This is so random, but does anyone remember a segment that played circa '82-'83 of kids running around almost like on fast forward....there was snow....no pupets...a guys creepy voice saying BRRRRRR over and over and trains going in and out of tunnels?? I was only 3 or 4 so my memory may be fuzzy but I remember that frightening the hell outta me!! Ring any bells for anyone?
ernie sleepwalking is super funny.. but other than that most of the things here are not scary to me,, the only thing it gives me shivers and fear is the mysterious theater intro which i'm sure it cannot be denied...
Unlike many of you guys, I've always found the Ernie & Bert sleepover skits involving The Count & Cookie Monster to be HILARIOUS rather than scary. I loved those skits: ZOMBIE ERNIE: "43,891...43,892...43,89-threeee......(Bert) Hey Ernie!......SHEEEEEEPP!....." LOL!
COOKIE MONSTER: "Hey! Flying cookies! Where'd they come from? WHO CARES! Come to papa! (Cookies then proceed to elude him while singing that stupid song)".
Of course, the I-Beam, early Snuffy, that rubber band face, etc. are creepy.
@SpukiTheLoveKitten75 Yes, I must admit, though Ernie's eyes do look a little creepy in that sketch, but the Count sleepover segment is still REALLY funny to me, especially the ending ("Can I sleep over again tonight, Bert?" *Ernie moans and faints*)
I'm actually surprised no one has done a video like this for the more unfriendly Muppet Monsters like the Frackles, Uncle Deadly, the Vile Bunch and all those big bad Muppet eaters. Even that tiny purple skull Yorick is kinda creepy the way he'd just stare. Anyone agree?
@IJustWatchEm71 I agree about Snuffy. OH MY GAWD THAT THING WAS PURE NIGHTMARE FUEL! What ever possessed Snuffy's designer to THINK that a green-yellow eyed...thing...wasn't scary?!!! Snuffy's best as the adorable loveable lug with the large, loving, long-lashed dark-eyed look we all know & love.
Forget Beautiful Day & that Creepy Dragon.....The Original Snuffleupagus WAS TRUE UNADULTERATED HIGH-OCTAINE NIGHTMARE FUEL OF PURE EVIL DEMONIC PANT-WETTING SPAWN OF SATANIC HELL!!!! *OOOOoooorrrgghh*
@SuperJNG18 The main cause of the fear factor of the I-Beam segment was the music, and a few of the extreme close-ups making it look like it could jump out of the TV and burn you, plus there is no narration or anything, so young kids wouldn't understand what is going on.
Nice. Born in '74 & watched Sesame Street every chance I had. My parents would watch it with me when I was younger, then in elementary school we watched it every morning before school then again after school go out. Junior High I used to babysit all the time and the kids loved Sesame Street (along with Mister Roger's Neighborhood, Electric Company.) Highschool I worked at a day care & we watched it every afternoon. Now I watch my friends' kids & yep still watching Sesame Street from '74 on.
Nothing like a good scare! I remember the Ernie sleepwalking episode and all the other sequences. That was from back in my day, in the 80s, when Sesame Street was still good, and still was showing the commercial inserts on the show from the early years before that creep ELMO ate them all up and stopped showing them. He ruined Sesame Street! I call 1969-1994 the first generation and 1995-on, uh, everybody else!
Holy Shit!!! That Ernie sleepwalking thing scared the shit out of me when I was younger! I remember that episode. Do you know where I can see the whole clip?
3:07-3:22 was absolutely the scariest part of this video!! I actually had to turn the computer off, and run away!! You can tell Kermit and Cookie were in shock.
Awesome video! This definitely sums up the stuff that used to scare me on Sesame Street, though I kinda wish Cookie Monster's nightmare was in this (you know, the one with the evil singing cookies).
I know a creepy Sesame Street skit that, as of now, can only be seen on the official Sesame Street website. Go there and search for a video called "Homes Around The World." This animated skit from the 80s has creepy transitions, and at the beginning, it looks like a red blob is gonna zoom out of the TV.
The original music was this freaky dissonant industrial-type tune that sounds like something out of a war movie when people are getting ready to go into battle
That's cause I saw the "I Beam" AFTER I made the original and I was like "Aw man, I should've included this!" But then when I had the opportunity to reupload this I decided to include the "I Beam," as well as the Yip-Yips and the freaky Humpty Dumpty!

A LOT of Muppet Monsters are losing their Scariness Factor, even the Frackles. The only decently scary MM anymore is Big Mean Carl, right?

That's FOUR! FOUR people who don't scare very easily! Ah ah ah ah...
I'm surprised the original Snuffle-upagus wasn't in this, or even Nobody (Now then, a count of 10).

Why does everyone freak out over the I Beam? IT'S JUST AN I BEAM!
If Frazzle was in this video, then it'd be perfect. That guy always freaked me out.
Beautiful Day Monster's yell was freak as hell. Nothing freaks me out about the Count, Pharoah Ernie, and the Yip-Yips, though.
