  • @highridinf250 Big actually isn't always better. In your case it would hurt it power wise. go with a nice cam like the comp cams 262 series cam

  • Love it! So many punks in my area have a weak ass "dual exhaust".. That is, one Flowmaster knockoff with two outlets. This sucker is is definitely a breath of fresh air, sounds like a beast!

  • i find it great that you have a might engine under the hood but the fact you keep your truck in very nice condition makes me happy because all people care about is a powerful engine but the body looks like shit but not in your carse..i also have a mud truck its a 1978 351 modified over to a 551 had it for almsot 34 years owned it since it came off the lot and kept it in mint condition while mudding it. i love how u keep your neat and clean

  • @funkyboy4scar i feel the same way i have a 78 and im gonna restore it completely its not in that bad of shape the back right panel is screwed up i have to fix and i need to replace my freeze out plugs but im gonna have it repainted just like it was when it came off the show room floor

  • I hate how headers are illegal in California. If i put them on my truck they will fail me at the smog shop.

  • @tattoome5150 If you want some headers, you can actually get some that are legal in California. You just need to get the right brand that comes with the 'Smog Legal' certificate.. You can even get aluminum intake manifolds with the certificate.

    Thats the thing with gas engines, the more you build the more you pay in gas. Diesels aren't near as bad, in fact, Jeff Garmons out of Griffin, GA done all kinds of shit to a Ram 1500 and the truck was turning something like 750+ hp and 1500 Ft. Ibs of torque. It fluctuated around 49-51 on highway. so he claims.....

  • umm... yes and this question has been asked about 5 times before. Most Dana 60 front ends had leaf springs, and when you swap one of those in you have to ditch the coil setup for those :) At this power level and with 36+ tall tires a D60 will not cut it - you start breaking stubs.

  • oh sorry ... I should have noticed the swap and I am thinking of swapping out my 44 for a 60 but was thinking of just cutting the leaf perches off and putting the coil perches for better flex on the trail ..

    do you think it would be a good idea ?

  • I am a diesel guy myself I have a Ford and a GMC both diesels but I definately wouldnt mind having a Ford Bronco that sounded like that.

  • Thing sounds like a damn beast. Nice! What's the deal with everyone talking shit about their diesels? That craze will eventually blow over like a fart in a whirlwind to. Silly shit. It's a nice change to hear a healthy gas burner such as this. Of course your diesel will do alot more, damn things should. I get tired of hearing the rattling bastards myself. Of course I am a truck driver so I suppose that plays a small role.

  • nice job!! like the headers- starting to think i should of got the ones that go outside of the frame( i put flow tec on mine they hang a little low and going to have to bring the exhaust tubing back up right after the cross member for the transmission.

  • a cummins engine is not made by dodge, nor is the allison transmission made by chevy , but they sure make a great combination in my bronco,and also my bronco is faster,efficient,and three times more economical than the old 460/C-6 combo i had before.

  • why not put a cummins 24 valve with an allison 6spd in there , i did that with my 78 ford bronco and with several upgrades form gale banks i get around 550 hp and the mileage is like 26 -28 miles to a gallon , it cost about 15gs when you include frame and suspension upgrades.

  • @50tbrd88 they both have there uses. big block has power but not as much torque as a diesel. a diesel will always out torque a gasser. but u dont see too many diesel dragsters so gas motors and diesel both have there uses i love em both!

  • its not my own fault if i got three other guys with the same truck getting the same mileage. there is no leaks it runs perfect without bein rich and it pulls no matter wat. the only thing i can think of is that altitude. im over a mile above sea level and that will affect mileage greatly.

    my dads got an 89 F-250, same engine but EFI (stock) so its about 11mpg. but it gets the same mileage fully loaded or empty.

  • ya well i am also a teenager with a led foot and my 88 F-250 has 35'"s on it. in town i still get about 6 and it seems that everyone i know that has the same truck as me getrs the same milage. but yet again i live in colorado and the altitude is a bit different up here. little bit higher up.

    Nuthin like a Big Block Ford. I'm on my third one in the last 27 years. They may be heavy but they'll take a hell of a beating.

    I just pulled a 1970 429 out of an '86 F15o. The guy who had it said the original 351W ran good, but swapping in the 429 was like night and day. He never did find a Chevy that could outpull him, though many tried. No surprise there!

  • Why not? It lets me jump myself off if needed, and there is a larger reserve for all the electrical crap I have. The audio system I had before drew over 200a momentarily; it is not small. Plus I have aded aux. lights and whatnot as well - the extra battery helps - believe me.

  • mine is tuned well, fuel injected. i still get crappy millage. then agian my truck ways roughly 8800 pounds and uses alot of gas to move it.

  • my 88 is a stock 460 with dual glass packs and i get roughly 6 to 8 miles to the gallon. interstate o can get 12. but in town i get shit. i drive mine to school also.

  • I know all to well what you mean about around town mileage. My '78 F-250 has a 460 with glass packs also. Truck drives great but has a pronounced pull to the right every time I get near a gas station. LOL! 10 mpg whether in town or on the interstate.

    The fun part though is passing one of those tuners with the coffee can mufflers at 75 mph. Drowns those little shitboxes right out and they never can catch up!

  • Not really, my 466 that was about 500 hp got about 12 MPG when I was driving it everyday to school. It's all in the tune...
