this is simply perfection. this is music. music is this.

  • Esta escena es unica, y todas las de esta película *_*

  • "When Your Mind's Made Up" - from the movie ONCE

  • i bet this guy sings like that when he takes dumps

  • It's Best Scene that I ever Seen in a movie...I just watch this video everyday....and makes me cry everytime.....Thxxxx!!!

  • DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY! this song is amazing

  • I don't even know what it MEANS, and I still love it! ... What does that say about me :P

  • I LOVED this movie and wept at this scene...I haven't been moved by an artist like this in a very long time...what an incredible gift!

  • My favorite scene in one of my favorite movies, yes sir.

  • Tears of happiness!!!

  • Glen Hansard is the best Singer and compositor...ever...I want to know him...

  • One of the best movies I've ever seen, with two of the best songs I've ever heard, this, and Falling Slowly.

Plus, it's Irish, what's not to like?

    Go raibh mile maith agat!

  • glad, that I could be the 2000th thumb upper :).

    (no kidding)

  • This is a wonderfully beautiful song that touches my heart very deeply…I love songs when the vocalist will sing there heart out…and this man sings his heart out for sure… you know that when they do the song is well worth your time to listen to it…and once you do you will find out that you just can’t get enough of it. So meaningfully…beautiful!!!SunShine!!!

  • @mfjohnson1 Yeah its the same with say it to me now :)

  • @mfjohnson1 my sentiments exactly....could'nt have said better myself

  • @mfjohnson1 i agree with your thoughts, if your gonna sing, don't hold back, leave it out there

  • here we can see how strong emotions can be raised while listening to a pure song from talented musicians. thank you.

  • I like all kinds of music, as long as it speaks to my soul. This touches my core...

  • Awesome is a word that is used far too often, but this track truly is. So powerful. x

  • this song is so powerful

  • In this song, a strange sadness and secret smile.

  • MARKMUSICMAN,you say you have worked in the music business for 30 years yet you say your 26 years old.You say you strive for perfection yet you can't play the right notes to the simplest song ever ,Stairway.you've subscribed tosomething like 849 viewers and 99.9999% are young girls.Have lying and trying to make other people look bad ever got you anywhere yet in life?By the way the duet sounded good and full sounding and had a good message. Some people have their minds made up to never learn, sad.

  • great

  • 1:42...drummer looks at camera. lol

  • this is such a great song i just love it. the movie is so touching

  • this is the best ever @2:13

  • This song is fantastic, I don't listen to as much as I used, it brings back a lot!!! Regarding pure emotion you'll not find many better. If you watch closely there is a lot of emotion between both. Glen's is impossible to miss, but you sense a great sense of sadness in Marketa. I am told that the movie & the songs were taken directly from present experience between them. Is this true?

  • @rgerrity07 They did begin a relationship after the film, which is now over as a romance, but they still perform together and are currently on tour. They are a group known as The Swell Season.

  • @Pstofish Thank-You for your answer, I guess it shoots a hole in my theory, but then again more than a few actors have immersed so deeply in the roll they play that it seeps into their everyday. I think The Classic Movie: The French Lieutenant's Women with Meryl Streep & Jeremy Irons portrays this in a fictional sort of way. Anyway thanks for the info

  • @rgerrity07 I see you're in the STates...they are touring there at the moment...and all through July and August. Have a look at their web site, you might be able to catch them somewhere.

  • nice

  • is it weird i started crying at 2:25

  • @bgv3311 It is not weird at all. This is such a sad song infused with such powerful & raw emotions I would think it strange if you did not well up a bit.

  • no matter what you've made up your mind to do, nothing happens until you've had a change of HEART. THAT'S where the super glue is. it, in the end, has the final say.

  • nice film, and fantastic music !

  • Just finished watching the movie, and I had to come here and watch this again. One of those 'larger than life' scenes that I'll remember forever.

  • Goosebumps every time I hear this. I love the bit just before 2:38 when the guy really starts to get enthusiastic, when Glen Hansard's singing becomes a roar from the heart. Incredibly moving for me.

  • This movie is appropriate for any age I believe! so what if they say fuck a lot.

  • @giefhel exactly i dont care what they say.

  • Wow, amazing

  • would this movie be appropreaite for a 15 year old. (Like Me)

  • @peacemkrmattarmour02 yup, totally appropriate, they use the word fuck a lot. but believe me, with their accents, you won't complain.

  • @pinkalienintown more than D9? (District 9)

  • a really good film and with amazing soundrack and really good example for young filmaker with good idea and amazing songs ,and believe me there is so many talented musicians out there who would love to be in a film with their songs have a look at this film with amazing soundrack call sweetshopmovie

  • @utubin67 hey :) i mean the way people assume (myself included) they can suss somebody out in an instant. its not untill you actually sit back and give them a chance that you realise theres something special about them. i love the way they sounded so awfull warming up, but then as soon as they start the song its instant goosbumps...when the sound guy finally noticed, i was about ready to jump off my chair and shout at him lol

  • love the guy on the bass towards the end.. he exemplifies being in the song with Glen and Marketa.. powerful.

  • what a great scene...just goes to show you should never judge a book by its cover...outstanding <3

  • @kirstyjgroves can you elaborate on this comment you made? What do you mean, precisely?

  • This scene really exemplifies the necessity of having good drums and bass. The progression of this song is brilliant. The entrance of the drums and bass grab your attention then Glen and Marketa crank up the heat blow it up!

  • thins song feels like a quiet roller coaster ride through a dense forest.... strings are pulling me lightly in every direction

  • yea n before they started he described them as "fuckin' oddballs" on the phone.

  • yeah and before they started he was talking on the phone describing the band as "fucking oddballs"

  • One of the best parts in the movie is when the recording guy is sitting there like great another bunch of loosers in here to waste my time...... then they blow his mind. Little parts like this always make me laugh out loud.

  • So with feeling! I love it!

  • What a film..

  • The best moment in a film full of little gorgeous scenes. When the soundboard guy wakes up and hears the song. Transcendent.

  • one of the best songs ever 5/4 time...love it when the drums kick in!

  • @nighthawk584 I'd include "Take Five" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet in that list... :)

  • one of the best songs ever 5/4 time...love it when the drums kick in!

  • Yeah, what a deadly film. Love Glen and I know "Timmy" the drummer!!! =D

  • POWERFULL..

  • YES I LOVE this scene.

  • This is such a breath-taking song. And the best thing about this song is the way it's played - the whole band really gives their everything and that's what it sounds like.

  • Just TOO good not to share!

  • when your drunk n listenin to this song.....every sound produced by the guitar or the drums or any intrument ant the artists they seem divine and celestial.....its one kickass of a song.....get plastered and njoy this genius composition....

  • Good film and music.

  • great movie pure music and talent

  • Nice. Very nice. Small nice movie too.

  • muito bom

  • I saw this movie 3 times at 3 different theaters 'cause I needed to listen to this song again!

  • i dont think i saw a single negative comment on any of the songs/videos. Its only exclamation points and happy faces

  • wonderful.. the best song of this movie, sorry

  • And such is the beauty and power of the 5/8 time signature!!! Woo-hoo! :)

  • tutto da capo..fino all'infinito

  • Perfect !

  • Brilliant!
